And there was a certain man in Caesarea, by name Cornelius, a centurion from a band called Italian,
2 Anih te cuep tih a imko boeih loh Pathen a rhih. Pilnam taengah doedannah muep a saii tih Pathen taengah a yoeyah la thangthui.
pious, and fearing God with all his house, doing also many kind acts to the people, and beseeching God always,
3 Hnin at tah khonoek pako tluk vaengah a mangthui ah a hmuh. Te vaengah Pathen kah puencawn te anih taengla kun tih, “Kornelius,” a ti nah.
he saw in a vision manifestly, as it were the ninth hour of the day, a messenger of God coming in unto him, and saying to him, 'Cornelius;'
4 Anih te a hmaitang vaengah lakueng ngaiha la om tih, “Balae aka om Boeipa,” a ti nah. Te dongah anih te, “Na thangthuinah neh na doedannah loh Pathen hmaiah kutmuei la cet coeng.
and he having looked earnestly on him, and becoming afraid, said, 'What is it, Lord?' And he said to him, 'Thy prayers and thy kind acts came up for a memorial before God,
5 Te dongah Joppa la hlang pahoi tueih lamtah Simon Peter la a khue hlang pakhat te tah laeh.
and now send men to Joppa, and send for a certain one Simon, who is surnamed Peter,
6 Anih te tuipuei kaengkah im aka om maehpho Simon taengah pah lah ko,” a ti nah.
this one doth lodge with a certain Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea; this one shall speak to thee what it behoveth thee to do.'
7 Anih aka voek puencawn te a caeh van phoeiah tah imkhut rhoi neh amah aka khuituk rhoek khuikah aka cuep rhalkap te a khue.
And when the messenger who is speaking to Cornelius went away, having called two of his domestics, and a pious soldier of those waiting on him continually,
8 Amih te a soep la a uen phoeiah Joppa la a tueih.
and having declared to them all things, he sent them to Joppa.
9 A vuen ah amih te cet uh tih kho a yoei thuem kah khonoek parhuk tluk vaengah Peter tah thangthui ham imphu la yoeng.
And on the morrow, as these are proceeding on the way, and are drawing nigh to the city, Peter went up upon the house-top to pray, about the sixth hour,

and he became very hungry, and wished to eat; and they making ready, there fell upon him a trance,

and he doth behold the heaven opened, and descending unto him a certain vessel, as a great sheet, bound at the four corners, and let down upon the earth,
12 A khuiah diklai kah rhamsa boeih neh rhulcai khaw, vaan kah vaa khaw om.
in which were all the four-footed beasts of the earth, and the wild beasts, and the creeping things, and the fowls of the heaven,
13 Te vaengah, “Peter thoo, ngawn lamtah ca,” tila anih taengla ol halo pah.
and there came a voice unto him: 'Having risen, Peter, slay and eat.'
14 Tedae Peter loh, “Moenih, Boeipa, tanghnong tangaih neh rhalawt la aka om boeih he ka caak moenih,” a ti nah.
And Peter said, 'Not so, Lord; because at no time did I eat anything common or unclean;'
15 Tedae anih te a pabae kah ol bal loh, “Pathen loh a cim sak tangtae te nang loh poeih boeh,” a ti nah.
and [there is] a voice again a second time unto him: 'What God did cleanse, thou, declare not thou common;'
16 Te tlam te voei thum a om phoeiah tah hno te vaan la vil a loh.
and this was done thrice, and again was the vessel received up to the heaven.
17 Te dongah mangthui a hmuh te metlam a om poek eh tila Peter loh a khuiah khobing. Te vaengah Kornelius loh a tueih tih Simon im aka toem hlang rhoek khaw vongka ah pakcak ha pai uh.
And as Peter was perplexed in himself what the vision that he saw might be, then, lo, the men who have been sent from Cornelius, having made inquiry for the house of Simon, stood at the gate,
18 Te vaengah pang uh tih, “Peter la a khue Simon te pah mai a he,” a ti uh.
and having called, they were asking if Simon, who is surnamed Peter, doth lodge here?
19 Peter khaw mangthui dongkah te a poek li vaengah Mueihla loh, “Hlang pathum loh nang n'toem uh ke.
And Peter thinking about the vision, the Spirit said to him, 'Lo, three men do seek thee;
20 Thoo, suntla lamtah boelhkhoeh kolla amih taengah cet laeh. Kai long ni amih kan tueih,” a ti nah.
but having risen, go down and go on with them, nothing doubting, because I have sent them;'
21 A suntlak phoeiah hlang rhoek te Peter loh, “Na toem uh te kai ni he. Mebang paelnaehnah nen nim na pai uh te,” a ti nah.
and Peter having come down unto the men who have been sent from Cornelius unto him, said, 'Lo, I am he whom ye seek, what [is] the cause for which ye are present?'
22 Te dongah amih loh, “Rhalboei Kornelius he hlang dueng la om tih Pathen a rhih dongah Judah namtu boeih long khaw a oep. Nang te amah im la tah tih nang lamkah olka hnatun sak ham hlangcim kah puencawn loh a mangthui coeng,” a ti uh.
And they said, 'Cornelius, a centurion, a man righteous and fearing God, well testified to, also, by all the nation of the Jews, was divinely warned by a holy messenger to send for thee, to his house, and to hear sayings from thee.'
23 Te dongah amih te a khue tih a pah sak. A vuen ah tah thoo tih amih taengla cet. Te vaengah Joppa lamkah manuca hlangvang rhoek loh anih te a puei uh.
Having called them in, therefore, he lodged them, and on the morrow Peter went forth with them, and certain of the brethren from Joppa went with him,
24 A vuen patoeng bal vaengah Kaiserea la kun. Amih te Kornelius loh a lamso tih ana om coeng dongah a huiko neh paya tangkik te a hueh thil.
and on the morrow they did enter into Caesarea; and Cornelius was waiting for them, having called together his kindred and near friends,
25 Peter ham pha tih a kun vaengah amah te Kornelius loh a doe. A kho kungah a bakop thil tih a bawk.
and as it came that Peter entered in, Cornelius having met him, having fallen at [his] feet, did bow before [him];
26 Tedae Peter loh anih te a thoh tih, “Thoo, kai kamah khaw hlang van ni,” a ti nah.
and Peter raised him, saying, 'Stand up; I also myself am a man;'
27 Anih te a voek tih a kun vaengah muep a tingtun uh a hmuh.
and talking with him he went in, and doth find many having come together.
28 Amih taengah khaw, “Judah hlang taengah kap tih kholong a paan vaengah a lolh la muep a om te na hmat uh. Tedae hlang te tanghnong neh rhalawt ti nah pawt ham Pathen loh kai n'tueng coeng.
And he said unto them, 'Ye know how it is unlawful for a man, a Jew, to keep company with, or to come unto, one of another race, but to me God did shew to call no man common or unclean;
29 Te dongah kai aka tah taengla hawt ka lo van. Tedae kan dawt mai eh mebang kawng nen lae kai nan tah uh,” a ti nah.
therefore also without gainsaying I came, having been sent for; I ask, therefore, for what matter ye did send for me?'
30 Te vaengah Kornelius loh, “Tahae duela hnin li khuiah khonoek pako kah thangthui neh ka im ah ka om. Te vaengah hlang pakhat loh a himbai cim thik la kai hmaiah pakcak pai tih,
And Cornelius said, 'Four days ago till this hour, I was fasting, and [at] the ninth hour praying in my house, and, lo, a man stood before me in bright clothing,
31 Kornelius, na thangthuinah te ka hnatun uh tih na doedannah loh Pathen hmaiah a poek coeng.
and he said, Cornelius, thy prayer was heard, and thy kind acts were remembered before God;
32 Te dongah Joppa la hlang tueih lamtah, Peter la a khue Simon te khue laeh. Anih te tuipuei kah maehpho Simon im ah pah,’ a ti.
send, therefore, to Joppa, and call for Simon, who is surnamed Peter; this one doth lodge in the house of Simon a tanner, by the sea, who having come, shall speak to thee;
33 Te dongah amih te nang taengla tlek kan tueih. Nang long khaw a then la na saii tih, na pawk coeng. Boeipa loh nang ng'uen boeih te yaak hamla kaimih boeih loh Pathen hmaiah ka phoe uh van coeng,” a ti nah.
at once, therefore, I sent to thee; thou also didst do well, having come; now, therefore, are we all before God present to hear all things that have been commanded thee by God.'
34 Te dongah Peter loh a ka a ong tih, “Pathen loh tangyahnah a khueh pawt te oltak la ka pom coeng.
And Peter having opened his mouth, said, 'Of a truth, I perceive that God is no respecter of persons,
35 Tedae namtom boeih khuiah amah aka rhih tih duengnah aka saii rhoek tah amah kah a uem la om.
but in every nation he who is fearing Him, and is working righteousness, is acceptable to Him;
36 Ol te Israel ca rhoek taengah a tah tih Jesuh Khrih rhangneh rhoepnah a phong. Anih tah a cungkuem kah Boeipa la a om te na ming uh.
the word that he sent to the sons of Israel, proclaiming good news — peace through Jesus Christ (this one is Lord of all, )
37 Judea tom ah olthang he om coeng. Johan loh a hoe Baptistma hnukah Galilee lamloh a tong coeng.
ye — ye have known; — the word that came throughout all Judea, having begun from Galilee, after the baptism that John preached;
38 Nazareth lamkah Jesuh te Pathen loh Mueihla Cim neh thaomnah neh a koelh. Anih tah tlangnaem tlangphai la pongpa tih Pathen loh anih taengah a om puei dongah rhaithae kah a phaep rhoek khaw boeih a hoeih sak.
Jesus who [is] from Nazareth — how God did anoint him with the Holy Spirit and power; who went through, doing good, and healing all those oppressed by the devil, because God was with him;
39 Te dongah kaimih tah a cungkuem kah laipai rhoek ni. Te te Judah kho neh Jerusalem ah khaw a saii. Tedae amah te a ngawn uh tih thing dongah a hoei uh.
and we — we are witnesses of all things that he did, both in the country of the Jews, and in Jerusalem, — whom they did slay, having hanged upon a tree.
40 Anih te Pathen loh a thum hnin ah a thoh tih a phoe sak la om coeng.
'This one God did raise up the third day, and gave him to become manifest,
41 Pilnam boeih taengah pawt tih Pathen kah a hmoel laipai rhoek taengah phoe coeng. Duek lamkah a thoh phoeiah anih loh mamih m'vael puei tih mamih loh anih n'ok puei uh.
not to all the people, but to witnesses, to those having been chosen before by God — to us who did eat with [him], and did drink with him, after his rising out of the dead;
42 Hlang duek hlang hing kah laitloekkung la Pathen loh anih a hmoel te pilnam taengah hoe tih uen ham mamih ng'uen.
and he commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify fully that it is he who hath been ordained by God judge of living and dead —
43 Tonghma rhoek boeih loh anih te a oep. Amah aka tangnah boeih tah a ming neh tholh khodawkngainah a dang,” a ti nah.
to this one do all the prophets testify, that through his name every one that is believing in him doth receive remission of sins.'
44 Peter kah a thui ol te a pangthuem vaengah ol aka hnatun rhoek boeih khaw Mueihla Cim loh a tlak thil.
While Peter is yet speaking these sayings, the Holy spirit fell upon all those hearing the word,
45 Namtom rhoek te Cim Mueihla kah kutdoe loh a suntlak thil van vaengah, yahvinrhetnah neh uepom Peter aka puei boeih khaw limlum uh.
and those of the circumcision believing were astonished — as many as came with Peter — because also upon the nations the gift of the Holy Spirit hath been poured out,
46 Amih kah ol a thui uh te a yaak uh vaengah Pathen te a oep uh.
for they were hearing them speaking with tongues and magnifying God.
47 Te dongah Peter loh, “Kaimih van bangla Mueihla Cim aka dang amih he nuem pawt ham u long khaw tui hloh thai mahpawh,” a ti.
Then answered Peter, 'The water is any one able to forbid, that these may not be baptized, who the Holy Spirit did receive — even as also we?'
48 Te dongah amih te Jesuh Khrih ming ah nuem ham a uen. Te phoeiah khohnin a yol khaw om ham anih te a hloep uh.
he commanded them also to be baptized in the name of the Lord; then they besought him to remain certain days.
