The word which came to Jeremiah from Jehovah, after that Nebuzaradan, captain of the guard, had let him go from Ramah. For he had taken him, and he had been bound with chains among all the captives of Jerusalem and Judah which were carried away captive to Babylon.
2 Imtawt boeiping loh Jeremiah te a loh tih a taengah, “BOEIPA na Pathen loh he hmuen he thae a phoei coeng.
And the captain of the guard took Jeremiah, and said to him: “Jehovah, thy God, pronounced this evil against this place;
3 BOEIPA taengah na tholh uh dongah ni a. thui bangla BOEIPA loh a thoeng sak tih a saii. A ol te na hnatun uh pawt dongah ni he ol he a ol bangla nangmih taengah a thoeng.
and now Jehovah hath brought it, and done according as he spake, because ye sinned against Jehovah, and obeyed not his voice; therefore hath this thing come upon you.
4 Tihnin ah na kut dongkah thirhui dong lamloh nang kan hlam coeng ne. Na mik dongah a then atah kamah taengah Babylon la na lo mako. Na lo vaengah ka mik he nang soah ka khueh bitni. Tedae na mik ah a thae atah kai taengah Babylon la na lo ham khaw paa mai. Khohmuen pum he na mikhmuh ah na hmuh coeng. Na mikhmuh ah a then ham neh a thuem ham atah cet khaw cet mai.
And now, behold, I loose thee this day from the chains upon thy hands. If it seem good to thee to come with me to Babylon, come; and I will set my eyes upon thee; but if it seem evil to thee to come with me to Babylon, forbear; behold, the whole land is before thee; whither it seemeth good and desirable for thee to go, thither go.”

And while he was not yet gone away [[he said]]: “Go to Gedaliah, the of son Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon hath made governor over the cities of Judah, and dwell with him among the people; or go whithersoever it seemeth good to thee to go.” And the captain of the guard gave him provisions, and a present, and dismissed him.
6 Te phoeiah Jeremiah te Mizpah kah Ahikam capa Gedaliah taengla cet tih khohmuen kah aka om pilnam lakli ah kho a sak.
And Jeremiah went to Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, to Mizpah, and dwelt with him among the people that were left in the land.
7 Babylon manghai loh Ahikam capa Gedaliah te khohmuen kah ham a tuek. Babylon la a poelyoe pawh khohmuen kah khodaeng huta camoe hlang boeih anih a hung sak te kohong kah caem mangpa boeih neh a hlang rhoek loh a yaak uh.
Now when all the captains of the forces which were in the fields, they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, governor over the land, and had committed to his charge men and women and children, of the poor of the land, of them that were not carried away captive to Babylon,
8 Te dongah Mizpah kah Gedaliah taengla Nethaniah capa Ishmael, Kareah capa Johanan neh Jonathan, Tanhumeth capa Seraiah, Netophah koca ah Netophah Ephai, Maakathi capa Jezaniah neh a hlang rhoek te ha pawk uh.
then they came to Gedaliah, to Mizpah; namely, Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah, and Johanan and Jonathan, the sons of Kareah, and Seraiah, the son of Tanhumeth, and the sons of Ephai the Netophathite, and Jezaniah, the son of the Maachathite, they and their men;
9 Te vaengah amih ham te Shaphan koca Ahikam capa Gedaliah loh a toemngam tih a hlang rhoek taengah, “Khalden taengah thohtat ham te rhih boeh, a khohmuen ah kho na sak uh tih Babylon manghai taengah na thohtat uh daengah ni, nangmih ham a voelphoeng eh.
and Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, swore to them and to their men, saying, “Fear not to serve the Chaldaeans; dwell in the land, and serve the king of Babylon, and it shall be well with you.
10 Kai kamah he mamih taengla aka pawk Khalden rhoek kah a hmai ah aka pai ham ni Mizpah ah ka om. Tedae nangmih tah khohal misur neh situi te tung uh lamtah na ampul khuiah khueh uh. Na khopuei ah te khosa uh lamtah lo uh.
As for me, behold, I will dwell at Mizpah, to stand before the Chaldaeans, who shall come to us; but ye, gather ye in wine, and summer fruits, and oil, and put them in your vessels, and dwell in your cities which ye have taken.”
11 Babylon manghai loh Judah ah a meet a paih tih amih ham Shaphan koca Ahikam capa Gedaliah a khueh te Moab neh Ammon koca rhoek taengah, Edom neh diklai pum kah Judah boeih long khaw a yaak uh.
Also when all the Jews that were in Moab, and among the children of Ammon, and in Edom, and that were in all the countries, heard that the king of Babylon had left a remnant to Judah, and that he had set over them Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan,
12 Te dongah Judah rhoek he hmuen takuem lamloh boeih mael uh. Te ah te a heh uh coeng dae Judah khohmuen Mizpah kah Gedaliah taengla ha pawk uh. Te dongah khohal misur khaw a coi uh tih muep kum uh.
then all the Jews returned from all the places whither they were driven, and came to the land of Judah, to Gedaliah, to Mizpah, and gathered wine and summer fruits in abundance.
13 Te phoeiah kohong kah Kareah capa Johanan neh caem mangpa boeih khaw Mizpah kah Gedaliah taengla pawk uh.
And Johanan, the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces that were in the fields, came to Gedaliah, to Mizpah,
14 Te vaengah anih te, “Ammon koca kah manghai Baalis loh na hinglu ngawn ham Nethaniah capa Ishmael han tueih te na ming khaw na ming van nim,” a ti na uh. Tedae Ahikam capa Gedaliah loh amih te a tangnah moenih.
and said to him, “Dost thou know that Baalis, the king of the children of Ammon, hath sent Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah, to slay thee?” But Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, believed them not.
15 Te vaengah Kareah capa Johanan loh Gedaliah te Mizpah ah a huep la, “Ka cet laeh vetih Nethaniah capa Ishmael te ka ngawn mako, hlang loh ming aih mahpawh, na hinglu aka ngawn ham te baham nim? Na taengkah aka tingtun Judah pum he a taek a yak uh vetih Judah kah a meet khaw milh hae ni,” a ti nah.
And Johanan, the son of Kareah, spake to Gedaliah in private at Mizpah, saying, “Let me go, I pray thee, and smite Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah, and no man shall know it. Wherefore should he slay thee, that all the Jews which are gathered to thee should be scattered, and the remnant in Judah perish?”
16 Ahikam capa Gedaliah loh Kareah capa Johanan te, “Te hno te saii rhoe saii boeh, Ishmael kawng te a honghi ni na thui,” a ti nah.
But Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, said to Johanan, the son of Kareah, “Thou shalt not do this thing, for thou speakest falsely of Ishmael.”
