< Sunglatnah 5 >

1 Te phoeiah Moses neh Aaronte cet rhoi tih Pharaoh te, “Israel Pathen BOEIPA loh, 'Ka pilnam he hlah lamtah khosoek kah kamah taengah lam uh saeh,’ a ti,” a ti nah rhoi.
And after this went in Moses and Aaron to Pharao, and they said to him, These things says the Lord God of Israel, Send my people away, that they may keep a feast to me in the wilderness.
2 Tedae Pharaoh loh, “U BOEIPA nim a ol te ngai vetih Israel te ka hlah eh? BOEIPA te ka ming pawt dongah Israel te ka hlah mahpawh,” a ti nah.
And Pharao said, Who is he that I should listen to his voice, so that I should send away the children of Israel? I do not know the Lord, and I will not let Israel go.
3 Te phoeiah, “Hebrew rhoek kah Pathen loh kaimih te n'doe. Longpuei hnin thum caeh kah khosoek ah ka cet uh mai eh. BOEIPA ka Pathen te ka nawn uh pawn eh. Kaimih he duektahaw neh, cunghang neh n'cuuk tarha ve,” a ti nah rhoi.
And they say to him, The God of the Hebrews has called us to him: we will go therefore a three days' journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to the Lord our God, lest at any time death or slaughter happen to us.
4 Tedae Egypt manghai loh amih rhoi te, “Moses neh Aaron, balae tih pilnam te a bitatna hlahpham sak, namah bi la cet,” a ti nah.
And the king of Egypt said to them, Why do you, Moses and Aaron, turn the people from their works? depart each of you to your works.
5 Te vaengah Pharaoh loh, “Khohmuen pilnam loh yet coeng tih amamih khaw a bitloh lamkahna kangkuen sak ke,” a ti.
And Pharao said, Behold now, the people is very numerous; let us not then give them rest from their work.
6 Te khohnin ah tah Pharaoh loh pilnam sokah aka tueihnorhoek neh a rhoiboei rhoek te a uen.
And Pharao gave orders to the taskmasters of the people and the accountants, saying,
7 “Hlaem hlaemvai kah bangla laiboeng aka saii pilnam te cangkong paek ham vaengah koei pa uh boeh. Amamih cet uh saeh lamtah amamih ham cangkongte coi uh saeh.
You shall no longer give straw to the people for brick-making as yesterday and the third day; but let them go themselves, and collect straw for themselves.
8 Tedae laiboeng kah a lan a tang tah amih taengah hlaem hlaemvai kah, a saii bangla khueh uh lamtah yueh pah boeh. A duem uh ham tangloeng ni pang uh tangkhuet tih, 'Ka Pathen te nawn ham ka cet ni, ' a ti uh.
And you shall impose on them daily the rate of brick-making which they perform: you shall not abate anything, for they are idle; therefore have they cried, saying, Let us arise and do sacrifice to our God.
9 Hlangrhoek ham thohtatnahloh a nan daengah ni te tea saii uh vetih laithae ol taenglaa mang uh pawt eh?,” a ti nah.
Let the works of these men be made grievous, and let them care for these things, and not care for vain words.
10 Te phoeiah pilnam aka tueihno neh a rhoiboei rhoek te cet uh tih pilnam tea voek uh. Te vaengah, “Pharaoh loh, “Nangmih te cangkong kam pae mahpawh,’ a ti.
And the taskmasters and the accountants hastened them, and they spoke to the people, saying, thus says Pharao, I [will] give you straw no longer.
11 Namamih cet uh lamtah me lamkah a hmuh uh akhaw cangkong te namamih loh vawthaih uh. Tedae ol vanbangla na thohtatnah te hnop boeh,” a ti nah.
Go you, yourselves, get for yourselves straw whenever you can find it, for nothing is diminished from your rate.
12 Te vaengah pilnamte cangkong yueng la divawt coi ham Egypt kho tom ah taekyak uh.
So the people were dispersed in all the land of Egypt, to gather stubble for straw.
13 Te vaengah aka tueihno rhoek loh a tanolhuh tih, “Cangkonga om vaengkah bangla hnin at kah na bi tueng hnote amah khohnin ah coeng uh,” a ti.
and the taskmasters hastened them, saying, Fulfil your regular daily tasks, even as when straw was given you.
14 Amih sokaha khueh Pharaoh kah a tueihno rhoek loh Israel ca rhoek kah rhoiboei te a ngawnuh tih, “Hlaem hlavai kah bangla saii ham khaw hlaem neh tihnin kah khaw balaetih na oltlueh te na coeng uh pawh,” a ti na uh.
And the accountants of the race of the children of Israel, who were set over them by the masters of Pharao, were scourged, [[and questioned, ] men] saying, Why have you not fulfilled your rates of brick work as yesterday and the third day, today also?
15 Te dongah Israel ca rhoek kah rhoiboei rhoek te cet uh tih Pharaoh taengah panguh tih, “Balae tih na salrhoek taengah he he na saii.
And the accountants of the children of Israel went in and cried to Pharao, saying, Why do you act thus to your servants?
16 Na salrhoek he cangkong m'paek pawt ah kaimih taengah laiboeng saii ham a thui uh. Na pilnama tholh akhaw na sal rhoek ni n'ngawn uh coeng he,” a ti na uh.
Straw is not given to your servants, and they tell us to make brick; and behold your servants have been scourged: you will therefore injure your people.
17 Tedae, “Nangmih aka duem la aka duem rhoek, nangmih loh BOEIPA taengah hmueih nawn la caeh ham na thui tangkhuet.
And he said to them, You are idle, you are idlers: therefore you say, Let us go [and] do sacrifice to our God.
18 Te dongah lcet uh lamtah thotat uh laeh. Nangmih te cangkong m'paek pawt akhaw laiboeng tah a rhimong hil pae uh,” a ti nah.
Now then go and work, for straw shall not be given to you, yet you shall return the rate of bricks.
19 “Amah khohnin ah hnin at kah olka bangla na laiboeng te hnop boeh,” a ti coeng dongah amihloh a yoethae a puei te Israel ca kah rhoiboei rhoek loh a hmuh uh.
And the accountants of the children of Israel saw themselves in an evil plight, [men] saying, You shall not fail to deliver the daily rate of the brick-making.
20 Pharaoh taeng lamloh a nong vaengah amih rhoi doe ham aka pai rhoek te Moses neh Aaron te a doo uh.
And they met Moses and Aaron coming forth to meet them, as they came forth from Pharao.
21 Te vaengah amih rhoi te, “BOEIPA loh nangmih te m'hmu lamtah laitloek nawn saeh. Mamih kah hmuehmuei te Pharaoh mik ah bo a rhim sak tih a salrhoek mikhmuh ah mamih ngawn ham a kut ah cunghanga paek,” a ti rhoi.
And they said to them, The Lord look upon you and judge you, for you have made our savor abominable before Pharao, and before his servants, to put a sword into his hands to kill us.
22 Te dongah Moseste BOEIPA taengla mael tih, “Ka Boeipa aw, balae tih pilnam soah thae na huet? Balae tih he la kai nan tueih?
And Moses turned to the Lord, and said, I pray, Lord, why have you afflicted this people? and therefore have you sent me?
23 Na ming neh thui ham Pharaoh taengla ka pawk lamkahte pilnam he ni thae a huet thil tih na pilnam tena huul khaw na huul hae moenih,” a ti nah.
For from the time that I went to Pharao to speak in your name, he has afflicted this people, and you have not delivered your people.
