< Johan 11 >

1 Te vaengah Mary neh a manuca Martha kah a kho Bethany kah Lazarus tah satlo la om.
Now a certain man was sick, Lazarus from Bethany, of the village of Mary and her sister, Martha.
2 Tekah Mary tah Boeipa te botui neh aka hluk tih a kho te a sam neh aka huih ni. Anih kah nganpa Lazarus tah tlo.
It was that Mary who had anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother, Lazarus, was sick.
3 Te dongah amih boeina loh Jesuh te a tah tih, “Boeipa, na lungnah te tlo coeng he,” a ti nah.
The sisters therefore sent to him, saying, "Lord, look, the one you love is sick."
4 Jesuh loh a yaak vaengah, “Hekah tloh tah dueknah la om mahpawh tedae Pathen kah thangpomnah ham ni. Te daengah ni te lamloh Pathen capa te a thangpom eh,” a ti nah.
But when Jesus heard it, he said, "This sickness is not to death, but for the glory of God, that God's Son may be glorified by it."
5 Te vaengah Jesuh loh Martha, a mana neh Lazarus te a lungnah.
Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus.
6 Tedae a tloh te a yaak vaengah a om nah hmuen ah hnin nit bet naeh.
When therefore he heard that he was sick, he stayed two days in the place where he was.
7 Te phoeiah hnukbang rhoek te, “Judea la koep cet uh sih,” a ti nah.
Then after this he said to the disciples, "Let us go into Judea again."
8 Hnukbang rhoek loh amah te, “Rhabbi, Judah rhoek loh nang dae ham m'mae uh pueng lalah te la koep na cet aya?” a ti uh.
The disciples told him, "Rabbi, the Jewish leaders were just trying to stone you, and are you going there again?"
9 Jesuh loh, “Hnin at te khonoek loh hlainit a om moenih a? Khat khat long ni khothaih ah a pongpa atah he diklai kah vangnah te a hmuh dongah tongtah pawh.
Jesus answered, "Are there not twelve hours of daylight? If anyone walks in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world.
10 Tedae pakhat loh khoyin ah a pongpa atah anih ah vangnah a om pawt dongah a tongtah,” a ti nah.
But if anyone walks in the night, he stumbles, because the light is not in him."
11 Hekah he a thui phoeiah amih te, “Mamih paya Lazarus ip tih anih haeng ham ka cet ni,” a ti nah.
He said these things, and after that, he said to them, "Our friend, Lazarus, has fallen asleep, but I am going so that I may awake him out of sleep."
12 Te dongah hnukbang rhoek loh amah taengah, “Boeipa, a ih atah daem bitni,” a ti na uh.
Then the disciples said to him, "Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he will recover."
13 Jesuh loh anih kah dueknah kawng a thui. Tedae amih loh aka ip kah duemnah kawng a thui la a poek uh.
Now Jesus had spoken of his death, but they thought that he spoke of taking rest in sleep.
14 Te dongah Jesuh loh amih taengah sayalh la, “Lazarus duek coeng.
So Jesus said to them plainly then, "Lazarus is dead.
15 Tedae nangmih ham ka omngaih. Te daengah ni pahoi ka om pawt te na tangnah uh eh. Tedae anih taengla cet uh sih,” a ti nah.
I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, so that you may believe. Nevertheless, let us go to him."
16 Te dongah Didymus la a khue hnukbang Thomas loh, “Amah taengah duek puei ham mamih khaw cet uh sih,” a ti.
Thomas therefore, who is called Didymus, said to his fellow disciples, "Let us go also, that we may die with him."
17 Jesuh a pha vaengah anih te hlan khuiah hnin li a om coeng te a hmuh.
So when Jesus came, he found that he had been in the tomb four days already.
18 Bethany te Jerusalem phatom kah phalong hlainga tluk a hla ah om.
Now Bethany was near Jerusalem, about two miles away.
19 Te vaengah Judah rhoek khaw Martha neh Mary te a nganpa kongah suem hamla muep pawk uh.
Many of the Jewish people had come to Martha and Mary, to console them concerning their brother.
20 Te dongah Jesuh ha lo te Martha loh a yaak vaengah anih te a doe. Tedae Mary tah im ah ngol.
Then when Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went and met him, but Mary stayed in the house.
21 Te vaengah Martha loh Jesuh te, “Boeipa, he ah na om koinih ka nganpa duek pawt sue.
Therefore Martha said to Jesus, "Lord, if you would have been here, my brother would not have died.
22 Tedae tahae pataeng Pathen taengah na bih te tah Pathen loh nang m'paek ni tila ka ming,” a ti nah.
Even now I know that whatever you ask of God, God will give you."
23 Jesuh loh anih te, “Na nganpa te thoo bitni,” a ti nah.
Jesus said to her, "Your brother will rise again."
24 Martha loh, “Hnukkhueng khohnin kah thohkoepnah dongah thoo ni tila ka ming ta,” a ti nah.
Martha said to him, "I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day."
25 Jesuh loh anih taengah, “Kai tah thohkoepnah neh hingnah la ka om. Kai ah aka tangnah tah duek cakhaw hing ni.
Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will still live, even if he dies.
26 Kai aka tangnah tih aka hing boeih tah kumhal duela duek loengloeng mahpawh, he he na tangnah a?” a ti nah. (aiōn g165)
And whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?" (aiōn g165)
27 Amah te, “Thuem ngawn Boeipa, nang tah diklai la aka lo Pathen capa Khrih ni tila kan tangnah,” a ti nah.
She said to him, "Yes, Lord. I have come to believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, he who comes into the world."
28 Hekah he a thui phoeiah cet tih a mana Mary a khue tih, “Saya ha pai tih nang n'khue,” duem a ti nah.
And when she had said this, she went away, and called Mary, her sister, secretly, saying, "The Teacher is here, and is calling you."
29 Te loh a yaak vaengah hlat thoo tih Jesuh taengla cet.
When she heard this, she arose quickly, and went to him.
30 Te vaengah kho khuila Jesuh ham pha hlan dae Martha loh a doe nah hmuen ah om pueng.
Now Jesus had not yet come into the village, but was still in the place where Martha met him.
31 Im ah anih aka om puei Judah rhoek neh anih aka suem rhoek loh Mary hlat thoo tih a caeh te a hmuh uh vaengah aka rhap ham hlan la cet tila a poek uh tih a vai uh.
Then the Judeans who were with her in the house, and were consoling her, when they saw Mary, that she rose up quickly and went out, followed her, supposing that she was going to the tomb to weep there.
32 Mary loh Jesuh om nah a pha tih amah te a hmuh vaengah a kho kung ah bakop tih, “Boeipa, he ah na om koinih ka nganpa duek mahpawh,” a ti nah.
Therefore when Mary came to where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying to him, "Lord, if you would have been here, my brother would not have died."
33 Jesuh loh anih a rhah neh anih aka puei uh Judah rhoek kah a rhah te a hmuh vaengah a mueihla thanueih tih thuen.
When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Judeans weeping who came with her, he was deeply moved in spirit and was troubled,
34 Te dongah, “Melam anih na khueh uh?” a ti nah. Te vaengah Jesuh te, “Boeipa, ha lo lamtah so lah,” a ti na uh.
and said, "Where have you put him?" They told him, "Lord, come and see."
35 Jesuh tah mikphi bo.
Jesus wept.
36 Te dongah Judah rhoek loh, “Lazarus bahoeng a lungnah ke,” a ti uh.
The Judeans therefore said, "See how he loved him."
37 Tedae amih khuikah hlangvang loh, “Mikdael kah mik te aka tueng sak long he te khaw a duek pawt ham a saii thai moenih a?” a ti uh.
But some of them said, "Could not this man, who opened the eyes of him who was blind, have also kept this man from dying?"
38 Te dongah Jesuh tah a khuiah thanueih tih hlan la koep ha pawk. Tedae hlan te lungko la om tih lungto khoep yalh.
So Jesus, deeply moved again, came to the tomb. Now it was a cave, and a stone lay against it.
39 Jesuh loh, “Lungto te khoe uh lah,” a ti nah hatah aka duek kah a ngannu Martha loh, “Boeipa, hninli om coeng tih rhim coeng,” a ti nah.
Jesus said, "Take away the stone." Martha, the sister of the dead man, said to him, "Lord, by this time there is a stench, for he has been dead four days."
40 Jesuh loh anih te, “Na tangnah atah Pathen kah thangpomnah na hmuh ni tila nang taengah ka thui moenih a?” a ti nah.
Jesus said to her, "Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see God's glory?"
41 Te dongah lungto te a khoe uh. Te phoeiah Jesuh loh a mik te a dai hang tih, “A Pa, kai ol na hnatun dongah nang te kan uem.
So they took away the stone. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, "Father, I thank you that you listened to me.
42 Te phoeiah kai kah he na yaak yoeyah tila ka ming. Tedae hlangping loh m'pai thil dongah nang loh kai nan tueih te a tangnah uh ham ka thui,” a ti.
I know that you always listen to me, but because of the crowd that stands around I said this, that they may believe that you sent me."
43 Te phoeiah ol ue neh pang tih, “Lazarus. pawk ha cu,” a ti nah.
When he had said this, he shouted with a loud voice, "Lazarus, come out."
44 Te vaengah aka duek te a kut a kho himbaipen neh a yen tih a hman kah te himbaica neh a yol doela ha thoeng. Jesuh loh amih taengah, “Anih te hlam uh lamtah caeh sak uh,” a ti nah.
The man who had died came out, bound hand and foot with wrappings, and his face was wrapped around with a cloth. Jesus said to them, "Free him, and let him go."
45 Te dongah Judah khuikah te yet, Mary taengla a pha tih a saii te aka hmu long tah amah te a tangnah uh.
Therefore many of the Judeans, who came to Mary and had seen the things which he did, believed in him.
46 Tedae amih khuikah a ngen tah Pharisee rhoek taengla cet uh tih Jesuh loh a saii te a thui pa uh.
But some of them went away to the Pharisees, and told them the things which Jesus had done.
47 Te dongah khosoihham rhoek neh Pharisee rhoek loh khoboei a hueh uh tih, “Hekah hlang loh miknoek muep a saii dongah metlam n'saii eh?
The chief priests therefore and the Pharisees gathered a council, and said, "What are we doing? For this man does many signs.
48 Hetlam he anih n'hlahpham uh koinih anih te boeih a tangnah uh ni. Te vaengah Roman rhoek te ha lo uh vetih mamih kah a hmuen neh namtu khaw a khuen ni,” a ti uh.
If we leave him alone like this, everyone will believe in him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation."
49 Tedae amih khuikah pakhat, tevaeng kum kah khosoihham la aka om Kaiaphas loh amih te, “Nangmih loh pakhat khaw na ming uh moenih.
But a certain one of them, Caiaphas, being high priest that year, said to them, "You know nothing at all,
50 Hlang pakhat loh pilnam yueng la duek vetih namtu tah boeih a poci pawt koinih nangmih ham rhoei ngai tila na poek uh moenih,” a ti nah.
nor do you consider that it is advantageous for you that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation not perish."
51 Tedae hekah he amah lamkah a thui moenih. Tedae te kum kah khosoihham la a om dongah namtu ham Jesuh duek la a cai te ni a phong coeng.
Now he did not say this of himself, but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus would die for the nation,
52 Te phoeiah namtom ham bueng pawt tih taekyak tangtae Pathen ca rhoek te khaw pakhat la coicip ham pawn ni.
and not for the nation only, but that he might also gather together into one the children of God who are scattered abroad.
53 Te dongah te khohnin lamloh amah te ngawn ham a moeh uh.
So from that day on they plotted to kill him.
54 Te dongah Jesuh loh Judah rhoek lakliah sayalh la pongpa voelpawh. Tedae kho yoei kah khosoek Ephraim la a khue kho ah cet tih hnukbang rhoek neh naeh uh.
Jesus therefore walked no more openly among the Judeans, but departed from there into the country near the wilderness, to a city called Ephraim; and stayed there with his disciples.
55 Te vaengah Judah rhoek kah yoom tah om tom coeng. Te dongah amamih te ciim ham yoom hlanah paeng lamloh Jerusalem la muep cet uh.
Now the Jewish Passover was near, and many went up from the country to Jerusalem before the Passover, to purify themselves.
56 Jesuh te a toem uh tih bawkim khuiah a pai uh vaengah, “Nangmih ta metlam na poek uh? Khotue la ha pawk loengloeng mahpawh,” tila khat neh khat thui uh thae.
Then they sought for Jesus and spoke one with another, as they stood in the temple, "What do you think—that he is not coming to the feast at all?"
57 Tedae khosoihham rhoek neh Pharisee rhoek loh, “Khat khat loh a om nah a ming atah amah te tuuk ham ha puen saeh,” tila ol a paek uh coeng.
Now the chief priests and the Pharisees had given orders that if anyone knew where he was, he should report it, that they might arrest him.
