< Joba 11 >
1 Naamathi Zophar loh a doo tih,
Then Sophar the Minaean answered and said,
2 “Ol cungkuem te a doo moenih a? Hlang he a hmuilai ngawn tah tang dae ta.
He that speaks much, should also hear on the other side: or does the fluent speaker think himself to be righteous? blessed [is] the short lived offspring of woman.
3 Na olsai te hlang loh ngam vetih na tamdaeng vaengah a hmaithae mahpawt nim?
Be not a speaker of many words; for is there none to answer you?
4 Te vaengah, “Ka rhingtuknah he cil tih na mikhmuh ah a caih la ka om,” na ti.
For say not, I am pure in my works, and blameless before him.
5 Nang taengah aka thui la Pathen loh unim dawk a paek tih a hmuilai ong koinih.
But oh that the Lord would speak to you, and open his lips to you!
6 Lungming cueihnah he rhaepnit a lo dongah cueihnah olhuep te nang taengah a thui pawn ko. Namah kathaesainah lamloh Pathen loh nang n'hnilh te ming.
Then shall he declare to you the power of wisdom; for it shall be double of that which is with you: and then shall you know, that a just recompence of your sins has come to you from the Lord.
7 Pathen kah khenah na hmuh tih Tlungthang kah a khuetnah hil na hmuh a?
Will you find out the traces of the Lord? or have you come to the end [of that] which the Almighty has made?
8 Vaan la a sang te metlam na saii eh? Saelkhui lakah a dung te metlam na ming eh? (Sheol )
Heaven [is] high; and what will you do? and there are deeper things than those in hell; what do you know? (Sheol )
9 A himbaidok loh diklai lakah a puet tih tuitunli lakah dangka ngai.
Or longer than the measure of the earth, or the breadth of the sea.
10 A hil tih a tlaeng tih a tingtun sak phoeiah tah ulong anih a mael sak.
And if he should overthrow all things, who will say to him, What have you done?
11 Amah loh a poeyoek hlang rhoek khaw a ming ngawn dae boethae a hmuh vaengah yakming pawh.
For he knows the works of transgressors; and when he sees wickedness, he will not overlook [it].
12 Tedae tuihong hlang loh hloih koinih kohong marhang neh laak te hlang la a sak khaming.
But man vainly buoys himself up with words; and a mortal born of woman [is] like an ass in the desert.
13 Na lungbuei na cikngae tih a taengla na kut na phuel koinih,
For if you have made your heart pure, and lift up [your] hands towards him;
14 Na kut dongkah boethae te na lakhla tak tih na dap ah dumlai na khueh pawt atah,
if there is any iniquity in your hands, put if far from you, and let not unrighteousness lodge in your habitation.
15 A lolhmaih kolla na maelhmai na ludoeng van bitni. Na om vaengah khaw tluektluek na long vetih na rhih om mahpawh.
For thus shall your countenance shine again, as pure water; and you shall dive yourself of uncleanness, and shall not fear.
16 Nang ham tah thakthaenah te na hnilh vetih tui aka long voelh bangla na poek bitni.
And you shall forget trouble, as a wave that has passed by; and you shall not be scared.
17 Na khosak khaw khothun lakah sae vetih, a hmuep khaw mincang bangla om ni.
And your prayer [shall be] as the morning star, and life shall arise to you [as] from the noonday.
18 Ngaiuepnah a om dongah na pangtung vetih ngaikhuek la na too phoeiah na yalh bitni.
And you shall be confident, because you have hope; and peace shall dawn to you from out of anxiety and care.
19 Na kol vaengah na lakueng neh na maelhmai muep thae voel mahpawh.
For you shall be at ease, and there shall be no one to fight against you; and many shall charge, and make supplication to you.
20 Tedae halang kah mik tah kha vetih thuhaelnah khaw amih lamloh bing ni, a ngaiuepnah khaw hinglu polpainah la om ni,” a ti nah.
But safety shall fail them; for their hope is destruction, and the eyes of the ungodly shall waste away.
