< Joba 31 >
1 Paipi te ka mik neh ka saii dongah me tlam lae oila te ka yakming eh?
A covenant I made for mine eyes, And what — do I attend to a virgin?
2 A so lamkah Pathen khoyo neh hmuensang lamkah Tlungthang rho te menim?
And what [is] the portion of God from above? And the inheritance of the Mighty from the heights?
3 Boethae ham rhainah neh boethae aka saii ham yoethaenah moenih a?
Is not calamity to the perverse? And strangeness to workers of iniquity?
4 Amah loh ka longpuei a hmuh tih ka khokan boeih he a tae moenih a?
Doth not He see my ways, And all my steps number?
5 A poeyoek taengah ka pongpa tih ka kho loh a hlangthai palat taengla a tawn uh atah,
If I have walked with vanity, And my foot doth hasten to deceit,
6 Duengnah cooi dongah kai n'khiing saeh lamtah Pathen loh ka muelhtuetnah ming saeh.
He doth weigh me in righteous balances, And God doth know my integrity.
7 Longpuei lamloh ka khokan a buung atah, ka mik hnukah ka lungbuei cet tih ka kut dongah a lolhmaih a kap atah,
If my step doth turn aside from the way, And after mine eyes hath my heart gone, And to my hands cleaved hath blemish,
8 ka soem vaengah a tloe loh ca saeh lamtah ka cadil rhoek te ha uh saeh.
Let me sow — and another eat, And my products let be rooted out.
9 Huta loh ka lungbuei a hlae tih ka hui kah thohka ah ka rhongngol atah,
If my heart hath been enticed by woman, And by the opening of my neighbour I laid wait,
10 Ka yuu loh a tloe la kuelh saeh lamtah a taengah hlang tloe bakop mai saeh.
Grind to another let my wife, And over her let others bend.
11 Te dongah te khonuen rhamtat neh te te thaesainah rhokhan ni.
For it [is] a wicked thing, and a judicial iniquity;
12 Te hmai loh Abaddon duela a hlawp tih ka cangvuei te boeih ha.
For a fire it [is], to destruction it consumeth, And among all mine increase doth take root,
13 Ka salpa neh ka salnu loh kai taengah a tuituk vaengah tiktamnah ka hnawt atah,
If I despise the cause of my man-servant, And of my handmaid, In their contending with me,
14 Pathen a thoh vaengah balae ka saii vetih n'hip vaengah amah te metlam ol ka mael eh?
Then what do I do when God ariseth? And when He doth inspect, What do I answer Him?
15 Bungko khuiah kai aka saii loh anih a saii moenih a? Kaimih he bung khuiah pakhat la n'cuen sak.
Did not He that made me in the womb make him? Yea, prepare us in the womb doth One.
16 tattloel kah kongaih te ka hloh pah tih nuhmai mik te ka khah sak koinih,
If I withhold from pleasure the poor, And the eyes of the widow do consume,
17 Kamah buhkam te kamah bueng loh ka caak tih cadah loh ca pawt koinih,
And I do eat my morsel by myself, And the orphan hath not eat of it,
18 Ka camoe lamloh napa bangla ka taengah pantai tih nuhmai khaw a nu bung lamloh ka mawt.
(But from my youth He grew up with me as [with] a father, And from the belly of my mother I am led.)
19 Pueinak mueh tih himbai tling la aka milh khodaeng te ka hmuh mai tih,
If I see [any] perishing without clothing, And there is no covering to the needy,
20 A pumpu, a pumpu ah kai n'uem uh vaengah ka tu mul neh ka hlung pawt mai koinih,
If his loins have not blessed me, And from the fleece of my sheep He doth not warm himself,
21 Vongka ah kai bomkung te ka hmuh vaengah ka kut he cadah soah ka ka thueng atah,
If I have waved at the fatherless my hand, When I see in [him] the gate of my court,
22 ka laengpang he a hnuk lamloh rhul saeh lamtah ka ban a cung dong lamloh tlawt mai saeh.
My shoulder from its blade let fall, And mine arm from the bone be broken.
23 Pathen taengkah rhainah te kai ham ka birhihnah la a om dongah a boeimangnah te ka noeng moenih.
For a dread unto me [is] calamity [from] God, And because of His excellency I am not able.
24 Sui te ka uepnah la ka khueh tih sui cilh te ka pangtungnah la ka thui koinih,
If I have made gold my confidence, And to the pure gold have said, 'My trust,'
25 Ka thadueng len tih ka kut loh a khuet la a hmuh dongah ka kokhahnah atah,
If I rejoice because great [is] my wealth, And because abundance hath my hand found,
26 Vangnah dongah a thangthen tih hla vang a thoeih te ka hmuh vaengah,
If I see the light when it shineth, And the precious moon walking,
27 ka lungbuei he yinhnuk ah hloih tih ka kut loh ka ka te mok koinih.
And my heart is enticed in secret, And my hand doth kiss my mouth,
28 He khaw a so kah Pathen taengah ka basa la om vetih thaesainah lai la om ni.
It also [is] a judicial iniquity, For I had lied to God above.
29 Ka lunguet kah yoethaenah dongah ka kohoe tih yoethae loh anih taengla a thoeng te ka haenghang puei atah,
If I rejoice at the ruin of my hater, And stirred up myself when evil found him,
30 A hinglu te thaephoeinah neh hoe hamla ka ka he laihmu la ka khueh aih moenih.
Yea, I have not suffered my mouth to sin, To ask with an oath his life.
31 Ka dap kah hlang rhoek loh, “U long nim a maeh te a cung pawt la a paek eh?” a ti uh moenih a?
If not — say ye, O men of my tent, 'O that we had of his flesh, we are not satisfied.'
32 Ka thohkhaih kah yinlai te caehlong ka ong pah tih vongvoel ah a rhaeh moenih.
In the street doth not lodge a stranger, My doors to the traveller I open.
33 Hlang bangla ka boekoeknah ka dah tih, kai kathaesainah he ka thindang ah ka det mai akhaw,
If I have covered as Adam my transgressions, To hide in my bosom mine iniquity,
34 hlangping te yet taengah ka sarhing tih huiko kah nueihbu loh kai n'rhihyawp sak. Te dongah ka kuemsuem tih thohka la ka moe pawh.
Because I fear a great multitude, And the contempt of families doth affright me, Then I am silent, I go not out of the opening.
35 Kai taengkah aka hnatun la kamah taengah u long nim m'paek lah mako? Ka kutha he Tlungthang loh kai n'doo saeh lamtah ka tuituknah he hlang loh cabu la daek saeh.
Who giveth to me a hearing? lo, my mark. The Mighty One doth answer me, And a bill hath mine adversary written.
36 Te te ka laengpang ah ka koh vetih te te ka soah rhuisam la ka laikoeinah het mahpawt nim?
If not — on my shoulder I take it up, I bind it a crown on myself.
37 Ka khokan tarhing la a taengah ka puen lah vetih anih te rhaengsang bangla ka paan lah mako.
The number of my steps I tell Him, As a leader I approach Him.
38 Ka khohmuen loh kai m'pang thil tih a kong te rhenten rhap koinih,
If against me my land doth cry out, And together its furrows weep,
39 A thadueng te tangka mueh la ka caak tih a kungmah kah hinglu ka yawn sak atah,
If its strength I consumed without money, And the life of its possessors, I have caused to breathe out,
40 Cang yueng la mutlo hling, cangtun yueng la saeldol khaw poe saeh,” a ti. Job kah ol bawt coeng.
Instead of wheat let a thorn go forth, And instead of barley a useless weed! The words of Job are finished.
