< Joshua 10 >
1 Joshua loh Aia buem vaengah Jerikho neh Jerikho manghai taengkaha saii bangla Ai neh Ai manghai taengaha saii tih a thup te khaw, Gibeon khosa rhoek, amih khuikah aka om rhoek khaw Israel neh mooi a thuung uh thae te Jerusalem manghai Adonizedek loh a yaak.
Now when Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem heard how Joshua had taken Ai, and had utterly destroyed it; as he had done to Jericho and her king, so he had done to Ai and her king; and how the inhabitants of Gibeon had made peace with Israel, and were among them,
2 Ram kah khopuei rhoek khuiah Gibeon tah pakhat nah khopuei bangla len. Ai lakaha len dongah tongpa hlangrhalh boeih long pataeng mata rhih uh.
they were very afraid, because Gibeon was a great city, as one of the royal cities, and because it was greater than Ai, and all its men were mighty.
3 Te dongah Jerusalem manghai Adonizedek loh Hebron manghai Hoham, Jarmuth manghai Piram, Lakhish manghai Japhia neh Eglon manghai Debir tea tah.
Therefore Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem sent to Hoham king of Hebron, Piram king of Jarmuth, Japhia king of Lachish, and Debir king of Eglon, saying,
4 Te vaengah, “Kai taengla ha yoeng uh lamtah kai n'bom uh dae. Joshua taeng neh Israel ca rhoek taengah moi aka thuung Gibeon ke tloek uh dae sih,” a ti nah.
“Come up to me and help me. Let’s strike Gibeon; for they have made peace with Joshua and with the children of Israel.”
5 Te dongah Amori kah manghai panga neh Jerusalem manghai, Hebron manghai, Jarmuth manghai, Lakhish manghai, Eglon manghai loh tingtun uh tih a lambong neh boeih khoong uh. Te phoeiah Gibeon ah a rhaeh thil uh tiha vathoh thil uh.
Therefore the five kings of the Amorites, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, and the king of Eglon, gathered themselves together and went up, they and all their armies, and encamped against Gibeon, and made war against it.
6 Te vaengah Gibeon kah hlang rhoek te Gilgal rhaehhmuen kah Joshua taenglaa tueih uh tih, “Na sal rhoek taengah na kut han hlong boeh. Kaimih taengah koe halo lamtah kaimih he n'khang mai. Tlang kah khosa Amori manghai boeih loh kaimih taenglaa tingtun uh dongah kaimih m'bom dae,” a ti nah.
The men of Gibeon sent to Joshua at the camp at Gilgal, saying, “Don’t abandon your servants! Come up to us quickly and save us! Help us; for all the kings of the Amorites that dwell in the hill country have gathered together against us.”
7 Te dongah Joshua amah neh amah taengkah caemtloek pilnam boeih, tatthai hlangrhalh boeih khaw Gilgal lamloha khoong puei.
So Joshua went up from Gilgal, he and the whole army with him, including all the mighty men of valor.
8 Tedae BOEIPA loh Joshua taengah, “Amih te rhih boeh, na kut dongah kan tloeng coeng dongah amih khuikah pakhat khaw na mikhmuh ah pai mahpawh,” a ti nah.
Yahweh said to Joshua, “Don’t fear them, for I have delivered them into your hands. Not a man of them will stand before you.”
9 Gilgal lamkah khoyin khinga caeh puei vaengah Joshua loh amih taengla buengrhuet pawk.
Joshua therefore came to them suddenly. He marched from Gilgal all night.
10 Amih te Israel mikhmuh ah BOEIPA loh a khawkkhek tih Gibeon ah hmasoe len neh a tloek uh. Te phoeiah amih te Bethhoron tangkham long ah a hloem tih Azekah neh Makkedah duelaa tloek.
Yahweh confused them before Israel. He killed them with a great slaughter at Gibeon, and chased them by the way of the ascent of Beth Horon, and struck them to Azekah and to Makkedah.
11 Amih khaw Israel mikhmuh lamloh Bethhoron singling ah rhaelrham uh. Tedae amih te BOEIPA loh Azekah duela vaan lamkah lungcang len neh a lun thil. Te dongah Israel ca rhoek loh cunghang neha ngawn lakah lungcang rhael dongah aka duek te muep duek uh ngai.
As they fled from before Israel, while they were at the descent of Beth Horon, Yahweh hurled down great stones from the sky on them to Azekah, and they died. There were more who died from the hailstones than those whom the children of Israel killed with the sword.
12 Te dongah Joshua loh BOEIPA tea voek tih, “Aw BOEIPA Amori he Israel ca kah mikhmuh la tihnin ah tloeng pah laeh. Israel mikhmuh ah khomik loh Gibeon ah, hla long khaw Aijalon kol ah duem dae saeh,” a ti nah.
Then Joshua spoke to Yahweh in the day when Yahweh delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel. He said in the sight of Israel, “Sun, stand still on Gibeon! You, moon, stop in the valley of Aijalon!”
13 Te dongah a thunkha namtom te phu a loh hil khomik loh duem tih hla khaw uelh. Jashar cabu dongah khaw, 'Vaan boengli ah khomik loh pai tih hnin at puet ah hat khum pawh,’ tila a daek moenih a?
The sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the nation had avenged themselves of their enemies. Isn’t this written in the book of Jashar? The sun stayed in the middle of the sky, and didn’t hurry to go down about a whole day.
14 A mikhmuh ah tekah khohnin bang neh BOEIPA loh hlang ola hnatun tih Israel ham aka vathoh BOEIPA he a om noek moenih.
There was no day like that before it or after it, that Yahweh listened to the voice of a man; for Yahweh fought for Israel.
15 Te phoeiah Joshua neh Israel pum loh te Gilgal kah rhaehhmuen la bal uh.
Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, to the camp to Gilgal.
16 Te vaengah manghai panga te rhaelrham uh tih Makkedah kah lungko khuiah thuh uh.
These five kings fled, and hid themselves in the cave at Makkedah.
17 Tedae Joshua taengaha puen pa tih, “Makkedah kah lungko khuiah aka thuh manghai panga te a hmuh uh coeng,” a ti nah.
Joshua was told, saying, “The five kings have been found, hidden in the cave at Makkedah.”
18 Te dongah Joshua loh, “Lungko kah a rhai ah lungnu lungrhang paluet thil uh lamtah aka tawt ham koi hlang khaw hlah uh.
Joshua said, “Roll large stones to cover the cave’s entrance, and set men by it to guard them;
but don’t stay there. Pursue your enemies, and attack them from the rear. Don’t allow them to enter into their cities; for Yahweh your God has delivered them into your hand.”
20 Joshua neh Israel ca rhoek loh amih te bawta tloek vaengah hmasoe len muep om tih dalh milh uh. Tedae amih khuiah aka coe tih rhaengnaeng rhoek tah khopuei hmuencak la pawk uh.
When Joshua and the children of Israel had finished killing them with a very great slaughter until they were consumed, and the remnant which remained of them had entered into the fortified cities,
21 Te dongah pilnam pum loh Makkedah rhaehhmuen kah Joshua taengah sading la mael uh. A hmui a lai loh Israel ca rhoek hlang pakhat khaw hlavawt pawh.
all the people returned to the camp to Joshua at Makkedah in peace. None moved his tongue against any of the children of Israel.
22 Te vaengah Joshua loh lungko kah a rhai te ong uh lamtah lungko khui lamkah manghai panga te kai taengla hang khuen uh,” a ti nah.
Then Joshua said, “Open the cave entrance, and bring those five kings out of the cave to me.”
23 Te dongah lungko khui kah manghai panga la Jerusalem manghai, Hebron manghai, Jarmuth manghai, Lakhish manghai, Eglon manghai tea khuen pauh.
They did so, and brought those five kings out of the cave to him: the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, and the king of Eglon.
24 Manghai rhoek te Joshua taenglaa khuen uh vaengah Israel hlang boeih te Joshua loh a khue tih anih taengla aka pawk caemtloek hlang kah rhalboei rhoek taengah, “Halo uh manghai rhoek hea rhawn ah na kho tloeng thil uh,” a ti nah. Te dongah halo uh tih amih rhawn dongah a khoa tloeng uh.
When they brought those kings out to Joshua, Joshua called for all the men of Israel, and said to the chiefs of the men of war who went with him, “Come near. Put your feet on the necks of these kings.” They came near, and put their feet on their necks.
25 Te phoeiah amih te Joshua loh, “Rhih boeh, rhihyawp boeh, thaahuel lamtah namning sak. Nangmih loh na vathoh thil na thunkha rhoek boeih te BOEIPA loh a saii bitni,” a ti nah.
Joshua said to them, “Don’t be afraid, nor be dismayed. Be strong and courageous, for Yahweh will do this to all your enemies against whom you fight.”
26 Amih te khaw Joshua loh a tloek tiha duek sak. Thing panga dongaha kuiok sak tih kholaeh due thing dongah dingkoei uh.
Afterward Joshua struck them, put them to death, and hanged them on five trees. They were hanging on the trees until the evening.
27 Khotlak tuea lo vaengah Joshua loh a uen tih amih te thing dong lamloha hlak uh. Amih te a thuh nah uh lungko khuiah pahoia voeih uh tih lungko rhai kah lungnua kuk uh te tihnin due hnorhuh la om pueng.
At the time of the going down of the sun, Joshua commanded, and they took them down off the trees, and threw them into the cave in which they had hidden themselves, and laid great stones on the mouth of the cave, which remain to this very day.
28 Tekah khohnin dongah Joshua loh Makkedah tea loh tih cunghang ha neha ngawn. A manghai neh a khuikah hinglu boeih te khaw a thup pah tih rhaengnaeng khaw paih pawh. Jerikho manghai taengkaha saii bangla Makkedah manghai taengah khaw a saii.
Joshua took Makkedah on that day, and struck it with the edge of the sword, with its king. He utterly destroyed it and all the souls who were in it. He left no one remaining. He did to the king of Makkedah as he had done to the king of Jericho.
29 Te phoeiah Joshua neh Israel pum te Makkedah lamloh Libnah la kat uh tih Libnah te a vathoh thil uh.
Joshua passed from Makkedah, and all Israel with him, to Libnah, and fought against Libnah.
30 Libnah te khaw BOEIPA loh Israel kut aha paek. Te dongah a manghai te cunghang ha neha ngawn tih a khuikah hinglu boeih te rhaengnaeng khaw hlun pawh. Te vaengah Jerikho manghai taengkaha saii bangla a manghai taengah khaw a saii.
Yahweh delivered it also, with its king, into the hand of Israel. He struck it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls who were in it. He left no one remaining in it. He did to its king as he had done to the king of Jericho.
31 Te phoeiah Joshua neh Israel pum loh Libnah lamkah Lakhish la thoeih tih a vathoh thil, a rhaeh thil.
Joshua passed from Libnah, and all Israel with him, to Lachish, and encamped against it, and fought against it.
32 Lakhish te khaw Israel kut dongah BOEIPA loh a paek. A hnin bae dongah te te a buem thai tih cunghang ha neh a tloek. A khuikah hinglu boeih te khaw Libnah bangla boeih a saii.
Yahweh delivered Lachish into the hand of Israel. He took it on the second day, and struck it with the edge of the sword, with all the souls who were in it, according to all that he had done to Libnah.
33 Te vaengah Lakhish te bom ham Gezer manghai Horam te cet. Tedae anih khaw Joshua neh a pilnam loh rhaengnaenga sueng pawt hila tloek.
Then Horam king of Gezer came up to help Lachish; and Joshua struck him and his people, until he had left him no one remaining.
34 Te phoeiah Joshua neh Israel pum te Lakhish lamkah Eglon la thoeih uh tih vathoh thil hamla a rhaeh thil uh.
Joshua passed from Lachish, and all Israel with him, to Eglon; and they encamped against it and fought against it.
35 Amah khohnin ah Eglon te a buem uh tih cunghang ha neha ngawn uh. A khuikah hinglu boeih te khaw amah khohnin ah Lakhisha saii bangla boeiha thup.
They took it on that day, and struck it with the edge of the sword. He utterly destroyed all the souls who were in it that day, according to all that he had done to Lachish.
36 Te phoeiah Joshua neh Israel pum tah Eglon lamloh Hebron la cet tiha tloek uh.
Joshua went up from Eglon, and all Israel with him, to Hebron; and they fought against it.
37 Te te a buem uh vaengah a manghai neh a khopuei boeih, a khuikah hinglu boeih khaw, cunghang ha neha ngawn uh. Eglon taengah boeiha saii bangla a khuikah hinglu te boeiha thup tih aka rhaengnaeng khaw hlun voel pawh.
They took it, and struck it with the edge of the sword, with its king and all its cities, and all the souls who were in it. He left no one remaining, according to all that he had done to Eglon; but he utterly destroyed it, and all the souls who were in it.
38 Te phoeiah Joshua neh Israel pum te Debir la bal tiha vathoh thil uh.
Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, to Debir, and fought against it.
39 Debira buem vaengah khaw a manghai neh a khopuei boeih te cunghang ha neha ngawn uh. Hebrona saii bangla Debir khawa saii tih rhaengnaeng om mueh la a khuikah hinglu boeih tea thup uh. Libnah neh Libnah manghai taengkaha saii bangla Debir manghai taengah khaw a saii.
He took it, with its king and all its cities. They struck them with the edge of the sword, and utterly destroyed all the souls who were in it. He left no one remaining. As he had done to Hebron, so he did to Debir, and to its king; as he had done also to Libnah, and to its king.
40 Te dongah Israel Pathen BOEIPA kah a uen vanbangla Joshua loh tlang paengpang boeih neh Negev khaw, kolrhawk neh tuibah khaw a tloek. A manghai boeih te rhaengnaeng om mueh la hiil aka khueh boeih khaw a thup.
So Joshua struck all the land, the hill country, the South, the lowland, the slopes, and all their kings. He left no one remaining, but he utterly destroyed all that breathed, as Yahweh, the God of Israel, commanded.
41 Te phoeiah Joshua loh Kadeshbarnea lamloh Gaza due, Goshen khohmuen pum neh Gibeon duelaa tloek.
Joshua struck them from Kadesh Barnea even to Gaza, and all the country of Goshen, even to Gibeon.
42 Tedae Israel ham te Israel Pathen BOEIPA loh a vathoh pah dongah ni te rhoek kah manghai rhoek neh a khohmuen te Joshua loh voei khat la boeih a buem thai.
Joshua took all these kings and their land at one time because Yahweh, the God of Israel, fought for Israel.
43 Te daengah Joshua neh Israel pum tah Gilgal kah rhaehhmuen la bal uh.
Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, to the camp to Gilgal.
