< Joba 8 >

1 Shuhi Bildad loh a doo tih,
Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said:
2 “He he me hil nim na thui ve? Na ka kah ol tah khohli bangla khuet coeng.
How long wilt thou speak such things? How long shall the words of thy mouth be like a strong wind?
3 Pathen loh tiktamnah he a khun sak tih, Tlungthang loh duengnah te a khun sak mai a?
Will God pervert judgment? Or will the Almighty pervert justice?
4 Na ca rhoek te anih taengah a tholh vaengah, amih te amamih kah boekoek kut dongla a tueih.
As thy children sinned against him, He hath given them up to their transgression.
But if thou wilt seek early to God, And make thy supplication to the Almighty, —
If thou wilt be pure and upright, Surely he will yet arise for thee, And prosper thy righteous habitation;
So that thy beginning shall be small, And thy latter end very great.
8 Lamhma kah cadil taengah dawt laeh lamtah, a napa rhoek khenah te soepsoei laeh.
For inquire, I pray thee, of the former age, And mark what hath been searched out by their fathers;
9 Mamih loh n'hlaem kah khaw m'ming uh moenih, mamih kah khohnin tah diklai mueihlip dongkah ni.
(For we are of yesterday and know nothing, Since our days upon the earth are but a shadow; )
10 Amih te na thuinuet pawt tih a, nang taengah a thui vetih, amih kah lungbuei lamloh olthui te a khueh eh?
Will not they instruct thee, and tell thee, And utter words from their understanding?
11 Nongtui pawt ah talik thawn tih, tui om mueh ah capu rhoeng a?
“Can the paper-reed grow up without mire? Can the bulrush grow without water?
12 Te te a duei pueng ah a hlaek pawt akhaw, sulrham boeih hmai ah rhae coeng.
While it is yet in its greenness, and is not cut down, It withereth before any other herb.
13 Pathen aka hnilh boeih kah caehlong neh lailak kah ngaiuepnah tah bing tangloeng.
Such is the fate of all who forget God; So perisheth the hope of the ungodly.
14 A uepnah neh a pangtungnah bumba im te khaw bawtboeng.
His confidence shall come to nought, And his trust shall prove a spider's web.
15 A im dongah hangdang dae pai thai pawh. Te te a kuel dae thoo pawh.
He shall lean upon his house, and it shall not stand; He shall lay fast hold on it, but it shall not endure.
16 Anih te khosae li ah thingsup tih a dum ah a dawn sai.
He is in full green before the sun, And his branches shoot forth over his garden;
17 A yung loh lungkuk dongah a ven tih lungto im te a hmuh.
His roots are entwined about the heap, And he seeth the place of stones;
18 Te te a hmuen lamloh a phuk van vaengah, ‘Nang kam hmu moenih,’ anih te a namnah.
When he shall be destroyed from his place, It shall deny him, saying, 'I never saw thee.'
19 He he a longpuei kah omthennah coeng koinih laipi tloe lamloh a poe uh khaming.
Lo! such is the joy of his course! And others shall spring up from his place”
20 Pathen loh cuemthuek hnawt ngawn pawt tih thaehuet kut te a moem moenih.
Behold, God will not cast away an upright man; Nor will he help the evil-doers.
While he filleth thy mouth with laughter, And thy lips with gladness,
22 Na lunguet rhoek loh yahpohnah a bai uh vetih halang kah dap tah om mahpawh,” a ti.
They that hate thee shall be clothed with shame, And the dwelling-place of the wicked shall come to nought.
