< Olrhaepnah 22 >
1 Na manuca kah vaito khaw, a tu khaw a tloeng tena hmuh vaengah thuh pah boeh. Na manuca taengah thak rhoe la thak.
Thou shalt not see thy brother’s ox or his sheep go astray, and without thy help from them: thou shalt in any case bring them again to thy brother.
2 Te dongah nang te na manuca neh na yoei pawt tih anih te na ming pawt atah namah im khui la khuen lamtah na manuca loh han tlap tih anih taenglana bal hil namah taengah om saeh.
And if thy brother shall not be near to thee, or if thou shalt not know him, then thou shalt bring it to thy own house, and it shall be with thee until thy brother shall seek after it, and thou shalt restore it to him again.
3 Te vanbangla a laak khaw saii pah lamtah a himbai khaw saiipah. Te phoeiah na manuca kah hnohma boeih khawte tlamte saiipah. Anih taengkahaka hma tena hmuh atah om vapsa hamla ngaih boeh.
In like manner shalt thou do with his donkey; and so shalt thou do with his raiment; and with all lost things of thy brother’s, which he hath lost, and thou hast found, shalt thou do likewise: thou mayest not without thy help.
4 Na manuca kah laak khaw, a vaito khaw long aha cungku tena hmuh lalah te lamkahte thuhuh boeh. Anih te thoh rhoela thoh puei.
Thou shalt not see thy brother’s donkey or his ox fall down by the way, and without thy help from them: thou shalt surely help him to lift them up again.
5 Tongpa kah hnopaite huta pum dongla om boel saeh lamtah huta himbaite tongpaloh bai boel saeh. Te tla aka saii boeihte BOEIPA na Pathenkaha tueilaehkoi ni.
A woman shall not wear that which pertaineth to a man, neither shall a man put on a woman’s garment: for all that do so are abomination to the LORD thy God.
6 Na mikhmuh kah long taengah thing boeih dongah khaw, diklai dongah vaa bu khaw, vapuel neha duei khaw a tong mai ni. Tedae vapuel so neha duei soahaka oia manu khaw a manu te a ca neh lo boeh.
If a bird’s nest shall chance to be before thee in the way on any tree, or on the ground, whether with young ones, or eggs, and the dam sitting upon the young, or upon the eggs, thou shalt not take the dam with the young:
7 Vapuel te namah hamna lo mai cakhawa manu tah hlah rhoe hlah. Te daengahni namah ham khaw then vetihna hinglunga vang eh.
But thou shalt surely let the dam go, and take the young to thee; that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest prolong thy days.
8 Im thaina sak atah na imphu ah longkhawnna saii ni. Te daengahni te lamkahaka cungkuloh cungku cakhaw na imphu kah hlang thiina yook pawt eh.
When thou buildest a new house, then thou shalt make a low wall for thy roof, that thou mayest not bring blood upon thy house, if any man shall fall from there.
9 Na misuraka coomte tue boeh. Cangtiina tuhkaha thaihhmin neh misur thaih te na poeih ve.
Thou shalt not sow thy vineyard with two kinds of seeds: lest the fruit of thy seed which thou hast sown, and the fruit of thy vineyard, should be defiled.
10 Vaito neh laak te hmaih bok boeh.
Thou shalt not plow with an ox and a donkey together.
11 Tumul neh hlamika yaepte hmaih bai boeh.
Thou shalt not wear a garment woven of woollen and linen together.
12 Na himbai dongkah a hmoi pali dongah namah loh sihno bang lamtah bai.
Thou shalt make thee fringes upon the four quarters of thy vesture, with which thou coverest thyself.
13 Hlang pakhat loh yuua loh tiha kun thil coeng daea hmuhuet dongah,
If any man shall take a wife, and go in to her, and hate her,
14 a olka, a khoboe khaw a yuu taengah a tloe la vik a khueh mai ni. Te phoeiah anih te ming thae phueih sak ham a ngaih tih, “Hekah huta he ka loh tih a taengla ka kun vaengah anih hea cuemnah ka hmuh moenih,” a ti thai.
And give occasions of speech against her, and bring an evil name upon her, and say, I took this woman, and when I came to her, I found her not a maid:
15 Te vaengah hula te hula amah kah a napa neh a manuloh lo saeh. Te phoeiah hula te hula kah cuemnah neh khopuei vongka kah patongrhoek taengah thak saeh.
Then shall the father of the damsel, and her mother, take and bring forth the tokens of the damsel’s virginity to the elders of the city in the gate:
16 Te vaengah hulakaha napaloh patongrhoek taengah, “Hekah hlang taengaha yuu la ka canu ka paek dae vik a hnoel.
And the damsel’s father shall say to the elders, I gave my daughter to this man for a wife, and he hateth her;
17 Te dongaha khoboe neh ola saii tih, “Na canu tea cuemnah ka hmu pawh,” a ti tarha. Tedae ka canukaha cuemnah tah he pawn ni,” ti saeh lamtah khopuei patongrhoek kah mikhmuh ah himbaite phaih uh saeh.
And, lo, he hath given occasions of speech against her, saying, I found not thy daughter a maid; and yet these are the tokens of my daughter’s virginity. And they shall spread the cloth before the elders of the city.
18 Te vaengah tekah hlang te khopuei patong rhoek loh lo uh saeh lamtah toel uh saeh.
And the elders of that city shall take that man and chastise him;
19 Anih loh Israel oila te ming thaea phueih sak dongah tangka yakhat neh sah sak uh saeh lamtah hulakaha napa te pae uh saeh. Te daengah anih yuu la om vetih a hing tue khuiah anihte tueih hamlaa noeng pawt eh.
And they shall fine him an hundred shekels of silver, and give them to the father of the damsel, because he hath brought an evil name upon a virgin of Israel: and she shall be his wife; he may not put her away all his days.
20 Tedae olka he oltak la omtih hula kah hulaa cuemnah te a hmuhuh pawt mai ni.
But if this thing shall be true, and the tokens of virginity be not found for the damsel:
21 Te vaengah hula te a napa im kah thohka taengla khuen uh saeh. Te phoeiah anihte khopuei kah tongpa rhoek loh lungto neh dae uh saeh lamtah duek saeh. A napa imkaha cukhalh neh Israel khuiah boethae halanga saii. Te dongah boethae na khui lamloh khoe.
Then they shall bring out the damsel to the door of her father’s house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she may die: because she hath wrought folly in Israel, to play the harlot in her father’s house: so shalt thou remove evil from among you.
22 Valoh a yuunah tangtae huta te tongpaloh a yalh puei vaengaha uum atah hlang yuu taengahaka yalh tongpa khaw huta khaw a boktlap la duek saeh. Te dongah boethae tah Israelkhui lamloh khoe.
If a man shall be found lying with a woman married to an husband, then they shall both of them die, both the man that lay with the woman, and the woman: so shalt thou remove evil from Israel.
23 Hula tanu oilate tongpa hama bae pah coeng dae khopuei khuikah tongpa pakhat loh a hmuh tiha yalh puei mai ni.
If a damsel that is a virgin shall be betrothed to an husband, and a man shall find her in the city, and lie with her;
24 Te vaengah amih rhoi te khopuei vongka la khuenuh. Tekah dumlai dongah hula tanu long khaw khopuei khuiah pang kangna boel saeh. Tongpa khaw a huikaha yuu te dumlai laa puei dongah lungto neh daeuh lamtah duek saeh. Te dongah boethae tah na khui lamloh khoeuh.
Then ye shall bring them both out to the gate of that city, and ye shall stone them with stones that they may die; the damsel, because she cried not, being in the city; and the man, because he hath humbled his neighbour’s wife: so thou shalt remove evil from among you.
25 Hlang loh a bae tangtae hula te tongpa pakhat loh kohong aha uum mai ni. Te vaengah tongpaloh anih tea paco tiha yalh puei atah anihaka yalh puei tongpa amah bueng mah dawk duek saeh.
But if a man shall find a betrothed damsel in the field, and the man shall force her, and lie with her: then the man only that lay with her shall die:
26 Tedae hula taengah tah dumlai saii boeh. A duek ham tueng tholhnah khaw hula taengahaom moenih. Tongpaloh a huia tlai thil tih a hinglua ngawn pah vanbangla tahae kah dumlai he khaw om van.
But to the damsel thou shalt do nothing; there is in the damsel no sin worthy of death: for as when a man riseth against his neighbour, and slayeth him, even so is this matter:
27 A bae tangtae hula tanute kohong aha uumtih tekah hulaloh a pang thil lalah anih tea rhun moenih.
For he found her in the field, and the betrothed damsel cried, and there was none to save her.
28 A bae hlan hula, tanu, oilate tongpaloh a uum tiha tuuk mai ni. Te vaengah aniha yalh pueia uumuh mai ni.
If a man shall find a damsel that is a virgin, who is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found;
29 Te vaengah hulakaha napa te hulaaka yalh puei tongpaloh tangka sawmnga neh sah saeh. Tedae anih te a puei coeng dongah anih yuu la om saeh. Amah tue khuiah tah anihte hlak hamla a coeng moenih.
Then the man that lay with her shall give to the damsel’s father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife; because he hath humbled her, he may not put her away all his days.
30 Tongpaloh a napakaha yuu te rhawt boel saeh lamtah a napakaha mul khaw nawn pah boel saeh.
A man shall not take his father’s wife, nor uncover his father’s skirt.
