< Luka 4 >
1 Jesuh tah Jordan lamloh Mueihla Cim a baetawt la mael tih Mueihla loh khosoek la a khuen.
Now Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,
2 Rhaithae loh khohnin sawmli a noemcai. Tekah khohnin vaengah caak pakhat khaw a caak kolla bungpong neh a thok sak.
where he continued forty days, and was tempted by the devil. Having eaten nothing all that time, when it was ended he was hungry:
3 Te vaengah anih te rhaithae loh, “Pathen capa la na om atah, lungto he voek lamtah buh la poeh saeh,” a ti nah.
and the devil said to him, If thou be God's Son, command this stone to become bread.
4 Te dongah anih te Jesuh loh, “'Hlang long he buh bueng neh hing boel saeh, 'tila a daek coeng ta,” a ti nah.
Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, "Man does not live by bread only, but by whatever God pleases."
5 Te phoeiah anih te a khuen tih a tue kolkalh rhuet ah lunglai kah ram rhoek te boeih a tueng.
Then the devil, having brought him to the top of a high mountain, showed him all the kingdoms of the world in an instant,
6 Te vaengah anih te rhaithae loh, “Hekah saithainah boeih neh a thangpomnah he nang kam pae eh?, kai taengah m'paek coeng dongah ka ngaih te tah ka paek mai.
and said to him, All this power and glory I will give thee; for it is delivered to me, and to whomsoever I will, I give it;
7 Te dongah, nang khaw kai taengah na bakop atah nang hamla boeih om bitni,” a ti nah.
if, therefore, thou wilt worship me, it shall all be thine.
8 Tedae Jesuh loh anih te a doo tih, “A daek tangtae coeng ni, BOEIPA na Pathen mah bawk lamtah amah bueng mah thothueng,” a ti nah.
Jesus answering, said, It is written, "Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and shalt serve him only."
9 Te phoeiah anih te Jerusalem la a khuen tih bawkim kah tlungsoi ah a pai sak. Te vaengah anih te, “Pathen capa la na om atah, he lamloh namah te cungpung thuk.
Then he brought him to Jerusalem, and placing him on the battlement of the temple, said to him, If thou be God's Son, throw thyself down hence;
10 A daek tangtae vanbangla amah kah puencawn rhoek te nang aka khoem ham namah yueng a uen bitni.
for it is written, "He will give his angels charge concerning thee, to keep thee;
11 Na kho te lungto dongah na tongtah ve a ti dongah nang te a kut neh n'dom uh bitni,” a ti nah.
and, in their arms they shall uphold thee, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone."
12 Tedae anih Jesuh loh a doo tih, “A thui coeng te ta, BOEIPA na Pathen te noemcai boeh,” a ti nah.
Jesus answered, It is said, "Thou shalt not put the Lord thy God to the proof."
13 Rhaithae loh a noemcainah te boeih a soep coeng dongah a tuetang a pha hlan duela anih taeng lamloh nong.
When the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a time.
14 Jesuh tah Mueihla kah thaomnah neh Galilee la mael. Te vaengah anih kah olthang te te rhoek pingpang tom ah cet.
Then Jesus, by the impulse of the Spirit, returned to Galilee, and his renown spread throughout the whole country,
15 Amamih kah tunim ah khaw a thuituen tih hlang boeih loh a thangpom.
and he taught in their synagogues with universal applause.
16 Te phoeiah aka khut a om nah Nazareth la pawk. Tedae a sainoek bangla Sabbath hnin ah tunim khuila kun tih ca tae hamla pai.
Being come to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, he entered the synagogue, as his custom was, on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read.
17 Te vaengah anih te tonghma Isaiah kah cabu te a doe uh. Cabu te a hlam vaengah tekah hmuen ah a daek tangtae aka om te a hmuh;
And they put into his hands the book of the Prophet Isaiah, and having opened the book, he found the place where it is written,
18 BOEIPA Mueihla loh kai n'om thil tih khodaeng te olthangthen phong pah ham kai ng'koelh coeng. Hlangsol taengah khodawkngainah, mikdael taengah khoval te hoe pah ham, a haemtaek rhoek te khodawkngainah khuila tueih ham,
"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, inasmuch as he has anointed me to publish glad tidings to the poor, to announce liberty to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to release the oppressed,
19 BOEIPA kah kum uem om te hoe ham kai n'tueih coeng.
to proclaim the year of acceptance with the Lord."
20 Cabu te a awn tih tueihyoeih taengla a mael phoeiah ngol. Te dongah tunim ah aka om rhoek kah a mik loh anih te boeih a hmaitang uh.
And having closed the book, and returned it to the servant, he sat down. And the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed upon him.
21 Te dongah amih te, “Tihnin ah olcim he nangmih hna khuiah soep coeng,” pahoi a ti nah.
And he began with saying to them, This very day, the scripture which you have just now heard, is fulfilled.
22 Te vaengah anih te boeih a oep uh tih a ka lamkah aka thoeng lungvatnah olka dongah a ngaihmang uh. Te dongah, “Joseph capa moenih a he?,” a ti uh.
And all extolled him; but being astonished at the gracious words which he uttered, they said, Is not this Joseph's son?
He said to them, You will doubtless apply to me this proverb, "Physician, cure yourself." Do as great things here in your own country, as we hear you have done in Capernaum.
24 Tedae nangmih taengah rhep ka thui, Amah tolrhum ah a uem uh tonghma a om moenih.
But in fact, added he, No prophet was ever well received in his own country.
25 Nangmih te oltak ni kan thui. Elijah tue vaengah Israel khuiah nuhmai muep om. Te vaengah vaan ke kum thum hla rhuk a khaih tih, khokha loh diklai pum ah muep om.
I tell you of a truth, there were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah, when heaven was shut up for three years and a half, so that there was great famine throughout all the land;
26 Te vaengah Sidoni Zarephath kah nuhmai nu taeng pawt atah amih taengla Elijah a tueih moenih.
yet to none of them was Elijah sent, but to a widow in Sarepta, of Sidonia.
27 Tonghma Elisha tue vaengah Israel khuiah hmaibae muep om dae, Syria Naaman pawt atah amih a cing pah moenih,” a ti nah.
There were likewise many lepers in Israel, in the days of Elisha the prophet; and Naaman the Syrian was cleansed, but none of those.
28 Te rhoek te a yaak uh vaengah tunim khuikah rhoek tah a thinsanah neh boeih hah uh.
On hearing this, the whole synagogue were enraged,
29 Te dongah thoo uh tih Jesuh te kho voel la a haek uh. Anih te tulh ham amamih kah a sak khopuei tlang kah pango la a khuen uh.
and breaking up, drove him out of the city, and brought him to the brow of the mountain on which their city was built, that they might throw him down headlong.
30 Tedae amih te a laklung ah a va tih cet.
But he, passing through the midst of them, went away.
31 Te phoeiah Galilee khopuei, Kapernaum la suntla thuk tih, Sabbath vaengah amih aka thuituen la pahoi om.
Then he came to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and taught them on the Sabbath.
32 A ol tah saithainah neh a om dongah a thuituennah te a ngaihmang uh.
And they were struck with awe at his manner of teaching; for he spoke with authority.
33 Te vaengah rhaithae kah rhalawt mueihla aka kaem hlang te tunim khuiah om tih ol ue la pang.
Now there was in the synagogue a man possessed by the spirit of an unclean demon, who roared out, saying,
34 “Aya! Nazareth Jesuh, nang taeng neh kaimih taengah balae aka om? Kaimih aka poci sak ham nim na pawk? Nang te kan ming ta, Pathen kah hlangcim la na om ta,” a ti.
Ah! Jesus of Nazareth, what hast thou to do with us? Art thou come to destroy us? I know who thou art--the Holy One of God.
35 Tedae anih te Jesuh loh a ho tih, “Paa lamtah anih lamloh cet,” a ti nah. Te dongah anih te rhaithae loh a laklung la a voeih tih a tloh kolla anih te a caeh tak.
And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Be silent, and come out of him. On this, the demon, having thrown him into the middle of the assembly, came out without harming him.
36 Te vaengah ngaihmangnah loh boeih a thoeng thil uh. Te dongah khat neh khat te voek uh tih, “Mebang olka nim he, saithainah neh a thaomnah dongah rhalawt mueihla rhoek a tueih tih, a caeh uh mai he,” a ti uh.
And they were all in amazement, and said one to another, What does this mean, that with authority and power he command the unclean spirits, and they come out?
37 Te dongah Jesuh kah olhum tah te rhoekg pingpang kah a hmuen boeih la pawk.
From that time, his fame was published in every corner of the country.
38 Tunim lamloh thoo tih Simon im la kun. Te vaengah Simon masae te satloh om tih a nan malcal. Te dongah anih kongah Jesuh te a dawt uh.
When he was gone out of the synagogue, he entered the house of Simon, whose wife's mother had a violent fever, and they entreated him on her behalf.
39 Anih te a pai thil tih tloh te a ho daengah anih te tloh loh a hlah. Te dongah pahoi thoo tih amih te a kok.
Jesus, standing near her, rebuked the fever, and it left her, and she instantly arose, and served them.
40 Khomik a tlak vaengah tlohtat cungkuem neh tattloel la aka om boeih te Jesuh taengla a khuen uh. Amih pakhat rhip te kut a tloeng thil tih amih te a hoeih sak.
After sunset, all they who had any sick, of whatever kind of disease, brought them to him; and he, laying his hands on every one, cured them.
41 A yet taeng lamkah rhaithae rhoek khaw nong uh. Te phoeiah pang uh tih, “Nang tah Pathen capa ni,” a ti nah. Anih te Khrih ni tila a ming uh dongah amih te a ho tih thui sak voel pawh.
Demons also came out of many, crying out, Thou art the Son of God. But he rebuked them, and would not allow them to speak, because they knew that he was the Messiah.
42 Khothaih a pha vaengah khoe uh tih khosoek hmuen te a paan. Tedae hlangping loh anih te a toem uh tih anih te a paan uh. Te phoeiah amih taeng lamkah a nong pawt ham Jesuh te a tuuk uh.
When it was day, he retired into a desert place; and the multitude sought him out, and came to him, and urged him not to leave them;
43 Tedae amih te, “Pathen kah ram te kho tloe rhoek taengah khaw ka thui ham a kuek dongah ni n'tueih,” a ti nah.
but he said to them, I must publish the good tidings of the Reign of God in other cities also, because for this purpose I am sent.
44 Te dongah Judea ah om tih tunim ah olthangthen a hoe.
Accordingly, he made this publication in the synagogues of Galilee.
