< Luka 12 >

1 Hlangping a thawng a sang te tingtun uh tih khat neh khat taelh uh thae.
Meanwhile, when the crowd had gathered together by the thousands, so that they were trampling on one another, Jesus began to speak first to his disciples: “Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.
2 Te dongah phah la aka om te tah pumphoe mueh pawt tih a huephael te khaw a ming mueh moenih.
There is nothing covered up that will not be revealed, and nothing hidden that will not be made known.
3 Te yueng la a hmuep ah na thui uh te vangnah khuiah a yaak ni. Imkhui kah a hna ah na thui uh te khaw imphu ah a hoe ni.
Therefore whatever you have said in the darkness will be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in anyone's ear in private rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops.
4 Ka paya rhoek nangmih taengah ka thui coeng. Pumsa te a ngawn uh dae, te phoeiah saithainah pakhat khaw aka khueh pawt te rhih uh boeh.
“I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have nothing more they can do.
(Geenna g1067)
But I will tell you whom you should fear: Fear him who has authority to throw you into hell after your body has been killed. Yes, I tell you, fear him! (Geenna g1067)
Te rhoek te pakhat khaw Pathen hmaiah a hmaai a om moenih.
Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten in the sight of God.
7 Na lu kah sam pataeng boeih a tae coeng. Rhih uh boeh, vahnup lakah muep na tiing uh ngai.
Indeed, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. So do not be afraid; you are of more value than many sparrows.
8 “Nangmih taengah ka thui, kai kawng he hlang hmaiah aka phong boeih te tah hlang capa loh anih te Pathen kah puencawn rhoek hmaiah a phong van ni.
“I tell you, everyone who acknowledges me before men, the Son of Man will also acknowledge before the angels of God,
9 Tedae hlang hmaiah kai aka hnawt tah Pathen puencawn rhoek hmaiah ka huek uh tak ni.
but whoever denies me before men will be denied before the angels of God.
10 Hlang capa te ol aka tha thil boeih te tah tholh a hlah pah pueng ni. Tedae Cim Mueihla taengah aka soehsal te tah tholh hlah pah mahpawh.
And everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.
When you are brought before synagogues, rulers, and authorities, do not be anxious about how or what you should speak in your own defense, or what you should say,
12 Thui ham a kuek te tah amah tue vaengah Cim Mueihla loh nangmih n'thuituen bitni,” a ti nah.
for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you should say.”
13 Hlangping khuikah pakhat loh Jesuh te, “Saya, ka manuca te thui pah lamtah kai hamla rho ham paek,” a ti nah.
Then someone from among the crowd said to him, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the family inheritance with me.”
14 Tedae Jesuh loh anih te, “Ka hlang aw, nangmih rhoi soah laitloekkung ham neh tultaelkung la u long kai n'tuek,” a ti nah.
But Jesus said to him, “Man, who appointed me as a judge or arbitrator over you?”
15 Te phoeiah amih te, “Halhkanah te boeih hmuming uh lamtah cue uh. A khuehtawn om dae a hingnah pakhat khaw a cawt moenih,” a ti nah.
Then he said to them, “Watch out and be on your guard against covetousness, for one's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.”
16 Te phoeiah amih taengah nuettahnah a thui tih, “Kuirhang hlang pakhat kah lo te cang a thawt pah.
And he told them a parable: “The land of a certain rich man produced abundantly.
17 Tedae amah khuiah a poek tih, ‘Ka cang thaih he, ka tung nah ka khueh pawt dongah banim ka saii lah ve,’ a ti.
So he thought to himself, ‘What should I do, for I do not have anywhere to store my crops?’
18 Te phoeiah, ‘He tla ka saii eh, ka khai te ka phae vetih a len la ka saii eh, te ah te ka cang neh ka koe te boeih ka tung eh.
Then he said, ‘This is what I will do: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my produce and my goods.
19 Te phoeiah ka hinglu te, “Ka hinglu nang, kum a sen ham koe muep na khueh coeng dongah duem lamtah, ca lamtah, o lamtah, uum laeh,” ka ti nah ni,’ a ti.
And I will say to my soul, “Soul, yoʋ have many goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink, and be merry.”’
Tahae kah na hmoel te u ham nim a om ve?’ a ti nah.
But God said to him, ‘Yoʋ fool! This very night yoʋr life will be demanded back from yoʋ, and the things yoʋ have prepared, whose will they be?’
21 Te dongah anih loh amah ham a tung dae a khuehtawn loh Pathen taengla a pawk puei moenih,” a ti nah.
This is how it will be with anyone who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God.”
22 A hnukbang rhoek te khaw, “He dongah ni nangmih taengah ka thui, na caak uh te khaw, pum dongah na bai uh ham te khaw, na hinglu mawn sak uh boeh.
Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat, or about your body, what you will wear.
23 hinglu tah buh lakah, pum he khaw himbai lakah olpuei la om.
Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing.
24 Vangak ke poek uh lah, tuh uh pawt tih at uh pawh, a im khaw, khai khaw khueh uh pawt dae Pathen loh amih te a khut. Nangmih tah vaa lakah muep na olpuei uh.
Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap; they have no storehouse or barn, yet God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than birds?
25 Nangmih khuiah unim aka mawn tih a hinglung te dong at khaw aka cong thil thai?
Which of you by being anxious can add a single moment to yoʋr span of life?
26 A yit dongah na coeng uh pawt atah, ba ham lae a tloe dongah na mawn uh.
If then you cannot even do a very little thing like that, why are you anxious about the rest?
27 Hmat uh lah, rhaipai ke metlam a rhoeng, thakthae pawt tih cunghmui khaw hnuk pawh. Tedae nangmih taengah ka thui, Solomon loh a thangpomnah boeih neh rhaipai pakhat banglam pataeng a bai sak moenih.
Consider the lilies, how they grow: They do not toil or spin, yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his glory was clothed like one of these.
28 Tihnin ah om tih thangvuen ah hmailing khuila a phum lohma kah khopol pataeng Pathen loh a thoeihcam atah nangmih te muep na uepvawt aih mai.
Now if God so clothes the grass in the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith?
And do not be concerned about what you will eat or what you will drink; do not be anxious about such things.
For the nations of the world seek after all these things, and your Father knows that you need them.
31 A ram te tlap uh dae lamtah tekah te nangmih ham han thap bitni.
Rather, seek the kingdom of God, and all these things will be added to you.
Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father is pleased to give you the kingdom.
33 Na khuehtawn te yoi uh lamtah, doedannah la pae uh, aka rhuem pawh sungkoi te namamih ham saii uh. khohrhang he vaan ah tah cueng. Te ah te hlanghuen loh muk pawt tih, keet long khaw phae pawh.
Sell your possessions and give to the needy. Make yourselves moneybags that do not wear out, an inexhaustible treasure in heaven, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys.
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
“Be dressed for service and keep your lamps burning,
like men who are waiting for their master to return from a wedding feast, so that they can immediately open the door for him when he comes and knocks.
Nangmih taengah rhep ka thui, amih te cihin a vaep tih a ngolhlung dongah aka pongpa rhoek loh amih te a khut.
Blessed are those servants whom their master finds keeping watch when he comes. Truly I say to you, he will dress himself for service and have them recline at the table, and he will come and serve them.
If he comes in the second watch or the third watch and finds them doing so, blessed are those servants.
39 Tedae he he ming uh, hlanghuen ha pawk nah khonoek te imkung loh ming koinih, a im te muk hamla hlah sut pawt sue.
But know this: If the master of the house had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into.
40 Te dongah nangmih loh sikim la om uh, hlang capa tah na poek uh pawt tue ah ni ha pawk eh,” a ti nah.
Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not expect him.”
41 Peter loh, “Boeipa, he nuettahnah he kaimih ham a? Hlang boeih ham khaw na thui a?” a ti nah.
Then Peter said to him, “Lord, are yoʋ telling this parable only for us, or for everyone else as well?”
Boeipa loh anih te a imlo soah a tue a tang neh maehham aka tael la a khueh ni.
The Lord said, “Who then is the faithful and wise steward, whom his master will set over his household, to give them their portion of food at the proper time?
43 Tekah sal tah a yoethen, a saii te a Boeipa ha pawk vaengah a hmuh pah van ni.
Blessed is that servant whom his master finds doing so when he comes.
44 Nangmih taengah rhep kan thui, a khuehtawn boeih soah anih ni a ngol sak eh.
Truly I say to you, he will set him over all his possessions.
45 Tedae tekah sal loh a thinko khuiah, ‘Ka boeipa ha pawk ham tah koe pueng ni,’ a ti. Te dongah salnu camoe te koe a boh tih, a caak a ok neh rhui.
But if that servant says in his heart, ‘My master is delayed in coming,’ and he begins to beat the male and female servants, and to eat and drink and get drunk,
46 Sal kah a boei tah a lamtawn mueh khohnin neh a ming mueh a tue vaengah ha pawk koinih, anih te a tloek vetih a paihmuen te aka tangnahmueh rhoek taengla a khueh pah ni.
the master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he does not foresee, and will cut him in two and assign his portion to be with the unfaithful.
47 Tekah sal loh a Boeipa kah kongaih a ming dae, rhuengphong pawt tih amah kongaih bangla a saii dongah a boh dahlawt ni.
That servant who knew his master's will, but did not prepare himself or act according to his will, will be beaten with many lashes.
48 Tedae aka ming pawt loh a saii atah nganboh a yook ham tueng te a yool ni a boh eh. A yet a paek hlang boeih te tah a taengah a yet a toem pah vetih, muep a paek hlang taengah khaw muep a hoe pah ni.
But the one who did not know his master's will, yet did what deserved a beating, will be beaten with few lashes. From everyone to whom much has been given, much will be required; and from him to whom much has been entrusted, even more will be demanded.
49 “Diklai dongah hmai pak hamla ka pawk coeng dongah, metla hlae oepsoeh cakhaw ka ngaih mai coeng.
“I have come to bring fire to the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled!
50 Baptisma khaw nuem hamla ka om pueng tih, ka coeng hlan atah metlam nim n'nan ve.
But I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how consumed I am with it until it is completed!
51 Diklai ah rhoepnah paek ham ka pawk tila na poek uh a? Moenih ta, nangmih taengah ka thui, paekboenah ham dae ni he.
Do you think I have come to grant peace on earth? No, I tell you, but division.
52 Tahae lamkah longtah im pakhat ah panga la paek uh thae vetih, panit pathum, panit pathum ah om uh ni.
For from now on five in one household will be divided, three against two and two against three.
53 Pa neh capa, capa neh pa, manu neh canu, canu neh manu, mani neh a langa, langa neh mani paekboe uh ni,” a ti nah.
Father will be divided against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.”
Jesus also said to the crowds, “When you see a cloud rising from the west, you immediately say, ‘A rainstorm is coming,’ and that is what happens.
55 Tuithim a hli vaengah, ‘Kholing ha pai ni,’ na ti uh tih pai tangloeng.
And when you see the south wind blowing, you say, ‘There will be scorching heat,’ and it happens.
56 Hlangthai palat rhoek, diklai neh vaan kah maelhmai ke soepsoei ham na ming uh tih a tue he balae tih soepsoei ham na ming uh pawh.”
Hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky, so why can you not interpret this present time?
57 “Namamih ham khaw balae tih a dueng la lai na tloek uh pawh.
“Why do you not judge for yourselves what is right?
As yoʋ are going with yoʋr adversary before the magistrate, make an effort to settle with him on the way, lest he drag yoʋ to the judge, and the judge hand yoʋ over to the officer, and the officer throw yoʋ into prison.
I tell yoʋ, yoʋ will certainly not come out of there until yoʋ have paid the very last cent.”
