< Luka 13 >
1 Amah a khoning vaengah Pilat loh hmueih neh Galilee rhoek kah thii a thoek te hlangvang aka om rhoek loh Jesuh taengla puen uh.
Now at the same time there were present some who told him of the Galileans whose blood Pilate mingled with [that of] their sacrifices.
2 Te dongah amih te a doo tih, “Te te a yook uh dongah Galilee rhoek tah Galilee rhoek boeih lakah hlangtholh la om tila na poek uh a?
And he answering said to them, Think ye that these Galileans were sinners beyond all the Galileans because they suffered such things?
No, I say to you, but if ye repent not, ye shall all perish in the same manner.
4 Siloam kah imsang loh a bung thil tih aka duek hlairhet rhoek te ta. Amih tah Jerusalem khosa hlang boeih lakah hlangtholh ni tila na poek uh a?
Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them, think ye that they were debtors beyond all the men who dwell in Jerusalem?
No, I say to you, but if ye repent not, ye shall all perish in like manner.
6 Te phoeiah nuettahnah a thui bal. “Amah dum ah thaibu aka ling hlang pakhat om tih, a thaih hoel hamla ha pawk hatah hah a sawt.
And he spoke this parable: A certain [man] had a fig-tree planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit upon it and did not find [any].
7 Te dongah dumpho taengah, 'Kum thum khuiah ka lo tih hekah thaibu dongah a thaih ka hoel dae hah ka sawt coeng he. Te dongah vung laeh, ba ham lae te nen te diklai a kang eh?,’ a ti nah.
And he said to the vinedresser, Behold, [these] three years I come seeking fruit on this fig-tree and find none: cut it down; why does it also render the ground useless?
8 Tedae anih te a doo tih, “Boeipa, te te pin ka to li tih aek ka sang hil tah kum at he khaw hlun mai.
But he answering says to him, Sir, let it alone for this year also, until I shall dig about it and put dung,
9 Thanghal a pha atah a thaih khaw cuen mai ni ta, a thaih pawt bal atah na vung mai bitni,” a ti nah.
and if it shall bear fruit — but if not, after that thou shalt cut it down.
10 Sabbath vaengah tunim pakhat ah om tih a thuituen.
And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath.
And lo, [there was] a woman having a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and she was bent together and wholly unable to lift her head up.
12 Anih te a hmuh vaengah Jesuh loh a khue tih amah taengah, “Huta, Na ngoicaemnah te na hlah coeng,” a ti nah.
And Jesus, seeing her, called to [her], and said to her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity.
13 Te phoeiah huta te kut a tloeng thil hatah pahoi a dueng pah dongah Pathen te a thangpom.
And he laid his hands upon her; and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.
14 Tedae Jesuh loh Sabbath vaengah a hoeih sak te tamtaeng loh a yakdam. Te dongah hlangping te a doo tih, “Hnin rhuk a om khuiah a saii ham te a kuek, te vaengah ha pawk kanoek vetih na hoeih uh mako, Sabbath hnin ah pawt mako,” a ti nah.
But the ruler of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus healed on the sabbath, answering said to the crowd, There are six days in which [people] ought to work; in these therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day.
15 Te dongah anih te Boeipa loh a doo tih, “Hlangthai palat rhoek! nangmih pakhat rhip loh Sabbath ah a vaito neh muli-marhang te khongduk lamkah a hlam tih tui tul ham a khuen uh moenih a?
The Lord therefore answered him and said, Hypocrites! does not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the manger and leading [it] away, water [it]?
16 Anih he Abraham canu la om dae ta. Amah he Satan loh kum hlai rhet a pin coeng ta he. Te dongah Sabbath khohnin ah he hloong dong lamkah loh hlam ham a kuek moenih a?,” a ti nah.
And this [woman], who is a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has bound, lo, [these] eighteen years, ought she not to be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?
17 He he a thui vaengah, anih aka kingkalh rhoek boeih tah yah a poh uh. Tedae hlangping boeih tah amah loh rhuepom la boeih a thoeng sak soah omngaih.
And as he said these things, all who were opposed to him were ashamed; and all the crowd rejoiced at all the glorious things which were being done by him.
18 Te dongah koep a thui tih, “Balae Pathen kah ram phek la aka om?
And he said, To what is the kingdom of God like? and to what shall I liken it?
19 Tedae metlam ka thuidoek eh te? Te te mukang mu phek la om. Te te hlang loh a loh tih a dum ah a haeh. Tedae a rhoeng vaengah thing la poeh tih vaan kah vaa loh a hlaeng dongah bu a tuk,” a ti nah.
It is like a grain of mustard [seed] which a man took and cast into his garden; and it grew and became a great tree, and the birds of heaven lodged in its branches.
And again he said, To what shall I liken the kingdom of God?
21 Te te huta loh a loh tih vaidam khoi thum boeih a rhoi hil khaw a hlum thil,” koep a ti.
It is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal until the whole was leavened.
22 Khopuei vangca ah pah tih a thuituen phoeiah tah Jerusalem la a caeh long a tarhoek.
And he went through one city and village after another, teaching, and journeying to Jerusalem.
23 Te vaengah hlang pakhat loh a taengah, “Boeipa, te rhoek ca bueng khang koinih,” a ti nah.
And one said to him, Sir, [are] such as are to be saved few in number? But he said unto them,
24 Te dongah Jesuh loh amih te, “Thohka caek longah kun hamla thingthuel uh lah. Nangmih taengah ka thui, a yet loh kun hamla a toem uh suidae noeng uh mahpawh.
Strive with earnestness to enter in through the narrow door, for many, I say to you, will seek to enter in and will not be able.
Tedae nangmih te n'doo vaengah, 'Nangmih me kah aka om rhoek nim? kam ming moenih,’ a ti ni.
From the time that the master of the house shall have risen up and shall have shut the door, and ye shall begin to stand without and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, open to us; and he answering shall say to you, I know you not whence ye are:
26 Te vaengah, 'Namah taengah ka caak ka ok uh tih, kaimih kah toltung ah na thuituen ta,’ na ti uh ni.
then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten in thy presence and drunk, and thou hast taught in our streets;
27 Tedae nangmih taengah a thui vetih, 'Nangmih mekah aka om rhoek nim kam ming moenih, boethae kah bibikung rhoek kai taeng lamkah loh boeih nong uh,’ a ti ni.
and he shall say, I tell you, I do not know you whence ye are; depart from me, all [ye] workers of iniquity.
There shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but yourselves cast out.
29 Te vaengah khocuk neh khotlak lamkah, tlangpuei neh tuithim lamkah loh ha pawk uh vetih Pathen kah ram ah ngolhlung uh ni.
And they shall come from east and west, and from north and south, and shall lie down at table in the kingdom of God.
30 A hnuk la aka om rhoek te lamhma la om uh vetih, lamhma la aka om rhoek te a hnuk la om uh ni ke,” a ti nah.
And behold, there are last who shall be first, and there are first who shall be last.
31 Amah tekah a tue vaengah Pharisee pakhat loh Jesuh te a paan tih, “Khoe uh lamtah cet dingdoeng laeh, Herod loh nang ngawn ham a ngaih,” a ti nah.
The same hour certain Pharisees came up, saying to him, Get out, and go hence, for Herod is desirous to kill thee.
32 Te dongah amih te, “Cet uh lamtah maetang te thui pa uh, rhaithae ka haek tih tihnin ah hoeihnah ka saii he thangvuen neh omvai ah ka coeng ni.
And he said to them, Go, tell that fox, Behold, I cast out demons and accomplish cures to-day and to-morrow, and the third [day] I am perfected;
33 Tedae kai ham tihnin neh thangvuen te khaw a kuek dongah caeh hamla om. Jerusalem voel ah tonghma sai a caeh te yae boel saeh.
but I must needs walk to-day and to-morrow and the [day] following, for it must not be that a prophet perish out of Jerusalem.
34 Jerusalem, Jerusalem, tonghma rhoek te aka ngawn tih a taengla a tueih pah rhoek te khaw aka dae, ainu loh a phae hmuiah a aicahui khoep a ku vaengkah a longim bangla, na ca rhoek te ka kholcui ham ka ngaih taitu dae na ngaih uh pawh.
Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the [city] that kills the prophets and stones those that are sent unto her, how often would I have gathered thy children together, as a hen her brood under her wings, and ye would not.
35 Na im te nangmih taengla han hlah coeng he. Tedae nangmih ham ni ka thui. Boeipa ming neh aka pawk tah a yoethen, 'na ti uh tue te ha pawk duela kai nan hmuh uh loengloeng mahpawh,” a ti nah.
Behold, your house is left unto you; and I say unto you, that ye shall not see me until it come that ye say, Blessed [is] he that comes in the name of [the] Lord.
