< Isaiah 8 >

1 Te phoeiah BOEIPA loh kai taengah, “Namah ham hmaidan a len lo lamtah hlanghing kah cacung neh Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz tila a soah daek pah.
The LORD said to me, “Take a large tablet, and write on it with a man’s pen, ‘For Maher Shalal Hash Baz’;
2 Khosoih Uriah neh Jeberekiah capa Zekhariah kamah kah uepom laipai ka laipai sak ni.
and I will take for myself faithful witnesses to testify: Uriah the priest, and Zechariah the son of Jeberechiah.”
3 Tonghmanu taengah ka mop hatah vawn tih capa a cun. Te dongah BOEIPA loh kamah taengah, “Anih ming te Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz sui ne.
I went to the prophetess, and she conceived, and bore a son. Then the LORD said to me, “Call his name ‘Maher Shalal Hash Baz.’
4 Camoe loh, “A nu a pa,” a ti ham a ming hlan ah Damasku kah thadueng neh Samaria kutbuem te Assyria manghai loh a khuen ni.
For before the child knows how to say, ‘My father’ and ‘My mother,’ the riches of Damascus and the plunder of Samaria will be carried away by the king of Assyria.”
5 BOEIPA loh kai taengah a thui ham te a thap tih,
The LORD spoke to me yet again, saying,
6 Yuet yuet aka long Shiloh tui he pilnam loh a hnawt tih, Rezin neh Remaliah koca te a omthennah,” a ti.
“Because this people has refused the waters of Shiloah that go softly, and rejoice in Rezin and Remaliah’s son;
7 Te dongah Boeipa loh amih taengla tuiva puei tui neh Assyria manghai kah a thangpomnah cungkuem te dul a khuen pah coeng. A sokca rhoek te boeih a et pah vetih a tuikaeng rhoek khawboeih a li pah pawn ni ke.
now therefore, behold, the Lord brings upon them the mighty flood waters of the River: the king of Assyria and all his glory. It will come up over all its channels, and go over all its banks.
8 Judah khuila long vetih a yo vaengah a rhawn a muelh la kat ni. A phae kah a huup loh na khohmuen kah a daang te a bae la a khuk ni Immanu-El.
It will sweep onward into Judah. It will overflow and pass through. It will reach even to the neck. The stretching out of its wings will fill the width of your land, O Immanuel.
9 Pilnam rhoek sut luem uh lamtah rhihyawp uh, khohmuen khohla bangsang boeih loh hnakaeng saeh. Cihin hlin uh cakhaw rhihyawp uh hae, cihin hlin uh cakhaw rhihyawp uh hae.
Make an uproar, you peoples, and be broken in pieces! Listen, all you from far countries: dress for battle, and be shattered! Dress for battle, and be shattered!
10 cilsuep te dawtlet uh cakhaw paa uh ni. Olka thui uh cakhaw mamih kah Pathen taengah pai thai mahpawh,” a ti.
Take counsel together, and it will be brought to nothing; speak the word, and it will not stand, for God is with us.”
11 Te dongah BOEIPA loh thadueng kut neh kai m'voek tih, pilnam longpuei ah pongpa ham khaw kai n'toel.
For the LORD spoke this to me with a strong hand, and instructed me not to walk in the way of this people, saying,
12 Te vaengah, “Pilnam he a vennah ni,” a ti. Te boeih te lairhui la thui boeh. Anih kah mueipuelnah te rhih uh boeh, na sarhing uh boeh.
“Do not call a conspiracy all that this people call a conspiracy. Do not fear their threats or be terrorized.
13 Caempuei BOEIPA amah taengah ciim uh. Amah te nangmih kah rhimomnah neh nangmih sa aka rhing sak la om.
The LORD of Armies is who you must respect as holy. He is the one you must fear. He is the one you must dread.
14 Rhokso la om cakhaw Israel imkhui rhoi ham tah, tlohthae lungto la, hmuitoel lungpang la, Jerusalem khosa ham te pael neh hlaeh la om ni.
He will be a sanctuary, but for both houses of Israel, he will be a stumbling stone and a rock that makes them fall. For the people of Jerusalem, he will be a trap and a snare.
15 Amih te muep paloe uh vetih cungku uh ni. Te vaengah khaem uh vetih a hlaeh uh phoeiah a tuuk uh ni.
Many will stumble over it, fall, be broken, be snared, and be captured.”
16 Ciphuemyuhnah te puencak thil lamtah ka hnukbang rhoek taengah olkhueng te daeng pah,” a ti.
Wrap up the covenant. Seal the law among my disciples.
17 Te dongah Jakob imkhui lamloh a maelhmai aka thuh BOEIPA te ka rhingda tih amah te ka lamtawn.
I will wait for the LORD, who hides his face from the house of Jacob, and I will look for him.
18 Kamah neh a ca rhoek he kamah taengah BOEIPA loh miknoek la, Zion tlang ah kho aka sa caempuei BOEIPA taeng lamkah Israel kah kopoekrhai lam ni m'paek.
Behold, I and the children whom the LORD has given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the LORD of Armies, who dwells in Mount Zion.
19 Nangmih taengah thui uh saeh, rhaitonghma, hlang aka muep tih aka caitawk, hnam aka dawt rhoek. Pilnam he Pathen amah kah moenih a? Aka hing rhoek yueng la aka duek rhoek te dawt saeh a?
When they tell you, “Consult with those who have familiar spirits and with the wizards, who chirp and who mutter,” should not a people consult with their God? Should they consult the dead on behalf of the living?
20 Olkhueng neh ciphuemyunah ol bangla a thui pawt atah anih taengah khothaih om hlan.
Turn to the law and to the covenant! If they do not speak according to this word, surely there is no morning for them.
21 Vang khuiah a pongpa te khaw lalh sut vetih bungpong neh om ni. A lamlum vaengah nim te thintoek loh a manghai neh a Pathen te a tap vetih a thal la oeloe ni.
They will pass through it, very distressed and hungry. It will happen that when they are hungry, they will worry, and curse their king and their God. They will turn their faces upward,
22 Diklai la a paelki vaengah citcai, khobing kah mueirhih tamyin neh khohmuep long ni tarha a heh eh.
then look to the earth and see distress, darkness, and the gloom of anguish. They will be driven into thick darkness.
