Jacob heard Laban’s sons’ words, saying, “Jacob has taken away all that was our father’s. He has obtained all this wealth from that which was our father’s.”

Jacob saw the expression on Laban’s face, and, behold, it was not towards him as before.
3 Tedae BOEIPA loh Jakob te, “Na pa rhoek kah khohmuen neh na pacaboeina taengla bal ngawn lamtah nang taengah ka om bit ni,” a ti nah.
The LORD said to Jacob, “Return to the land of your fathers, and to your relatives, and I will be with you.”

Jacob sent and called Rachel and Leah to the field to his flock,

and said to them, “I see the expression on your father’s face, that it is not towards me as before; but the God of my father has been with me.

If he said, ‘The speckled will be your wages,’ then all the flock bore speckled. If he said, ‘The streaked will be your wages,’ then all the flock bore streaked.
9 Tedae na pa kah boiva te Pathen long ni a lat tih kai taengah m'paek.
Thus God has taken away your father’s livestock, and given them to me.

During mating season, I lifted up my eyes, and saw in a dream, and behold, the male goats which leapt on the flock were streaked, speckled, and grizzled.
11 Te phoeiah Pathen kah puencawn loh kai te ka mang ah, 'Jakob,” a ti tih, “Kai ni he,” ka ti nah.
The angel of God said to me in the dream, ‘Jacob,’ and I said, ‘Here I am.’

I am the God of Bethel, where you anointed a pillar, where you vowed a vow to me. Now arise, get out from this land, and return to the land of your birth.’”
14 Te dongah Rakhel neh Leahloh a doo vaengah, “A pa im kah hamsum neh rhote mamih ham om voel a?
Rachel and Leah answered him, “Is there yet any portion or inheritance for us in our father’s house?

For all the riches which God has taken away from our father are ours and our children’s. Now then, whatever God has said to you, do.”
17 Te dongah Jakob loh thoo tih a carhoek neh a yuurhoek te kalaukrhoek donglaa ngol sak.
Then Jacob rose up, and set his sons and his wives on the camels,
18 Te phoeiah a napa Isaak kah khohmuen Kanaan la caeh ham a boiva neh a kawna dang boeih te khaw, Paddanaram aha dang amah kah hnopai, boiva te khaw baata thawn.
and he took away all his livestock, and all his possessions which he had gathered, including the livestock which he had gained in Paddan Aram, to go to Isaac his father, to the land of Canaan.

Now Laban had gone to shear his sheep; and Rachel stole the teraphim that were her father’s.

Jacob deceived Laban the Syrian, in that he didn’t tell him that he was running away.

So he fled with all that he had. He rose up, passed over the River, and set his face towards the mountain of Gilead.
22 Tedae Jakoba yong tea hnin thum daengah Laban taengaha puen pah.
Laban was told on the third day that Jacob had fled.
23 Te dongah Laban loh amah manucarhoek tea khuen tih hnin rhih longcaeh due anih hnuk te a hloem phoeiah Jakob te Gilead tlang aha tuuk.
He took his relatives with him, and pursued him seven days’ journey. He overtook him in the mountain of Gilead.
24 Tedae Arammi hoel Laban te Khoyina mang ah Pathenloh a paan tih, “Namah te ngaithuen, Jakob taengaha then khawa thae lana thui ve,” a ti nah.
God came to Laban the Syrian in a dream of the night, and said to him, “Be careful that you don’t speak to Jacob either good or bad.”
25 Tedae Laban loh Jakoba tuuk vaengah Jakob loh amah kah dap te tlang aha tuk coeng dongah Laban neh a manuca rhoek long khaw Gilead tlang ah rhaeh uh.
Laban caught up with Jacob. Now Jacob had pitched his tent in the mountain, and Laban with his relatives encamped in the mountain of Gilead.
26 Te vaengah Laban loh Jakob la, “Balaena saii he. Ka thinko hena liim tih ka tanurhoek te cunghang kah a sol banglana hmaithawn.
Laban said to Jacob, “What have you done, that you have deceived me, and carried away my daughters like captives of the sword?
27 Yong hamte balae tihna phah, kai taengahna puen mueh la kai nan liim. Nangte kohoenah neh, laa neh, kamrhing neh, rhotoeng nen khaw kan tueih van mako.
Why did you flee secretly, and deceive me, and didn’t tell me, that I might have sent you away with mirth and with songs, with tambourine and with harp;
28 Ka carhoek so neh ka canurhoek soahte mok ham kai nan paek pawt khawna pavai coeng tih ni na saii.
and didn’t allow me to kiss my sons and my daughters? Now have you done foolishly.
29 Nangmih tea thae la saii ham ka thaa om ngawn dae hlaem yin ah na pa kah Pathen loh kai m'voek tih, 'Jakob tea thae neha then khaw thuite namah ngaithuen,’ a ti.
It is in the power of my hand to hurt you, but the God of your father spoke to me last night, saying, ‘Be careful that you don’t speak to Jacob either good or bad.’

Jacob answered Laban, “Because I was afraid, for I said, ‘Lest you should take your daughters from me by force.’
32 A taengah na khohnina hmuh te tah kaimih kah pacaboeina hmaiah hing boel saeh. Kai taengkah he namah loh hmat lamtah namah kah atah lo,” a ti nah. Tedae Rakhelloh a huen te Jakob loh ming pawh.
Anyone you find your gods with shall not live. Before our relatives, discern what is yours with me, and take it.” For Jacob didn’t know that Rachel had stolen them.
33 Te dongah Laban loh Jakob kah dap khaw, Leah kah dap neh taengom rhoi kah dap khuila cet daea hmuh pawt dongah Leah kah dap lamkah halo tih Rakhel kah dap khuila kun.
Laban went into Jacob’s tent, into Leah’s tent, and into the tent of the two female servants; but he didn’t find them. He went out of Leah’s tent, and entered into Rachel’s tent.
34 Tedae Rakhel loh sithui tea loh tih kalauk kah ngoldoelh khuiaha khueh tiha ngol thil dongah dap te Laban loh boeiha phatuem dae hmu pawh.
Now Rachel had taken the teraphim, put them in the camel’s saddle, and sat on them. Laban felt around all the tent, but didn’t find them.
35 Te vaengah Rakhel loh a napa taengah, “Ka boeipa mik ah sai boel mai. Kai taengah huta kah khosing om tih nang hmuh ah thoh ham ka coeng moenih,” a ti nah. Te dongaha sat akhaw sithui te hmu pawh.
She said to her father, “Don’t let my lord be angry that I can’t rise up before you; for I’m having my period.” He searched, but didn’t find the teraphim.
36 Tedae Jakob te sai tih Laban tea ho. Te vaengah Jakob loh Laban tea doo tih, “Kai kah mebang dumlai neh mebang tholhnah dongah lae kai hnukah nan hlak.
Jacob was angry, and argued with Laban. Jacob answered Laban, “What is my trespass? What is my sin, that you have hotly pursued me?
37 Tahaeah kai kah hnopai boeih tena phatuemtih na im kah hnopai khat khawna hmuh te kai kah pacaboeina neh nang kah paca boeina hmuh ah n'rha phoeiah man mamih rhoi laklo ah n'tluung uh rhoi sue.
Now that you have felt around in all my stuff, what have you found of all your household stuff? Set it here before my relatives and your relatives, that they may judge between us two.
38 Kum kul khuiah he nang taengah ka om coeng dae na tumanu neh na maae rhoek loh thangyah vai pawt tih na boiva khuikah a tal rhoek khaw ka ca vai pawh.
“These twenty years I have been with you. Your ewes and your female goats have not cast their young, and I haven’t eaten the rams of your flocks.
39 Sahate na taengla kan khuen pawh. Khoyinloh a huen khaw, khothaihloh a huen khaw nan suk dongah kai loh kamah kut lamkah neh ka kawn.
That which was torn of animals, I didn’t bring to you. I bore its loss. Of my hand you required it, whether stolen by day or stolen by night.
40 Khothaih ah kholing loh n'do tih khoyin ah rhaelnu loh m'boh phoeiah ka mik loh ih ham a hlavawt tih ka om.
This was my situation: in the day the drought consumed me, and the frost by night; and my sleep fled from my eyes.
41 Tahaeah kai loh nang im ah kum kul ka om khuiah na canu rhoi ham kum hlai li neh na boiva ham kum rhukte nang taengah ka tho ka tat dae ka thapang te voei rha la na hoi na lae.
These twenty years I have been in your house. I served you fourteen years for your two daughters, and six years for your flock, and you have changed my wages ten times.
42 A pa kah Pathen, Abraham kah Pathen neh Isaak kah birhihnahte kai taengah om pawt koinih kuttling la kai nan tueih tarha mai veh. Kai kah phacip phabaem neh ka kut kah a thatloh te Pathenloh a hmuh dongah ni hlaem yin ah a tluung,” a ti nah.
Unless the God of my father, the God of Abraham, and the fear of Isaac, had been with me, surely now you would have sent me away empty. God has seen my affliction and the labour of my hands, and rebuked you last night.”
43 Laban long khaw Jakob tea doo vaengah, “Hutarhoek te kai canurhoek tih tongparhoek te khaw kai ca rhoek ni. Boiva te khaw kai kah boiva tih namah loh na hmuh boeih te kai koe ni. Tedae tihninah ka canu rhoek, amih ham neh amih loh a sak camoerhoek ham balae ka saii thai voel.
Laban answered Jacob, “The daughters are my daughters, the children are my children, the flocks are my flocks, and all that you see is mine! What can I do today to these my daughters, or to their children whom they have borne?
44 Te dongah halo laeh! Kai neh nang paipi sai sih lamtah kai laklo nang lakloah laipai la om saeh,” a ti nah.
Now come, let’s make a covenant, you and I. Let it be for a witness between me and you.”
45 Te dongah Jakob loh lungtoa rhuh tih kaamlaa ling.
Jacob took a stone, and set it up for a pillar.
46 Te phoeiah Jakob loh amah kah paca boeina rhoek la, “Lungto rhut uh,” a ti nah. Lungto te a rhuh uh tih lungkuklaa saii uh phoeiah tah lungkuk taengah buh pahoia caak uh.
Jacob said to his relatives, “Gather stones.” They took stones, and made a heap. They ate there by the heap.
47 Te dongah tekah lungkuk te Laban loh Jegarsahduthaa sui tih Jakob loh Galeedlaa khue.
Laban called it Jegar Sahadutha, but Jacob called it Galeed.
48 Te phoeiah Laban loh, “Tihninah hekah lungkuk loh kai laklo neh nang lakloah laipai la om coeng,” a ti dongah a mingte Galeeda sui.
Laban said, “This heap is witness between me and you today.” Therefore it was named Galeed
49 Te phoeiah, “Hlang hui taeng lamloh n'thuh vaengah kai laklo neh nang lakloah BOEIPA loh n'tawt saeh,” a ti dongah Mizpah a sui.
and Mizpah, for he said, “The LORD watch between me and you, when we are absent one from another.
50 Ka ca huta rhoek te khoemna phaep tih ka carhoek hmanah yuuna loh atah mamih taengah hlang om pawt dae kai neh nang laklo kah laipai tah Pathen ni tila hmu sih.
If you afflict my daughters, or if you take wives in addition to my daughters, no man is with us; behold, God is witness between me and you.”
51 Te phoeiah Laban loh Jakob te, “Lungkuk he khaw kaam he khaw ne, te ni kai laklo neh nang laklo ah kan thuinuet.
Laban said to Jacob, “See this heap, and see the pillar, which I have set between me and you.
52 Boethae ham khaw hekah lungkuk neh kaam he tah kai loh nang taengla hekah lungkuk kan poeng pawt ham neh nang khaw kai taenglana poe pawt ham hekah lungkuk neh kaam he laipai la om saeh.
May this heap be a witness, and the pillar be a witness, that I will not pass over this heap to you, and that you will not pass over this heap and this pillar to me, for harm.
53 Abraham kah Pathen neh Nakhaw kah Pathen, a napa kah Pathen loh mamih lakloah laitloek uh saeh,” a ti nah. Te phoeiah Jakob loh a napa Isaak kah birhihnah neha toemngam.
The God of Abraham, and the God of Nahor, the God of their father, judge between us.” Then Jacob swore by the fear of his father, Isaac.
54 Te dongah Jakob loh tlang ah hmueiha nawn phoeiah buh ca la amah huiko tea khue. Buha caak uh phoeiah tlang ah rhaeh uh.
Jacob offered a sacrifice in the mountain, and called his relatives to eat bread. They ate bread, and stayed all night in the mountain.
55 Labante mincang ah thoo tih a carhoek neh a canurhoek tea mok. Te phoeiah amih te yoethen a paek. Te phoeiah cet tih Laban khaw amah hmuen la mael.
Early in the morning, Laban rose up, and kissed his sons and his daughters, and blessed them. Laban departed and returned to his place.
