< Caeltueih 5 >
1 Tedae hlang pakhat a ming ah Aninias neh a yuu Sapphira loh hnopai a yoih.
BUT a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession,
2 Tedae a phu te a uep. A yuu khaw a yaak sak phoeiah a ngen te a khuen tih caeltueih rhoek kah kho kungah cukdek a tloeng.
And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles’ feet.
3 Te dongah Peter loh, “Ananias, balae tih Satan loh na thinko a hah sak, Mueihla Cim te na laithae thil. Te dongah ni khohmuen phu te na uep coeng.
But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?
4 Aka om tangtae tah namah taengah om tih na yoih vaengah namah ah saithainah a om moenih a? Balae tih na thinko khuiah te bang hno te na khueh. Hlang taeng bueng mueh la Pathen taengah khaw na laithae coeng,” a ti nah.
Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.
5 Te ol te Ananias loh a yaak vaengah cungku tih duek. Te dongah aka ya rhoek boeih te rhihnah loh muep a kun thil.
And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things.
6 Te dongah cadong rhoek loh thoo uh tih anih te a cun uh phoeiah a khuen uh tih a up uh.
And the young men arose, wound him up, and carried him out, and buried him.
7 Khonoek pathum tluk di tih a om phoeiah olka aka om te a yuu loh a ming mueh la kun van.
And it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what was done, came in.
8 Te vaengah anih te Peter loh, “Kai taengah thui laeh, khohmuen na thuung te heyet bueng nim,” a ti nah hatah, “Ue heyet ni,” a ti nah.
And Peter answered unto her, Tell me whether ye sold the land for so much? And she said, Yea, for so much.
9 Tedae anih te Peter loh, “Balae tih Boeipa Mueihla noemcai ham na rhoih uh rhoi. Thohka kah na va aka up rhoek kah a kho loh nang khaw n'thak bal ni he,” a ti nah.
Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried thy husband are at the door, and shall carry thee out.
10 Te vaengah pahoi cungku tih a kho kungah duek bal. Te dongah cadong rhoek aka kun rhoek loh anih te a duek la a hmuh uh vaengah a khuen uh tih a va taengah a up uh.
Then fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her husband.
11 Te dongah hlangboel boeih neh te te aka ya rhoek boeih te rhihnah loh muep a kun thil.
And great fear came upon all the church, and upon as many as heard these things.
12 Caeltueih rhoek kah a kut loh pilnam taengah miknoek neh khobae rhambae muep a saii dongah Solomon impup ah thikat la boeih om uh.
And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people; (and they were all with one accord in Solomon’s porch.
13 Amih te a tloe loh ben ham ngaingaih pawt cakhaw amih te pilnam loh a oep.
And of the rest durst no man join himself to them: but the people magnified them.
14 Boeipa aka tangnah huta tongpa rhaengpuei loh taoe thap uh thae.
And believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women.)
15 Te dongah Peter ha pawk atah a mueihlip rhung long khaw bet dah saeh tila tattloel te thingkong neh phakdoeng soah a ngol sak uh tih toltung la a khuen uh.
Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them.
16 Jerusalem khopuei kaepvai kah rhaengpuei long khaw ha tingtun uh. Tattloel khaw, rhalawt mueihla loh a ven rhoek te khaw a khuen uh tih boeih hoeih uh.
There came also a multitude out of the cities round about unto Jerusalem, bringing sick folks, and them which were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed every one.
17 Khosoihham a thoh nen tah a taengkah rhoek boeih, Sadducee kah buhlaelh la aka om rhoek loh kohlopnah neh khuk hah uh.
Then the high priest rose up, and all they that were with him, (which is the sect of the Sadducees, ) and were filled with indignation,
18 Te phoeiah caeltueih rhoek te kut a hlah thil uh tih thongim ah langya la a hlak uh.
And laid their hands on the apostles, and put them in the common prison.
19 Tedae khoyin ah Boeipa kah puencawn loh thongim thohka te a ong tih a mawt.
But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them forth, and said,
20 Te phoeiah amih rhoi te, “Cet rhoi, bawkim kah pilnam taengah pai rhoi lamtah hingnah ol he boeih thui rhoi,” a ti nah.
Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.
21 Mincang ah bawkim la kun rhoi tih a thuituen rhoi te a yaak uh. Te dongah khosoihham aka pawk rhoek neh a taengkah rhoek loh khoboei neh Israel ca khuikah paham rhoek te boeih a hueh uh tih amih rhoi aka lo ham thongim la a tueih uh.
And when they heard that, they entered into the temple early in the morning, and taught. But the high priest came, and they that were with him, and called the council together, and all the senate of the children of Israel, and sent to the prison to have them brought.
22 Tedae tueihyoeih rhoek loh a pha uh vaengah amih rhoi te thongim khuiah a hmu uh pawt dongah bal uh tih puen uh.
But when the officers came, and found them not in the prison, they returned, and told,
23 Te vaengah, “Thongim te cakrhuet la boeih a khaih tih thohka ah aka tawtkung rhoek a pai uh khaw ka hmuh uh dae a ong vaengah a khuiah u khaw ka hmuh uh pawh,” a ti uh.
Saying, The prison truly found we shut with all safety, and the keepers standing without before the doors: but when we had opened, we found no man within.
24 Bawkim kah imtawt boei neh khosoihham loh he ol a yaak vaengah amih ham te metlam a om co tila khobing uh.
Now when the high priest and the captain of the temple and the chief priests heard these things, they doubted of them whereunto this would grow.
25 Te vaengah pakhat ha pawk tih, “Thongim ah na khueh uh hlang rhoi loh bawkim ah pai rhoi tih pilnam a thuituen rhoi he, “tila amih taengah a puen pah.
Then came one and told them, saying, Behold, the men whom ye put in prison are standing in the temple, and teaching the people.
26 Te dongah imtawt boei neh a tueihyoeih rhoek te cet uh tih amih rhoi te a mawt uh. Tedae pilnam kah a dae te a rhih uh dongah vikvueknah neh saii uh pawh.
Then went the captain with the officers, and brought them without violence: for they feared the people, lest they should have been stoned.
27 A khuen uh neh amih rhoi te khoboei hmaiah a pai rhoi vaengah khosoihham loh a dawt tih,
And when they had brought them, they set them before the council: and the high priest asked them,
28 “Te ming neh thuituen pawt ham nangmih rhoi taengah oluen khaw kang uen uh moenih a? Tedae nangmih kah thuituennah neh Jerusalem ah bae coeng he. Hlang thii he kaimih soah tla saeh na ti rhoi a?” a ti nah.
Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man’s blood upon us.
29 Peter neh caeltueih rhoek loh a doo uh, “Hlang ol lakah Pathen ol ngai lat ham a kuek.
Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.
30 A pa rhoek kah Pathen loh Jesuh a thoh coeng. Anih na ngawn uh tih thing dongah na hoei uh.
The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree.
31 Israel te yutnah neh tholh khodawkngainah paek ham Pathen loh a bantang ah rhuihnun neh khangkung la a pomsang coeng.
Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.
32 Te dongah kaimih loh te olthang kah laipai la ka om uh tih, anih ol aka ngai rhoek te Pathen loh Mueihla Cim a paek coeng,” a ti rhoi.
And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.
33 Tedae aka ya rhoek loh phuk a paeng uh dongah amih te thup hamla cai uh.
When they heard that, they were cut to the heart, and took counsel to slay them.
34 Te vaengah Pharisee pakhat, a ming ah Gamaliel, pilnam boeih loh saya la a hinyah te, khoboei lakli ah thoo tih hlang rhoek te poeng la rhaih khueh ham ol a paek.
Then stood there up one in the council, a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a doctor of the law, had in reputation among all the people, and commanded to put the apostles forth a little space;
35 Te phoeiah amih te, “Israel hlang rhoek, he hlang rhoek taengah metla saii ham na cai uh khaw namamih ngaithuen uh.
And said unto them, Ye men of Israel, take heed to yourselves what ye intend to do as touching these men.
36 Amih hlankah Theudas a cungpoeh hnin ah khaw amah te khat khat la om ham a thui dongah hlang he hlangmi yali tluk loh anih taengla bop uh. Tedae anih a thup uh vaengah anih aka ngaitang boeih loh boeih milh uh tih a honghi la poeh.
For before these days rose up Theudas, boasting himself to be somebody; to whom a number of men, about four hundred, joined themselves: who was slain; and all, as many as obeyed him, were scattered, and brought to nought.
37 Hlangmi soepnah tue vaengah khaw Galilee kah Judah te phoe bal tih a hnukah pilnam te a yoek bal. Tedae anih khaw poci tih anih aka ngaitang boeih tah muep paltham uh.
After this man rose up Judas of Galilee in the days of the taxing, and drew away much people after him: he also perished; and all, even as many as obeyed him, were dispersed.
38 Te dongah nangmih ham ka thui coeng he. Hekah hlang rhoek he nong tak uh lamtah hlah uh mai. He he hlang kah mangtaengnah neh a khoboe la a om atah a phae pah bitni.
And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought:
39 Tedae Pathen lamkah la a om atah amih te na palet thai mahpawh, nangmih te boekoek la m'hmuh uh boel saeh,” a ti nah vaengah anih ol te a rhooi uh.
But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.
40 Te dongah caeltueih rhoek te a khue uh tih a tam uh. Jesuh ming neh thui pawt ham khaw a uen uh tih a hlah uh.
And to him they agreed: and when they had called the apostles, and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.
41 Te vaengah, “A ming ham yahbai nen khaw n'tiing uh pai,” a ti uh dongah khoboei hmai lamloh omngaih la mael uh.
And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.
42 Tedae bawkim khui neh im lamkah hnin takuem ah toeng mueh la a thuituen uh tih Khrih Jesuh te a phong uh.
And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.
