< Suencuek 11 >
1 Te vaengah diklai pum ah ol pakhat neh olka thikat laom.
The whole earth was of one language and of one speech.
2 Tedae amih te khothoeng laa puen uh hatah Shinar khohmuenah kolbawna hmuh uh tih teah te kho a sak uh.
As they traveled east, they found a plain in the land of Shinar, and they lived there.
3 Te vaengah hlangloh a hui taengah, “Halo, laiboeng sai uhsih lamtah hmai neh tik uh sih,” a ti uh. Te dongah lungto yueng la laiboeng tea khuehtih taplai yueng la lungpaata khueh uh.
They said to one another, “Come, let’s make bricks, and burn them thoroughly.” They had brick for stone, and they used tar for mortar.
4 Te vaengah, “Lo lah, mamih ham khopuei neh rhaltoengim khaw, a soite vaan duela sa uh sih. Te dongah mamih ham ming khueh sih, diklai pum kah mikhmuh ah vik n'taekyak uh ve,” a ti uh.
They said, “Come, let’s build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top reaches to the sky, and let’s make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad on the surface of the whole earth.”
5 Tedae khopuei te hmuh ham BOEIPA ha pawk vaengah hlang ca rhoek loh rhaltoengim te ana sak uh.
The LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men built.
6 BOEIPA loh amih he pilnam pakhat neh ol pakhat la boeih a om uh dongah saii hama mangtaeng uh khaw saii hama tong uh hatah amih ham lol tlaih pawt la he!
The LORD said, “Behold, they are one people, and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do. Now nothing will be withheld from them, which they intend to do.
7 Ceh, suntla uhsih lamtah amih ol te thoek pah sih. Te daengah ni hlang loh a hui kah hmuilai te a yaak pawt eh?,” a ti.
Come, let’s go down, and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.”
8 Te dongah BOEIPA loh amih te diklai hman boeih aha taekyak tih khopuei thoh ham khawa toeng uh.
So the LORD scattered them abroad from there on the surface of all the earth. They stopped building the city.
9 He kongah BOEIPA loh diklai pum kah ol he pahoia thoek pah tih a mingte Babylona sui. Te lamlong tah BOEIPA loh amihte diklai hman boeih aha taekyak.
Therefore its name was called Babel, because there the LORD confused the language of all the earth. From there, the LORD scattered them abroad on the surface of all the earth.
