1 Te phoeiah, BOEIPA loh kai taengah a thui vanbangla n'hooi uh tih carhaek li long kah khosoek la n'caeh uh phoeiah Seir tlang n'hil uh khaw khohnin loh sen coeng.
“And setting out from there, we arrived at the wilderness which leads to the Red Sea, just as the Lord had spoken to me. And we encompassed Mount Seir for a long time.
2 Te dongah BOEIPA loh kai m'voek tih,
And the Lord said to me:
3 'Hekah tlang khaw puet na hil uh coeng. Te dongah tlangpuei ben la mael uh laeh.
‘You have encompassed this mountain for long enough. Go forth, toward the north.
4 Na pilnam te khaw uen lamtah namamih loh thui pah. Seir ah aka om na manuca Esau koca rhoek kah khorhi aka paan nangmih te n'rhih uh ni. Te dongah boeih ngaithuen uh.
And instruct the people, saying: You shall cross through the borders of your brothers, the sons of Esau, who live at Seir, and they will fear you.
5 Amih kah khohmuen te nangmih taengah kam paek pawt oeh dongah amih te huek boeh. Na kho khopha kah a laeh pataeng khaw Seir tlang te tah Esau kah rho lamni ka paek coeng.
Therefore, take care diligently, lest you be moved against them. For I will not give to you from their land even as much as the step that one foot can tread upon, because I have given Mount Seir to Esau as a possession.
6 Buh khaw amih taengah tah tangka neh lai uh lamtah ca uh. Tui pataeng khaw amih taengah tah tangka neh lai uh lamtah o uh.
You shall buy food from them for money, and you shall eat. You shall draw water for money, and you shall drink.
7 Hekah khosoek khoham ah na van uh te BOEIPA na Pathen loh a ming tih na kut dongkah bitat boeih dongah BOEIPA na Pathen loh na yoe a then sak. Tahae due kum sawmli khuiah nangmih te hno loh m'vaitah moenih,’ a ti.
The Lord your God has blessed you in every work of your hands. The Lord your God, dwelling with you, knows your journey, how you crossed through this great wilderness over forty years, and how you have been lacking in nothing.’
8 Te dongah Seir ah kho aka sa mah manuca Esau koca rhoek te m'poeng uh tih kolken longpuei Elath neh Eziongeber lamkah n'hooi uh tih Moab khosoek longpuei la n'khum uh.
And when we had passed through our brothers, the sons of Esau, who were living at Seir by the way of the plain from Elath and from Eziongeber, we arrived at the way which leads to the desert of Moab.
9 Tedae BOEIPA loh kai taengah, 'Ar he tah Lot koca rhoek taengah rho la ka paek coeng dongah anih kah khohmuen rho te nangmih kam pae mahpawh. Te dongah Moab te dum boel lamtah amih te caem nen khaw huek boeh.
And the Lord said to me: ‘You should not fight against the Moabites, nor should you go to battle against them. For I will not give to you anything from their land, because I have given Ar to the sons of Lot as a possession.’
10 Hlamat lamkah anih khuiah aka om Emim pilnam khaw Anakim bangla tlung khaw tlung, ping khaw ping tih bahoeng sang.
The Emim were the first of its inhabitants, a people great and strong, and of such great height, like the race of the Anakim.
11 Rapha te khaw Anakim bangla a poek uh dongah amih te Moab loh Emim la a khue uh.
They were considered to be like giants, and they were like the sons of the Anakim. And, indeed, the Moabites call them: the Emim.
12 Seir ah khaw a hmai ah Khori rhoek kho a sak uh coeng. Tedae Esau ca rhoek loh amih te a huul uh. Amih te a mikhmuh lamloh mitmoeng uh. A rho khohmuen ah Israel saii bangla amih yueng la kho a sak uh. Te te BOEIPA loh amih taengah a paek.
The Horites also formerly lived at Seir. When these had been driven out and destroyed, the sons of Esau lived there, just as Israel did in the land of his possession, which the Lord gave to him.
13 Tahae ah thoo uh lamtah Zered soklong te kan uh,’ a ti dongah Zered soklong te n'kan uh.
Then, rising up so as to cross over the torrent Zered, we arrived at the place.
14 Kadeshbarnea lamkah n'cet uh tih Zered soklong m'poeng uh duela a tue loh sawmthum neh kum rhet di coeng. BOEIPA loh a caeng vanbangla rhaehhmuen lamkah thawnpuei caemtloek hlang rhoek khaw boeih khum uh coeng.
Then, from the time that we advanced from Kadesh-barnea until we crossed over the torrent Zered, there were thirty-eight years, until the entire generation of the men who were fit for war had been consumed out of the camp, just as the Lord had sworn.
15 Amih a mitmoeng uh duela rhaehhmuen khui lamkah amih aka khawkkhek la BOEIPA kut khaw amih taengah om.
For his hand was against them, so that they would pass away from the midst of the camp.
16 Pilnam khui lamkah caemtloek hlang boeih khaw duek tih aka boeih bangla om coeng.
Then, after all the fighting men had fallen,
17 Te dongah BOEIPA loh kai m'voek tih,
the Lord spoke to me, saying:
18 'Moab khorhi kah Ar te tihnin ah vawl poeng laeh.
‘Today, you shall cross the borders of Moab, at the city named Ar.
And when you have arrived in the vicinity of the sons of Ammon, be careful that you do not fight against them, nor should you be moved to battle. For I will not give to you from the land of the sons of Ammon, because I have given it to the sons of Lot as a possession.’
20 Te te a khui ah lamhma la Rapha rhoek a om uh van coeng dongah Rapha khohmuen la a poek. Tedae Ammoni rhoek longtah amih te Zamzomi la a khue uh.
It was reputed to be a land of giants. And giants lived there in times past, those whom the Ammonites call the Zamzummim.
21 Amih te Anakim bangla pilnam loh len khaw len, yet khaw yet tih sang khaw sang dae amamih mikhmuh ah BOEIPA loh amih te a mitmoeng sak tih a haek dongah amih yueng la Ammon rhoek loh kho a sakuh.
They are a people, great and numerous, and of lofty stature, like the Anakim, whom the Lord wiped away before their face. And he caused them to live there in place of them,
22 Seir kah aka om te Esau koca rhoek ham a saii pah tih Khori rhoek a mit sak bangla amih khaw a mikhmuh ah a haek uh dongah tihnin due amih yueng la Esau koca rhoek loh kho a sakuh.
just as he had done for the sons of Esau, who live at Seir, wiping out the Horites and delivering their land to them, which they possess even to the present time.
23 Gaza vongup khui duela aka om Avvii khaw Kaptor lamkah aka lo Kapthorim rhoek loh a mit sak tih amih yueng la tloep om bal.
Likewise the Hevites, who were living in small villages as far as Gaza, were expelled by the Cappadocians, who went forth from Cappadocia, and they wiped them out and lived in their place.
24 Thoo uh laeh. Cet uh lamtah Arnon soklong ke kat uh. Na kut dongah kam paek Amori kah Heshbon manghai Sihon te so lamtah a khohmuen te pahoi huul. Te phoeiah anih te caemtloek neh huek.
‘Rise up and cross the torrent Arnon! Behold, I have delivered Sihon, the king of Heshbon, the Amorite, into your hand, and so, begin to possess his land and to engage in battle against him.
Today I will begin to send the terror and dread of you among the peoples who are living under all of heaven, so that, when they hear your name, they may be afraid, and may tremble in the manner of a woman giving birth, and may be gripped by anguish.’
26 Te phoeiah Kedemoth khosoek lamkah puencawn rhoek te Heshbon manghai Sihon taengla rhoepnah olka neh ka tueih tih,
Therefore, I sent messengers from the wilderness of Kedemoth to Sihon, the king of Heshbon, with peaceful words, saying:
27 'Na khohmuen long ah ka lan mai eh. Longpuei pakhat te ka vai vetih banvoei bantang la ka phael mahpawh.
‘We will cross through your land. We will advance by the public way. We will not turn aside, neither to the right, nor to the left.
28 Buh khaw kai taengah tangka neh yoi lamtah ka ca eh. Tui khaw kai taengah tangka la han yoi lamtah ka o eh. Ka kho nen mah dawk ka lan mai eh.
Sell us food for a price, so that we may eat. Provide us with water for money, and so we will drink. We only ask that you allow us to pass through,
29 BOEIPA ka Pathen loh kaimih taengah m'paek khohmuen la Jordan lamkah ka lan uh vaengah Seir ah aka om Esau koca rhoek neh Ar ah aka om Moab rhoek loh kai ham a saii uh bangla sai van mai,’ ka ti nah.
just as the sons of Esau have done, who live at Seir, and the Moabites, who abide in Ar, until we arrive at the Jordan, and we cross to the land which the Lord our God will give to us.’
30 Te vaengah mamih lan sak ham te Heshbon manghai Sihon loh a kohuem pawh. Tedae tihnin kah bangla BOEIPA na Pathen loh nang kut dongah paek a ngaih dongah ni Sihon kah mueihla te a mangkhak sak tih a thinko khaw a ning sak.
And Sihon, the king of Heshbon, was not willing to grant passage to us. For the Lord your God had hardened his spirit, and had fastened his heart, so that he would be delivered into your hands, just as you now see.
31 Tedae BOEIPA loh kai taengah, 'So lah, Sihon neh anih khohmuen te na mikhmuh ah tloeng hamla ka tawn coeng. A khohmuen te pang pah ham tawn pah lamtah huul pah,’ a ti.
And the Lord said to me: ‘Behold, I have begun to deliver Sihon and his land to you. Begin to possess it.’
32 Te vaengah Sihon neh amah pilnam pum loh caemtloek neh mamih doe ham Jahaz ah ha pawk.
And Sihon went out to meet us with all his people, to battle at Jahaz.
33 Tedae anih te mamih kah BOEIPA Pathen loh mamih mikhmuh la han thak dongah amah neh anih koca rhoek kah a ca khaw, a pilnam pum khaw n'tloek uh.
And the Lord our God delivered him to us. And we struck him down, with his sons and all his people.
34 Te vaengah a khopuei boeih te m'buem pa uh tih khopuei takuem te n'thup uh. Huta tongpa neh camoe rhaengnaeng khaw m'paih uh pawh.
And we seized all his cities at that time, putting to death their inhabitants: men as well as women and children. We left nothing of them,
35 Tedae rhamsa te mamih ham m'poelyoe uh tih khopuei rhoek te kutbuem la m'buem uh.
except the cattle, which went to the share of those who plundered them. And we seized the spoils of the cities,
36 Arnon soklong tuikung kah Aroer lamkah soklong khopuei Gilead pataeng khaw mamih ham aka phoeng khorha la om pawh. Tedae mamih kah BOEIPA Pathen loh mamih mikhmuh ah boeih a tloeng.
from Aroer, which is above the bank of the torrent Arnon, a town which is situated in a valley, all the way to Gilead. There was not a village or city which escaped from our hands. The Lord our God delivered everything to us,
37 Tedae Ammon koca rhoek kah khohmuen tah mamih BOEIPA Pathen kah a uen vanbangla Jabbok soklong paem boeih neh tlang kah khopuei boeih khaw ben uh boeh.
except the land of the sons of Ammon, which we did not approach, and all that is adjacent to the torrent Jabbok, and the cities in the mountains, and all the places which the Lord our God prohibited to us.”
