< Johan 4 >
1 Jesuh loh Johan lakah hnukbang muep a khueh tih a nuem te Pharisee rhoek loh a yaak uh tila Jesuh loh a ming.
When therefore the LORD knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John,
2 Tedae Jesuh amah long ngawn moenih, a hnukbang rhoek long ni a nuem.
(Though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples, )
3 Judea te pak a hlah tih Galilee la koep cet.
He left Judaea, and departed again into Galilee.
4 Te vaengah Samaria te a hil phai ham a kuek.
And he must essentially go through Samaria.
5 Te dongah Sychar la a khue Samaria kho puei kah Jakob loh a capa Joseph a paek khohmuen taeng te a pha.
Then comes he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
6 Teah te Jakob tuisih om. Te vaengah Jesuh tah yincaehnah lamloh thakthae tih tuisih taengah ngol.
Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.
Anih te Jesuh loh, “Ok ham kai m'pae lah,” a ti nah.
There comes a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus says unto her, Give me to drink.
8 Te vaengah a hnukbang rhoek tah kho khuiah caak lai hamla cet uh.
(For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy food.)
[Judah rhoek neh Samaria rhoek he a doca uh moenih].
Then says the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that you, being a Jew, ask drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.
10 Jesuh loh anih te a doo tih, “Pathen kah kutdoe neh nang taengah aka cal te unim tila na ming koinih amah taengah ok ham kai pae lah, ‘tila na bih sui tih tui hing nang m'paek suidae,” a ti nah.
Jesus answered and said unto her, If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that says to you, Give me to drink; you would have asked of him, and he would have given you living water.
The woman says unto him, Sir, you have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then have you that living water?
12 A pa Jakob lakah tanglue la na om pawtnim? Tuito he amah loh kaimih m'paek tih he lamkah te amah long khaw, a ca rhoek neh a saelhung long khaw a ok,” a ti nah.
Are you greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?
13 Jesuh loh anih te a doo tih, “He kah tui aka o boeih tah koep hal ni.
Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinks of this water shall thirst again:
14 Tedae kai loh ka paek ham tui te aka o tah kumhal ah hal tlaih mahpawh. Te phoeiah anih ka paek ham tui te tah dungyan hingnah ham anih ah aka phuet tuisih tui la om ni,” a ti nah. (aiōn , aiōnios )
But whosoever drinks of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. (aiōn , aiōnios )
15 Amah te huta loh, “Saya, te tui te kai m'pae lah. Te daengah ni tui ka hal pawt vetih tuithan la ka pawk pawt eh,” a ti nah.
The woman says unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come here to draw.
16 Amah te, “Cet, na va te khue lamtah hela ha lo,” a ti nah.
Jesus says unto her, Go, call your husband, and come here.
17 Huta loh a doo tih, “Va ka khueh moenih,” a ti nah.
The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, You have well said, I have no husband:
18 Va panga na khueh coeng dae tahae kah na khueh te na va la a om moenih, oltak te thui saw,” a ti nah.
For you have had five husbands; and he whom you now have is not your husband: in that said you truly.
The woman says unto him, Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet.
20 A pa rhoek loh hekah tlang ah a bawk uh. Tedae nangmih long tah Jerusalem kah aka om hmuen ah te bawk ham a kuek na ti uh,” a ti nah.
Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and all of you say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.
21 Jesuh loh anih te, “Huta aw, kai he n'tangnah lah. Tekah a tue ha pawk vaengah hekah tlang pawt ah khaw, Jerusalem pawt ah khaw pa te na bawk uh bitni.
Jesus says unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour comes, when all of you shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.
Khangnah khaw Judah rhoek lamkah ni a om.
All of you worship all of you know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.
23 Tedae a tue ha pai tih om coeng. Bawkkung taktak rhoek long tah pa te Mueihla neh oltak dongah a bawk uh ni. Amah aka bawk rhoek van te ni pa loh a toem.
But the hour comes, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit (pneuma) and in truth: for the Father seeks such to worship him.
24 Pathen tah Mueihla ni. Te dongah amah aka bawk loh mueihla neh oltak ah bawk ham a kuek,” a ti nah.
God is a Spirit: (pneuma) and they that worship him must worship him in spirit (pneuma) and in truth.
The woman says unto him, I know that Messiah comes, which is called Christ: when he has come, he will tell us all things.
26 Jesuh loh anih te, “Te tah nang taengah aka cal kamah ni,” a ti nah.
Jesus says unto her, I that speak unto you am he.
And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seek you? or, Why talk you with her?
28 Te dongah huta loh a amrhaeng te a toeng tih kho khuila cet.
The woman then left her water pot, and went her way into the city, and says to the men,
29 Te phoeiah a hlang rhoek te, “Halo uh lah, ka saii boeih aka thui hlang te so uh lah. Anih tah Khrih la om pawtnim?” a ti nah.
Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?
30 Te dongah khopuei lamloh cet uh tih amah te a paan uh.
Then they went out of the city, and came unto him.
31 Te rhuet ah amah te hnukbang rhoek loh a dawt uh tih, “Rhabbi, ca laeh saw,” a ti na uh.
In the mean while his disciples prayed him, saying, Master, eat.
But he said unto them, I have food to eat that all of you know not of.
33 Te dongah hnukbang rhoek loh amamih te, “Khat khat loh a caak koi khuen pah pawtnim,” a ti uh.
Therefore said the disciples one to another, Has any man brought him ought to eat?
34 Jesuh loh amih te, “Kai aka tueih kah kongaih saii ham neh amah kah bibi coeng ham te kai kah cakok la om.
Jesus says unto them, My food is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.
Say not all of you, There are yet four months, and then comes harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.
36 Aka at loh thapang a dang tih dungyan hingnah dongah cangthaih a coi coeng. Te daengah ni aka tuh neh aka at loh thikat la a omngaih eh. (aiōnios )
And he that reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit unto life eternal: that both he that sows and he that reaps may rejoice together. (aiōnios )
37 Hekah ol tah oltak pai ni. Aka tuh khaw a tloe, aka at khaw a tloe la om pai.
And herein is that saying (logos) true, One sows, and another reaps.
I sent you to reap that whereon all of you bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and all of you are entered into their labours.
39 Huta loh, “Ka saii boeih te kamah taengah a thui coeng,” tila ol a phong. Te dongah kho khui lamkah Samaria rhoek loh Jesuh te muep a tangnah uh.
And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying (logos) of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did.
40 Te dongah Samaria rhoek loh amah taengla a pawk uh vaengah amah te amih taengah rhaeh sak ham a bih uh dongah hnin nit pahoi rhaeh.
So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days.
41 Te vaengah a ol aka tangnah khaw taoe yet.
And many more believed because of his own word; (logos)
42 Te phoeiah huta te, “Na olcal dongah ka tangnah uh pawt dae kaimih loh ka yaak uh daengah ni he tah diklai kah khangkung la om tangtang tila ka ming uh,” a ti na uh.
And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of your saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.
43 Hnin nit phoeiah te lamloh Galilee la cet.
Now after two days he departed thence, and went into Galilee.
44 Tonghma loh amah tolrhum ah hinyahnah a dang pawt te khaw Jesuh amah loh a phong coeng.
For Jesus himself testified, that a prophet has no honour in his own country.
45 Khotue vaengkah Jerusalem ah a saii boeih te a hmuh uh. Amih khaw khotue te a paan uh. Te dongah Galilee la ha pawk vaengah tah Galilee rhoek loh amah a doe uh.
Then when he was come into Galilee, the Galilaeans received him, having seen all the things that he did at Jerusalem at the feast: for they also went unto the feast.
So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum.
47 Judea lamloh Galilee la Jesuh a pawk te anih loh a yaak vaengah a taeng la cet tih, “Duek hamla aka om a capa te hoeih sak ham ha suntla dae,” tila a bih.
When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judaea into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death.
Then said Jesus unto him, Except all of you see signs and wonders, all of you will not believe.
49 Rhalboei loh amah taengah, “Boeipa, ka capa te a duek hlan ah ha suntla dae,” a ti nah.
The nobleman says unto him, Sir, come down before my child die.
Jesuh loh anih taengah a thui olka te a tangnah dongah tekah hlang khaw cet.
Jesus says unto him, Go your way; your son lives. And the man believed the word (logos) that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way.
51 A suntlak neh anih te a sal rhoek loh oepsoeh la a doe uh tih a capa a hing pah te a thui pa uh.
And as he was now going down, his servants met him, and told him, saying, Your son lives.
52 Te dongah a then la a om nah a tue te amih taengah a cae. Te vaengah, “Hlaem khonoek parhih vaengah a satloh loh a hlah,” a ti na uh.
Then enquired he of them the hour when he began to amend. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.
So the father knew that it was at the same hour, in the which Jesus said unto him, Your son lives: and himself believed, and his whole house.
54 He he Judea lamkah loh Galilee la ha pawk vaengah Jesuh loh koep a saii a miknoek pabae ni.
This is again the second miracle that Jesus did, when he was come out of Judaea into Galilee.
