< Joshua 17 >

1 Joseph caming Manasaeh koca ham hmulung a yueh vaengah Gilead napa Manasseh kah caming Makir tah caemtloek hlang la a om dongah anih ham tah Gilead neh Bashan a om pah.
And this was the lot for the tribe of Manasseh, for he was the firstborn of Joseph. As for Machir the firstborn of Manasseh, the father of Gilead, because he was a man of war, therefore he had Gilead and Bashan.
2 Manasseh ca rhoek neh amih cako khuiah aka mueh pueng Abiezer koca rhoek ham neh Helek koca rhoek ham khaw, Asriel koca rhoek ham neh Shekhem koca rhoek ham khaw, Hepher koca rhoek ham neh Shemida koca rhoek ham khaw a om pah. He rhoek he Joseph capa Manasseh koca khuikah amah tongpa cako rhoek ni.
So it was for the rest of the sons of Manasseh according to their families: for the sons of Abiezer, and for the sons of Helek, and for the sons of Asriel, and for the sons of Shechem, and for the sons of Hepher, and for the sons of Shemida. These were the male children of Manasseh the son of Joseph according to their families.
3 Tedae Manasseh koca, Makir capa Gilead kah a ca Hepher capa Zelophehad tah ca tongpa om pawt tih huta rhoek bueng ni aka om. Te dongah anih canu rhoek ka a ming tah Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milkah neh Tirzah ni.
But Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, had no sons, but daughters. And these are the names of his daughters: Mahlah, and Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah.
4 Te vaengah amih te khosoih Eleazar hmai neh Nun capa Joshua hmai ah khaw, khoboei rhoek hmai ah khaw moe uh tih, “Ka nganpa rhoek lakli ah kaimih he rho phaeng ham BOEIPA loh Moses a uen te ta,” a ti uh. Te dongah BOEIPA kah olpaek vanbangla a napa rhoek kah paca boeina taengah amih te rho a paek.
And they came near before Eleazar the priest, and before Joshua the son of Nun, and before the rulers, saying, Jehovah commanded Moses to give us an inheritance among our brothers. Therefore according to the commandment of Jehovah he gave them an inheritance among the brothers of their father.
5 Te dongah Gilead kho neh Jordan rhalvangan ah Bashan phoeiah tah Manasseh kah khoyo parha te a koep thiluh.
And there fell ten parts to Manasseh, besides the land of Gilead and Bashan, which is beyond the Jordan,
6 Manasseh nu rhoek he a nganpa lakli ah rho a dang uh phoeiah Manasseh ca rhoek taengkah aka coih Gilead kho te khaw a bawn thil.
because the daughters of Manasseh had an inheritance among his sons. And the land of Gilead belonged to the rest of the sons of Manasseh.
7 Te dongah Manasseh khorhi he Asher Mikmthath lamloh Shekhem hmai la cet tih Entappuah khosa rhoek taengkah bantang rhi la yong.
And the border of Manasseh was from Asher to Michmethath, which is before Shechem. And the border went along to the right hand, to the inhabitants of En-tappuah.
8 Tappuah kho he Manasseh ham om coeng dae Manasseh khorhi kah Tappuah te tah Ephraim koca rhoek hamla om bal.
The land of Tappuah belonged to Manasseh, but Tappuah on the border of Manasseh belonged to the sons of Ephraim.
9 Te phoeiah khorhi te tuithim kah Kanah soklong la suntla. Soklong kah khopuei rhoek he Manasseh khopuei lakli ah om dae Ephraim hut la om. Tedae soklong tlangpuei kah Manasseh khorhi tah tuipuei ah ni a hmoi a om pueng.
And the border went down to the brook of Kanah, southward of the brook. These cities belonged to Ephraim among the cities of Manasseh. And the border of Manasseh was on the north side of the brook. And the goings out of it were at the sea.
10 Te dongah Ephraim ham he tuithim ah, Manasseh ham te tlangpuei ah om tih tuipuei rhi te a pha. Tedae tlangpuei ah Asher neh, khocuk ah Issakhar neh doo uh thae.
Southward it was Ephraim's, and northward it was Manasseh's, and the sea was his border, and they reached to Asher on the north, and to Issachar on the east.
11 Te dongah Issakhar, Asher Bethshan khuikah neh a khobuel rhoek, Ibleam neh a khobuel rhoek khaw, Dore kah aka om rhoek neh a khobuel rhoek khaw, Endor kah aka om rhoek neh a khobuel rhoek khaw, Taanakh kah khosa rhoek neh a khobuel rhoek khaw, Meggido kah a pathum khopuei la aka om rhoek neh a khopuei rhoek khaw Manasseh hut la om.
And Manasseh had in Issachar and in Asher, Beth-shean and its towns, and Ibleam and its towns, and the inhabitants of Dor and its towns, and the inhabitants of Endor and its towns, and the inhabitants of Taanach and its towns, and the inhabitants of Megiddo and its towns, even the three heights.
12 Tedae he khopuei rhoek he huul hamla Manasseh ca rhoek loh coeng uh thai pawh. Te dongah te rhoek paengpang ah khosak ham Kanaani loh a na.
Yet the sons of Manasseh could not drive out those cities, but the Canaanites would dwell in that land.
13 Israel ca rhoek kah a noeng la a om dongah Kanaani te saldong la a paek sak akhaw a haek rhoe a haek moenih.
And it came to pass, when the sons of Israel grew strong, that they put the Canaanites to task work, and did not utterly drive them out.
14 Te vaengah Joseph koca rhoek loh Joshua te a voek uh tih, “Balae tih hmulung pakhat neh khoyo pakhat bueng he kai taengah rho la nan paek. BOEIPA loh kai yoethen m'paek dongah tahae duela pilnam loh ka ping uh pueng ta,” a ti nah.
And the sons of Joseph spoke to Joshua, saying, Why have thou given me but one lot and one part for an inheritance, seeing I am a great people, inasmuch as until now Jehovah has blessed me?
15 Te dongah amih te Joshua loh, “Pilnam na ping oeh atah namah te duup la cet. Ephraim tlang te nang ham a caek oeh atah Perizzi neh Rapha kho te namah ham pahoi hum thil,” a ti nah.
And Joshua said to them, If thou be a great people, get thee up to the forest, and cut down for thyself there in the land of the Perizzites and of the Rephaim, since the hill-country of Ephraim is too narrow for thee.
16 Joseph koca rhoek loh, “Tlang he kaimih ka cung uh moenih. Kol hmuen ah kho aka sa Kanaan boeih taengah thi leng khaw om tih Bethshan neh khobuel boeih ah khaw amih ham, Jezreel kol ah khaw amih ham coeng ni,” a ti uh.
And the sons of Joseph said, The hill-country is not enough for us, and all the Canaanites who dwell in the land of the valley have chariots of iron, both those who are in Beth-shean and its towns, and those who are in the valley of Jezreel.
17 Tedae Joshua loh Joseph imko Ephraim neh Manasseh taengah, “Pilnam khaw na ping uh tih na thadueng khaw a yet dongah nangmih ham hmulung pakhat bueng om boel saeh.
And Joshua spoke to the house of Joseph, even to Ephraim and to Manasseh, saying, Thou are a great people, and have great power. Thou shall not have only one lot,
18 Nang ham tlang pakhat bueng om cakhaw duup khaw na hum vetih hmangrhong hmanglae loh nang ham ha om bitni. Kanaan rhoek te thi leng neh amah ham tlungluen ngawn cakhaw na haek bal bitni,” a ti nah.
but the hill-country shall be thine, for though it is a forest, thou shall cut it down, and the goings out of it shall be thine. For thou shall drive out the Canaanites, though they have chariots of iron, and though they are strong.
