1 Josephte Egypt laa suntlak puei ngawn dae, anih aka suntlak puei Ishmael kut lamkahte Egypt hlang, imtawt mangpa, Pharaoh imkhoem, Potiphar loh pahoia lai.
Now, Joseph, was taken down to Egypt, —and Potiphar, courtier of Pharaoh, chief of the royal executioners, an Egyptian bought him, at the hand of the Ishmaelites, who had brought him down thither.
2 Tedae BOEIPAte Joseph taengaha om dongah hlang thaihtak la coeng tih a boei Egypt hoel kah im ah om.
And it came to pass that Yahweh, was with Joseph, so that he became a prosperous man, —and was in the house of his lord the Egyptian.
3 A boei long khaw, BOEIPAte Joseph taengah tih a saii boeih te a kut dongah BOEIPAloh a thaihtak sak tilaa hmuh.
And his lord saw, that, Yahweh, was with him—and that whatsoever, he was doing, Yahweh, was causing to prosper in his hand.
4 Josephte a mikhmuh ah mikdaithenlaa hmuh tih a taengah thotat. Te vaengah Potiphar loh a imte Joseph pum dongaha hlah pah. Te phoeiah a koe boeih te a kut aha tloeng pah.
So Joseph found favour in his eyes and waited upon him, —and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had, gave he into his hand.
5 Tedae a im neh a koe boeih tea hlah pah vaeng lamloh om tih, Joseph kong ah Egypt cako te BOEIPA loh yoethen a paek. BOEIPA kah yoethennahte a koe neh im, lo boeih dongla cet.
And it came to pass from the time that he made him overseer in his house and over all that he had, that Yahweh blessed the house of the Egyptian, for Joseph’s sake, —yea it came to pass, that the blessing of Yahweh, was with all that he had, in the house and in the field;
6 A koe boeih te Joseph kut aha hnoo pah van neh Egypt hoel loh buh caak bueng te a ming tih ba khaw amah loh ming pawh. Joseph ngawn tah a suisak sakthen tih mueimae sakthen la om.
so that he left all that he had in the hand of Joseph, and took note with him of nothing, save only the bread which, he himself, was eating. And so it was that Joseph was comely in form and comely in countenance.
7 Tedae hekah olka he a om phoeiah a boei kah a yuuloh a dan vaengah Joseph te a mik neh a nai tih, “Kai taengah yalh mai,” a ti nah.
And it came to pass after these things, that his lord’s wife lifted up her eyes unto Joseph, —and she said—Come! lie with me.
8 Tedae a boei yuu tea aal tih, “Ka boeipa loh im kah aka om te kai taengah ngaiyak mueh la a khuehtawn boeih te ka kut aha tloeng coeng.
And he refused and said unto his lord’s wife, Lo! my lord, taketh no note with me as to what is in the house, —but, all that pertaineth to him, hath he delivered into my hand:
9 Hekah im ah kai lakah aka len a om moenih. Tedae nang tah a yuu la na om dongah nang mueh atah ba khaw kai hama hloh moenih. Te dongah metlam lae boethae aka len he ka saii vetih Pathen taengah ka tholh sui dae,” a ti nah.
There is no one greater in this house than I, neither hath he withheld from me anything, save only thyself in that thou, art his wife, —how, then could I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?
10 Joseph taengah, khohnin khohnin a thui pah van dae a taengah yalh ham neh om hmaih ham te Joseph lohngaiyaknah pawh.
And it came to pass, that although she Spake unto Joseph day after day, yet hearkened he not unto her to lie beside her to be with her.
11 Tedae hnin at ah Joseph te amah kah bi saii ham im khuila a caeh van hatah, tekah im ah im om hlang te khat khaw om pawh.
And it came to pass, when, on a certain day, he went into the house to attend to his business, —and there was no man of the household, there in the house,
12 Te dongah Potiphar yuu loh Josephte a himbai aha tuuk tih, “Kai taengah yalh mai,” a ti nah. Tedae Joseph loh a himbaite anih kut aha caehtak phoeiah rhaelrham tih poeng la cet.
that she caught him by his garment, saying—Come! lie with me. Then left he his garment in her hand, and fled and gat forth outside,
13 Tedae a kut dongah a himbaia caehtak pa tih poeng laa rhaelrham vaengah te boeinuloh a hmu.
And it came to pass when she saw that he had left his garment in her hand, —and fled forth outside,
14 Te dongah a im kah tongparhoek tea khue tih, “So uh lah, mamih aka lawn la Hebrew hlangte mamih taengla han khuen. Kai taengah yalh ham kamah taengla m'paan dongah ol ue neh ka pang.
that she cried out to the men of her house and spake to them, saying, Look ye! he hath brought in to us a Hebrew man to insult us, —He came in unto me, to lie with me, so I cried out with a loud voice.
15 Tedae ka ol ka huel tih ka pang te a yaak hatah kai taegah a himbaia caehtak phoeiah rhaelrham tih poeng la cet,” a ti nah tih a thui pah.
And it came to pass, when he heard that I lifted high my voice, and cried out, then left he his garment beside me, and fled and gat forth outside.
16 Te phoeiah a boei loh a ima paan duela a kah himbaite amah taengaha khoem.
So she laid by his garment beside her, —until his lord should come into his house,
17 A taengah hekah olka banglaa thui pah tih, “Kai aka lawn ham ning taengahna det Hebrew sal loh ka taengah m'paan.
Then spake she unto him, according to these words, saying, —He hath been in unto me—the Hebrew servant whom thou didst bring in to us—to insult me.
18 Te dongah ka ol ka huel tih ka pang hatah a himbaite kai taengaha hnoo tih poeng la rhaelrham,” a ti nah.
And it came to pass when I lifted high my voice and cried out, then left he his garment beside me, and fled outside.
19 “Na sal loh kai hekah hno he a saii,” a tinah tih a taengaha thui a yuu kah olka te a boeiloh a yaak vaengah ngawn tah a thintoek ah pahoi sai.
And it came to pass, when his lord heard the words of his wife which she spake unto him saying, According to these words, hath thy servant done to me, Then was kindled his anger.
20 Te dongah Josephte a boeiloh a khuen tih manghailoh a khoh thongtla rhoek kah a hmuen, thong im aha khueh dongah thong im ah pahoi om.
So Joseph’s lord took him and delivered him up to the prison: the place where, the prisoners of the king, were imprisoned, —so he was there, in the prison.
21 Tedae BOEIPA loh Josepha om puei tih sitlohnaha tueng sak dongah thong im kah mangpa mikhmuh ah anihte mikdaithenlaa khueh.
And it came to pass that, Yahweh, was with Joseph, and extended unto him lovingkindness, —and gave him his favour in the eyes of the chief of the prison.
22 Te dongah thong im kah mangpa loh thong im kah thongtla boeih te Joseph kut aha paek tih saii hamkoi boeih te aka saii la Joseph khaw pahoi om.
So the chief of the prison delivered up, into Joseph’s hand all the prisoners who were in the prison, —and of all that was doing there, he, was the doer.
23 BOEIPA tah anih taengah om tih a saii te BOEIPAloh a thaihtak sak. Te dongah thong im mangpaaom pawt akhaw a kut hmuikah tah pakhat hilah boeiha sawt.
After nothing, was the chief of the prison looking, of whatever was in his hand, —in that Yahweh, was with him, and whatsoever, he was doing, Yahweh, was causing to prosper.
