< Hosea 12 >

1 Ephraim loh khohli dongah luem tih kanghawn a hloem. Hnin takuem ah laithae tih rhoelrhanah te a ping sak. Assyria neh paipi a saii uh tih Egypt la situi a khuen.
Ephraim's food is the wind, and he goes after the east wind: deceit and destruction are increasing day by day; they make an agreement with Assyria, and take oil into Egypt.
2 BOEIPA he Judah neh tuituknah om. Jakob te a longpuei bangla a cawh vetih a khoboe bangla anih te a thuung ni.
The Lord has a cause against Judah, and will give punishment to Jacob for his ways; he will give him the reward of his acts.
3 Bungko khuiah a maya te a uelh sak tih Pathen te a thahuem neh a hnueih.
In the body of his mother he took his brother by the foot, and in his strength he was fighting with God;
4 Puencawn te khaw a hnueih tih a noeng. Rhap tih anih te a hloep. Amah te Bethel ah a hmuh tih mamih taengah pahoi a thui.
He had a fight with the angel and overcame him; he made request for grace to him with weeping; he came face to face with him in Beth-el and there his words came to him;
5 Yahweh ngawn tah caempuei Pathen la a om dongah amah mingthen khaw Yahweh ni.
Even the Lord, the God of armies; the Lord is his name.
6 Tedae nang tah na Pathen taengla mael laeh. Sitlohnah neh tiktamnah he ngaithuen lamtah na Pathen te lamtawn yoeyah lah.
So then, come back to your God; keep mercy and right, and be waiting at all times on your God.
7 Hnoyoi loh a kut dongah thailatnah cooi a khueh tih hnaemtaek ham a lungnah.
As for Canaan, the scales of deceit are in his hands; he takes pleasure in twisted ways.
8 Ephraim loh, “Ka boei ngawn, kamah hamla thahuem ka dang, ka thaphu boeih ni, ka khuiah tholhnah la thaesainah hmuh uh mahpawh,” a ti.
And Ephraim said, Now I have got wealth and much property; in all my works no sin may be seen in me.
9 Egypt kho lamkah parhi te nangmih kah Pathen Yahweh kamah long ni nang te dap khuiah tingtunnah khohnin kah bangla koep kho kan sak sak eh.
But I am the Lord your God from the land of Egypt; I will give you tents for your living-places again as in the days of the holy meeting.
10 Tonghma rhoek lamloh kan thui tih ka mangthui khaw yet coeng. Tonghma rhoek kut lamlong khaw ka puet sak.
My word came to the ears of the prophets and I gave them visions in great number, and by the mouths of the prophets I made use of comparisons.
11 Gilead kah boethae a om atah Gilgal ah om khaw a poeyoek. Vaito a nawn uh akhaw amih kah hmueihtuk te lai kong ah lungkuk bangla om.
In Gilead there is evil. They are quite without value; in Gilgal they make offerings of oxen; truly their altars are like masses of stones in the hollows of a ploughed field.
12 Jakob te Aram khohmuen la yong coeng. Israel he huta hamla thotat tih a yuu hamla a dawn.
And Jacob went in flight into the field of Aram, and Israel became a servant for a wife, and for a wife he kept sheep.
13 BOEIPA loh Israel te Egypt lamloh tonghma kut neh a khuen tih tonghma kut neh a ngaithuen.
And by a prophet the Lord made Israel come up out of Egypt, and by a prophet he was kept safe.
14 Ephraim loh kosidung te a veet dongah a thii te amah soah coe ni. A kokhahnah te a boei loh amah taengah a thuung ni.
I have been bitterly moved to wrath by Ephraim; so that his blood will be on him, and the Lord will make his shame come back on him.
