< Rhaengsae 3 >

1 Kai tah a thinpom caitueng dongkah phacipphabaem aka hmu hlang ni.
I [, the one who am writing this, ] am a man who has been afflicted/punished [MTY] by Yahweh because he was angry.
2 Kai te m'hmaithawn tih hmaisuep ah n'caeh sak vaengah vangnah om pawh.
[It was as though] he caused me to walk in a very dark place without any light [at all].
3 Kai taengah a tloeng tangloeng tih khohnin yung ah a kut a hluem.
He has punished [IDM] me many times, all day, [every] day.
4 Ka vin neh ka saa a hmawn sak tih ka rhuh a paep sak.
He has caused my skin and my flesh to become old. He has broken my bones.
5 Kai he rhahalung n'suem thil tih sue neh bongboepnah te m'ven thil.
He has surrounded me [DOU] with bitterness and suffering.
6 Ka khosak he khosuen kah aka duek bangla khohmuep ah ka om.
[It is as though] he has buried me in a dark place like [SIM] [the graves of] those who have been dead for a long time.
7 Kai taengah khoep a biing tih ka rhohum loh n'nan he ka loeih pawh.
[It is as though] [MET] he has built a wall around me, and fastened/tied me with heavy chains, and I cannot escape.
8 Ka khue tih ka pang vaengah pataeng ka thangthuinah te a toeng.
Although I call out and cry out for him to help me, he does not pay attention to my prayers.
9 Lungrhaih neh ka longpuei a biing tih ka hawn a paihaeh sak.
[It is as though] he has blocked my path with a [high] stone [wall] and has caused my path to become crooked.
10 Kai taengah tah vom neh sathueng pataeng a huephael kah sathueng bangla amah rhongngol coeng.
He has waited to attack me like [SIM] a bear or a lion hides and waits [to attack other animals].
11 Ka longpuei ah m'phaelh sak tih kai n'soek dongah kai aka pong la n'khueh.
[It is as though] he has dragged me off the path and (mauled me/torn me into pieces), and left me without help.
12 A lii a phuk tih thaltang ham kutnoek la kai n'tai.
[It is as though] [MET] he bent his bow and caused me to become the target [at which he shot] his arrows.
13 Anih kah liva ca loh ka kuel khuila pawlh.
[It is as though] he shot his arrows deep into my body.
14 Ka pilnam pum kah nueihbu neh khohnin yung ah amih kah rhotoeng la ka poeh.
All my relatives laugh at me; all day, [every] day they sing songs that make fun of me.
15 Ankhaa te kai ng'kum sak tih pantong neh kai m'hmilhmal sak.
He has filled me with (bitterness/great suffering), [like] [MET] someone who drinks a very bitter liquid suffers.
16 Ka no he lungcang neh a mawth tih hmaiphu khuiah kai m'vuei.
[It is as though] he has caused me to chew gravel that broke my teeth, and he has trampled me in the dirt.
17 Ka hinglu he ngaimongnah lamloh a hlahpham tih a then khaw ka hnilh.
Things no longer go well for me; I no longer remember being prosperous.
18 Te dongah kai kah hmailong neh BOEIPA lamkah ka ngaiuepnah khaw paltham coeng ka ti.
I [continued to] say [to myself], “I no longer expect to live much longer; I no longer confidently expect [to receive good things] from Yahweh!”
19 Kai kah phaiphabaem neh ka airhoeng khaw, ka pantong neh ka anrhat khaw poek lah.
When I think about my suffering and my wandering [away from home], [it is like drinking] a very bitter [DOU] liquid.
20 A poek a poek vaengah ka khuikah ka hinglu tah tlayae la tlayae coeng.
I will never forget this time when I feel very depressed/discouraged [IDM].
21 He he ka ngaiuep dongah ni ka lungbuei he ka mael puei.
However, I confidently expect [Yahweh to do good things for me again] when I think about this:
22 BOEIPA kah sitlohnah tah bawt pawt tih a haidamnah khaw muei pawh.
Yahweh never stops faithfully loving [us], and he never stops being kind to us.
23 Mincang ah na uepomnah thai khaw ping.
[He is the one whom we can] always trust/lean on. Every morning he is merciful [to us again].
24 Ka hinglu loh, “BOEIPA tah ka khoyo ni,” a ti dongah amah te ka ngaiuep van.
[So] I say to myself, “Yahweh is all that I need; so I will confidently wait for him [to do good things for me].”
25 BOEIPA tah amah aka lamtawn ham neh amah aka toem hinglu ham a then pah.
Yahweh is good to [all] those who depend on him, to those who seek his [help].
26 BOEIPA kah loeihnah dongah tah rhingoel ngolsut ham khaw then.
[So] it is good for us to wait quietly for Yahweh to save/rescue [us].
27 A camoe vaengah hnamkun a phueih te ni hlang ham khaw then.
And it is good for us to [patiently] endure [suffering] while we are young.
28 Amah soah a poeh bangla amah bueng khosa saeh lamtah kuemsuem saeh.
Those [who seek his help] should sit by themselves, silently, [knowing that] it is Yahweh who has allowed/caused them to suffer.
29 A ka te laipi khuiah vuei saeh lamtah ngaiuepnah a om khaming.
They should lie in the dirt, with their faces on the ground, [because] they can still hope [that Yahweh will help them].
30 Amah aka ngawn ham a kam duen pah saeh lamtah kokhahnah neh kum saeh.
If someone strikes us on one cheek, we should turn the other cheek toward that person [in order that he may strike it, too], and accept/endure it when we are insulted.
31 Ka Boeipa loh kumhal duela a hlahpham ngawn moenih.
Yahweh does not abandon [us his people] forever.
32 Pae sak bal mai cakhaw a sitlohnah dongkah sitlohnah a khawk vanbangla a haidam bitni.
Sometimes he causes us to suffer, but sometimes he is kind [to us] because he continually and faithfully loves [us].
33 Hlang ca te a lungbuei a phaep pah tih a pae sak bal moenih.
And he is not happy about causing human beings to suffer or to be sad.
34 Khohmuen kah thongtla boeih te a kho hmuiah a phop ham,
If people (mistreat all the prisoners/crush all the prisoners under their feet)
35 Khohni kah mikhmuh ah hlang kah tiktamnah hnawt ham,
or if they rebel against God by refusing to give to people the things that it is right for them [to receive],
36 A tuituknah neh hlang a khun sak ham khaw ka Boeipa loh a hmuh ngaih moenih.
or if they cause judges to decide matters unjustly, (does Yahweh not see all those things?/Yahweh certainly sees all those things!) [RHQ]
37 Ka Boeipa loh a uen pawt te om ni tila unim aka thui thai.
No one can [RHQ] command something to happen [and then cause it to happen] if Yahweh has not already decided that it should happen.
38 A thae neh a then khaw Khohni ka lamloh thoeng pawt nim.
God in heaven [MTY] is [RHQ] the one who causes disasters to happen, and he [also] causes good things to happen.
39 A tholhnah sokah a tholhnah yuvat ah balae tih tongpa hlang hing loh a kohuet mai eh.
[So] it is certainly not [RHQ] right for us, who are only humans, to complain when he punishes us for the sins that we have committed.
40 Mamih kah longpuei he phuelhthaih tih n'khe phoeiah BOEIPA taengla mael uh sih.
Instead, we should (examine/think carefully about) our behavior; we should turn back to Yahweh.
41 Mamih kah thinko neh kut he vaan kah Pathen taengah phuel uh sih.
We should pray [IDM] sincerely and lift up our arms toward God in heaven, [and say, ]
42 Kaimih kah boekoek neh nang kan koek uh te khodawk nan ngai uh moenih.
“We have sinned and rebelled [against you], and you have not forgiven [us].
43 Thintoek neh na cun uh vaengah kaimih nan hloem tih lungma ti kolla nan ngawn.
You have surrounded us with your anger and pursued us; you have slaughtered [us] without pitying us.
44 Thangthuinah neh paan ham khaw namah te cingmai neh na cun uh.
You have hidden yourself in a cloud, with the result that you do not hear [us] when we pray.
45 Kaimih he pilnam lakli ah yun-aek neh kawnhnawt la nan khueh.
You have caused [the people of other] nations to consider us to be only garbage [DOU].
46 Ka thunkha boeih loh kaimih taengah a ka a ang uh.
All our enemies have insulted us.
47 Birhihnah neh rhom khaw kaimih taengah omdamnah neh pocinah la thoeng.
We are constantly afraid [DOU], [because] we have experienced disasters and ruin [DOU].”
48 Ka pilnam nu kah a pocinah dongah ka mik he sokca tui la long.
I cry a lot because my people have been destroyed.
49 Ka mik loh a hawk vetih a bawtnah om pawt hil kak mahpawh.
My tears continually flow; they will not stop
50 A dan neh BOEIPA loh vaan lamkah a hmuh duela.
until Yahweh looks down from heaven and sees [us].
51 Ka khopuei tanu boeih kongah ka mik loh ka hinglu he a poelyoe.
I am very grieved because of [what has happened to] the women of my city.
52 Lunglilungla maila kai he ka thunkha rhoek loh vaa bangla m'mae khaw m'mae uh mai.
Those who are my enemies hunted for me like [SIM] [people hunt for] a bird [to kill it] [even though] there was no reason [for them to do that].
53 Ka hingnah te tangrhom ah a det uh kai taengah lungto a omtoem thil.
They threw me into a pit to kill me, and they threw stones on top of me.
54 Ka lu he tui loh a et vaengah tah n'tuiphih muema ka ti.
The water [in the pit] rose above my head, and I said [to myself], “I am about to die/drown!”
55 BOEIPA na ming te tangrhom laedil lamloh kang khue.
But from the bottom of the pit I cried out to you [MTY], “Yahweh, [help me]!”
56 Ka hilhoemnah ham ka pang te hna na buem pawt dongah ka ol na yaak coeng.
I pleaded with you, “Do not refuse to heed [MTY] me while I cry out to you!”
57 Namah kang khue khohnin ah na mop tih, “Rhih boeh,” na ti.
Then you answered me and said, “Do not be afraid!”
58 Ka hinglu kah tuituknah khaw ka Boeipa loh na rhoe tih ka hingnah na tlan.
Yahweh, you defended me; you did not allow me to die.
59 BOEIPA aw ka lolhmaihnah na hmuh cakhaw ka laitloeknah dongah n'tang sak lah.
[Now], Yahweh, you have seen the evil things that my enemies have done to me, [so] decide my case [and show that I am right]!
60 Kai soah amih kah tawnlohnah boeih neh amih kah kopoek boeih te na hmuh.
You know the evil things that they have planned to do to me.
61 BOEIPA aw kai soah amih kah kokhahnah neh amih kah kopoek boeih te na yaak coeng.
Yahweh, you have heard them insult [me] and what they have planned to do to me.
62 Khohnin yung ah a phungding ol neh kamah taengah kai m'pai thiluh.
Every day they whisper and mutter things about me, all day long.
63 A hoepnah neh a painah ah, amih kah hnaelnah ni ka paelki.
Look at them! Whether they are standing or sitting they make fun of me with the songs that they sing.
64 BOEIPA aw, amih kut dongkah khoboe neh a tiing la amih te thuung lah.
Yahweh, cause them to suffer in return for their causing [me] to suffer!
65 Amih te lungbuei kotalh la khueh lamtah na tapvoepnah te amih soah thoeng sak.
Curse them [IDM] [for] their being very stubborn [IDM].
66 BOEIPA aw thintoek te na hloem dongah ni amih te vaan hmui lamloh na mitmoeng sak.
Because you are angry with them, pursue them and get rid of them, [until none of them remain] on the earth.
