< Jeremiah 36 >

1 Judah manghai Josiah capa Jehoiakim te a kum li dongah a om vaengah he ol he BOEIPA taeng lamloh Jeremiah taengla ha pawk.
In the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, this word came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, saying,
2 “Cabu cayol te namah ham lo lamtah Josiah tue vaengkah nang taengah ka thui khohnin lamloh tahae khohnin duela nang taengah Israel kawng, Judah kawng neh namtom boeih kah a kawng ka thui ol boeih te daek thil.
“Take a scroll of a book, and write in it all the words that I have spoken to you against Israel, against Judah, and against all the nations, from the day I spoke to you, from the days of Josiah even to this day.
3 Amih soah saii ham ka moeh yoethae cungkuem te Judah imkhui loh a yaak uh khaming. Te daengah ni hlang he a longpuei thae lamloh mael uh vetih amih kah thaesainah neh a tholhnah te khodawk ka ngai eh,” a ti.
It may be that the house of Judah will hear all the evil which I intend to do to them, that they may each return from his evil way; that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin.”
4 Te dongah Jeremiah loh Neriah capa Barukh te a khue tih Jeremiah ka dongkah BOEIPA ol boeih neh cabu cayol dongah anih taengah a thui pah te Barukh loh a daek.
Then Jeremiah called Baruch the son of Neriah; and Baruch wrote from the mouth of Jeremiah all Yahweh’s words, which he had spoken to him, on a scroll of a book.
5 Te vaengah Jeremiah loh Barukh te a uen tih, “Kai he n'khaih coeng tih BOEIPA im la ka mop ham ka coeng moenih.
Jeremiah commanded Baruch, saying, “I am restricted. I can’t go into Yahweh’s house.
6 Te dongah namah kun lamtah ka ka lamkah BOEIPA ol na daek te cayol dong lamloh yaehnah hnin ah BOEIPA im kah pilnam hna ah hoe pah. A khopuei lamkah aka pawk Judah pum kah a hna ah khaw hoe pah.
Therefore you go, and read from the scroll which you have written from my mouth, Yahweh’s words, in the ears of the people in Yahweh’s house on the fast day. Also you shall read them in the ears of all Judah who come out of their cities.
7 Amih kah lungmacil loh BOEIPA mikhmuh ah a hal tih hlang he a longpuei thae lamloh mael uh khaming. BOEIPA loh he pilnam he thintoek neh kosi a phoei thil khungdaeng coeng,” a ti nah.
It may be they will present their supplication before Yahweh, and will each return from his evil way; for Yahweh has pronounced great anger and wrath against this people.”
8 Tonghma Jeremiah loh a uen bangla Neriah capa Barukh loh boeih a saii. Cabu lamkah BOEIPA ol te BOEIPA im ah a hoe.
Baruch the son of Neriah did according to all that Jeremiah the prophet commanded him, reading in the book Yahweh’s words in Yahweh’s house.
9 Judah manghai Josiah capa Jehoiakim te a kum nga a hla ko dongah a om vaengah Jerusalem kah pilnam boeih neh Judah khopuei lamloh Jerusalem la aka pawk pilnam boeih te BOEIPA mikhmuh ah yaehnah khueh ham a hoe uh.
Now in the fifth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, in the ninth month, all the people in Jerusalem and all the people who came from the cities of Judah to Jerusalem, proclaimed a fast before Yahweh.
10 Te vaengah BOEIPA im thai vongka kah thohka soah vangca kah cadaek Shaphan capa Gemariah imkhan om. Te lamloh cabu dongkah Jeremiah ol te Barukh loh BOEIPA im kah pilnam tom kah a hna ah a hoe pah.
Then Baruch read the words of Jeremiah from the book in Yahweh’s house, in the room of Gemariah the son of Shaphan the scribe, in the upper court, at the entry of the new gate of Yahweh’s house, in the ears of all the people.
11 Te vaengah cabu dongkah BOEIPA ol boeih te Shaphan koca Gemariah capa Mikhaiah loh a yaak.
When Micaiah the son of Gemariah, the son of Shaphan, had heard out of the book all Yahweh’s words,
12 Te dongah manghai im kah cadaek imkhan la suntla thuk. Te vaengah mangpa boeih, cadaek Elishama, Shemaiah capa Delaiah, Akbor capa Elnathan, Shaphan capa Gemariah, Hananiah capa Zedekiah neh mangpa boeih khaw tarha ana ngol uh.
he went down into the king’s house, into the scribe’s room; and behold, all the princes were sitting there, Elishama the scribe, Delaiah the son of Shemaiah, Elnathan the son of Achbor, Gemariah the son of Shaphan, Zedekiah the son of Hananiah, and all the princes.
13 Barukh loh pilnam hna ah cabu a tae vaengah a yaak ol boeih te Mikhaiah loh amih taengah a puen pah.
Then Micaiah declared to them all the words that he had heard, when Baruch read the book in the ears of the people.
14 Te vaengah mangpa boeih loh Nethaniah capa Jehudi, Shelemiah capa, Kushi capa te Barukh taengah a tueih uh tih, “Pilnam hna ah na tae cayol te na kut dongah hang khuen lamtah ha lo,” a ti nah. Te dongah Neriah capa Barukh loh cayol te a kut dongah a pom tih amih taengla cet.
Therefore all the princes sent Jehudi the son of Nethaniah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Cushi, to Baruch, saying, “Take in your hand the scroll in which you have read in the ears of the people, and come.” So Baruch the son of Neriah took the scroll in his hand, and came to them.
15 Te vaengah anih te, “Ngol lamtah kaimih hna ah tae laeh,” a ti na uh. Te dongah Barukh loh amih hna ah a tae pah.
They said to him, “Sit down now, and read it in our hearing.” So Baruch read it in their hearing.
16 Ol te boeih a yaak uh vaengah hlang he a hui taengah khaw birhih uh tih Barukh te, “He ol boeih he manghai taengla ka puen rhoe ka puen uh ham om,” a ti na uh.
Now when they had heard all the words, they turned in fear one toward another, and said to Baruch, “We will surely tell the king of all these words.”
17 Barukh te khaw a dawt uh tih, “Kaimih taengah thui laeh, a ka lamkah ol cungkuem he metlam na daek,” a ti na uh.
They asked Baruch, saying, “Tell us now, how did you write all these words at his mouth?”
18 Barukh loh amih te, “He ol cungkuem he a ka lamloh kai taengah a thui vaengah cabu dongah catui neh ka daek,” a ti nah.
Then Baruch answered them, “He dictated all these words to me with his mouth, and I wrote them with ink in the book.”
19 Mangpa rhoek loh Barukh te, “Namah khaw Jeremiah khaw cet rhoi lamtah thuh uh rhoi laeh. Mela na om rhoi khaw hlang loh ming boel saeh,” a ti na uh.
Then the princes said to Baruch, “You and Jeremiah go hide. Don’t let anyone know where you are.”
20 Te phoeiah vongup kah manghai taengla cet uh tih cayol te cadaek Elishama kah imkhan ah a khueh uh. Olka boeih te manghai kah a hna dongla a puen pa uh.
They went in to the king into the court, but they had laid up the scroll in the room of Elishama the scribe. Then they told all the words in the hearing of the king.
21 Te vaengah cayol aka lo hamla manghai loh Jehudi te a tueih. Cadaek Elishama imkhan lamloh hang khuen phoeiah tah Jehudi loh manghai kah a hna neh manghai taengah aka pai mangpa boeih kah a hna ah a tae pah.
So the king sent Jehudi to get the scroll, and he took it out of the room of Elishama the scribe. Jehudi read it in the hearing of the king, and in the hearing of all the princes who stood beside the king.
22 Manghai te a hla ko dongah tah sikca im ah kho a sak tih a hmai kah tapca te hmai a toih.
Now the king was sitting in the winter house in the ninth month, and there was a fire in the brazier burning before him.
23 Jehudi loh thohkhaih pathum pali a tae vaengah cadaek kah paihat neh a hlueng tih tapca kah hmai khuila a voeih. Te dongah cayol khaw tapca dongkah hmai khuiah a pum la tlum van.
When Jehudi had read three or four columns, the king cut it with the penknife, and cast it into the fire that was in the brazier, until all the scroll was consumed in the fire that was in the brazier.
24 Tedae manghai neh te ol cungkuem aka ya a sal boeih khaw birhih uh pawt tih a himbai khaw phen uh pawh.
The king and his servants who heard all these words were not afraid, and didn’t tear their garments.
25 Elnathan, Delaiah neh Gemariah long pataeng cayol te hoeh pawt ham manghai taengah a hloep uh dae amih ol te hnatun pawh.
Moreover Elnathan and Delaiah and Gemariah had made intercession to the king that he would not burn the scroll; but he would not listen to them.
26 Manghai loh manghai capa Jerahmeel neh Azriel capa Seraiah, Abdeel capa Shelemiah te a uen tih cadaek Barukh neh tonghma Jeremiah te a tuuk sak. Tedae BOEIPA loh amih rhoi te a thuh.
The king commanded Jerahmeel the king’s son, and Seraiah the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel, to arrest Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet; but Yahweh hid them.
27 Jeremiah ka dongkah ol lamloh Barukh kah a daek cayol te manghai loh a hoeh phoeiah khaw BOEIPA ol he Jeremiah taengla koep ha pawk.
Then Yahweh’s word came to Jeremiah, after the king had burned the scroll, and the words which Baruch wrote at the mouth of Jeremiah, saying,
28 Mael lamtah namah ham cayol a tloe lo laeh. Lamhma kah ol boeih te te dongah daek laeh. Judah manghai Jehoiakim loh a hoeh cayol lamhma dongkah ol te boeih om sak.
“Take again another scroll, and write in it all the former words that were in the first scroll, which Jehoiakim the king of Judah has burned.
29 Te phoeiah Judah manghai Jehoiakim te thui pah. BOEIPA loh he ni a thui. ‘Babylon manghai te ha pawk rhoe ha pawk vetih he khohmuen he a phae ni, a khuikah hlang neh rhamsa he a kangkuen sak ni,’ a ti te a khuiah na daek thuek na ti dongah cayol te na hoeh.
Concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah you shall say, ‘Yahweh says: “You have burned this scroll, saying, ‘Why have you written therein, saying, “The king of Babylon will certainly come and destroy this land, and will cause to cease from there man and animal”?’”
30 BOEIPA loh Judah manghai Jehoiakim kawng te a thui tangloeng ngawn coeng. David kah ngolkhoel dongah aka ngol te a taengah om mahpawh. A rhok te khothaih kholing neh khoyin vuelkoi dongah ni a voeih vetih a om eh.
Therefore Yahweh says concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah: “He will have no one to sit on David’s throne. His dead body will be cast out in the day to the heat, and in the night to the frost.
31 Amah neh a tiingan rhoek, a sal rhoek te khaw ka cawh ni. Amih kah thaesainah te khaw amih so neh Jerusalem khosa rhoek soah, Judah hlang soah ka thoeng sak ni. Yoethae cungkuem he amih ka phoei thil dae a hnatun uh moenih,” a ti nah.
I will punish him, his offspring, and his servants for their iniquity. I will bring on them, on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and on the men of Judah, all the evil that I have pronounced against them, but they didn’t listen.”’”
32 Te dongah Jeremiah loh cayol a tloe te a loh tih cadaek Neriah capa Barukh te a paek. Te phoeiah Judah manghai Jehoiakim loh hmai neh a hoeh cabu dongkah aka om Jeremiah ka lamkah ol boeih te a khuiah a daek. Ol te amah te khaw amah phek la muep koep a tom.
Then Jeremiah took another scroll, and gave it to Baruch the scribe, the son of Neriah, who wrote therein from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the book which Jehoiakim king of Judah had burned in the fire; and many similar words were added to them.
