< Hosea 8 >
1 BOEIPA im ah atha bangla na ka dongah tuki mop laeh. Ka paipi a poe uh tih ka olkhueng soah boe a koek uh.
[He shall come] into their midst as the land, as an eagle against the house of the Lord, because they have transgressed my covenant, and have sinned against my law.
2 Kai taengah tah, “Ka Pathen aw Israel he namah kah la ka ming uh,” tila rhap uh.
They shall soon cry out to me, [saying], O God, we know you.
3 Israel khaw hnothen a hlahpham dongah amah la thunkha loh a hloem ni.
For Israel has turned away from good things; they have pursued an enemy.
4 A manghai uh akhaw kai lamkah moenih. Boei dae ka ming moenih. A khoe uh ham ni a cak neh a sui te amamih muei la a saii uh.
They have made kings for themselves, but not by me: they have ruled, but they did not make it known to me: [of] their silver and their gold they have made images to themselves, that they might be destroyed.
5 Samaria aw, na vaitoca te hlahpham laeh. Te rhoek taengah ka thintoek loh sai tih, me hil nim cimnah te a noeng uh pawt ve.
Cast off your calf, O Samaria; mine anger is kindled against them: how long will they be unable to purge themselves in Israel?
6 Te te Israel lamkah tih kutthai long te te a saii. Samaria vaitoca he Pathen moenih a nuei a pil lamni a om eh.
Whereas the workman made it, and it is not God; therefore your calf, Samaria, was a deceiver:
7 Khohli a soem uh tih cangpalam la a ah uh. Canghli khaw a cangdueng om pawt tih buh la poeh mahpawh. Poeh cakhaw kholong loh a dolh mai khaming.
for they sowed blighted [seed], and their destruction shall await them, a sheaf of corn that avails not to make meal; and even if it should produce it, strangers shall devour it.
8 Isreal te a dolh coeng tih a taengah ngaihnah aka om pawh hnopai bangla namtom taengah om uh coeng.
Israel is swallowed up: now is he become amongst the nations as a worthless vessel.
9 Amih Assyria la cet uh tih Ephraim loh amah la aka pangoe kohong marhang a lunguem rhoek te a paang uh.
For they have gone up to the Assyrians: Ephraim has been strengthened against himself; they loved gifts.
10 Namtom taengah paang sitoe cakhaw amih te ka coi pawn vetih, mangpa rhoek kah manghai hnorhih hmuiah poeih uh pawn ni.
Therefore shall they be delivered to the nations: now I will receive them, and they shall cease a little to anoint a king and princes.
11 Ephraim loh tholh hamla hmueihtuk a ping sak dongah anih ham tah hmueihtuk tholh la a om pah ni.
Because Ephraim has multiplied altars, [his] beloved altars are become sins to him.
12 Ka olkhueng cungkuem he anih ham thawngrha hil a daek khaw ka daek coeng dae kholong kah bangla a ngai.
I will write down a multitude [of commands] for him; but his statutes are accounted strange things, [even] the beloved altars.
13 Kai kah kutdoe hmueih la maeh a nawn uh khaw pahoi a caak uh dongah BOEIPA loh amih a moeithen moenih. Amih kathaesainah te a poek pawn vetih amih kah tholhnah te a cawh ni. Amih te Egypt la mael uh ni.
For if they should offer a sacrifice, and eat flesh, the lord will not accept them: now will he remember their iniquities, and will take vengeance on their sins: they have returned to Egypt, and they shall eat unclean things amongst the Assyrians.
14 Israel loh amah aka saii vik te a hnilh tih bawkim a sak. Judah long khaw khopuei vong cak te a ping sak. Tedae a khopuei soah hmai ka tueih vetih a impuei a hlawp pah ni.
And Israel has forgotten him that made him, and they have built fanes, and Juda has multiplied walled cities: but I will send fire on his cities, and it shall devour their foundations.
