2 Samuel 8

And it cometh to pass afterwards that David smiteth the Philistines, and humbleth them, and David taketh the bridle of the metropolis out of the hand of the Philistines.

2 Moab te a tloek tih rhui a toe thil phoeiah amih te diklai la a yalh sak. Te vaengah ngawn hamla than hnih te a khueh tih than at a hing la boeih a khueh. Te dongah Moab tah David taengah sal la om tih khocang te a thak. Te dongah Moab loh David kah sal a bi tih mangmu a paek.

And he smiteth Moab, and measureth them with a line, causing them to lie down on the earth, and he measureth two lines to put to death, and the fulness of the line to keep alive, and the Moabites are to David for servants, bearers of a present.

3 Anih kut lamkah loh Perath tuiva phaiTe lat hamla Zobah manghai Rehob capa Hadadezer te a caeh vaengah David loh a tloek.

And David smiteth Hadadezer son of Rehob, king of Zobah, in his going to bring back his power by the River [Euphrates; ]

4 Te vaengah David loh marhang caem thawngkhat ya rhih, rhalkap hlang thawng kul a tuuk pah. Te vaengah David loh leng yakhat Te amah ham a paih tih a tloe leng boeih te tah boeih a haih.

and David captureth from him a thousand and seven hundred horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen, and David destroyeth utterly the whole of the charioteers, only he leaveth of them a hundred charioteers.

5 Zobah manghai Hadadezer bom hamla Damasku long khaw a paan dae Aram hlang thawng kul thawng hnih Te David loh a ngawn.

And Aram of Damascus cometh to give help to Hadadezer king of Zobah, and David smiteth of Aram twenty and two thousand men;

6 David loh Damasku ah khohung a khueh. Te dongah Aram tah David taengah khocang aka thak sal la om. David te a caeh nah boeih ah BOEIPA loh a khang.

and David putteth garrisons in Aram of Damascus, and Aram is to David for a servant, bearing a present; and Jehovah saveth David whithersoever he hath gone;

7 Te phoeiah Hadadezer sal rhoek taengah aka om sui photling te David loh a loh tih Jerusalem la a khuen.

and David taketh the shields of gold which were on the servants of Hadadezer, and bringeth them to Jerusalem;

8 Hadadezer khopuei Betah lamkah neh Berothai lamkah rhohum Te yet Te manghai David loh kang a khuen.

and from Betah, and from Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, hath king David taken very much brass.

9 Hadadezer kah tatthai boeih te David loh a ngawn coeng tila Khamath manghai Toi loh a yaak.

And Toi king of Hamath heareth that David hath smitten all the force of Hadadezer,

10 Te dongah Toi loh a capa Joram te manghai David taengla a tueih tih sading kawng te a dawt sak. Toi amah khaw Hadadezer kut dongah ana om coeng dongah Hadadezer a vathoh thil tih anih kah caemtloek hlang a ngawn pah te a uem coeng. Te vaengah hnopai la cak, sui neh rhohum te a khuen pah.

and Toi sendeth Joram his son unto king David to ask of him of welfare, and to bless him, (because that he hath fought against Hadadezer, and smiteth him, for a man of wars [with] Toi had Hadadezer been), and in his hand have been vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and vessels of brass,

11 Manghai David loh namtom boeih taeng lamkah a hoep tih a khoem cak neh sui te khaw,

also them did king David sanctify to Jehovah, with the silver and the gold which he sanctified of all the nations which he subdued:

12 Aram lamkah, Moab lamkah, Ammon koca taeng lamkah, Philisti lamkah, Amalek lamkah, Zobah manghai Rehob capa Hadadezer kutbuem khui lamkah te khaw BOEIPA taengah a ciim.

of Aram, and of Moab, and of the Bene-Ammon, and of the Philistines, and of Amalek, and of the spoil of Hadadezer son of Rehob king of Zobah.

13 Kolrhawk ah Aram hlang thawng hlai rhet a ngawn tih a mael vaengah David ming Te om coeng.

And David maketh a name in his turning back from his smiting Aram in the valley of Salt — eighteen thousand;

14 Te phoeiah khohung rhoekTe Edom ah a khueh. Edom tom ah khohung rhoek a khueh coeng dongah Edom Te David taengah sal la boeih om. David te a caeh nah boeih ah BOEIPA loh a khang.

and he putteth in Edom garrisons — in all Edom he hath put garrisons, and all Edom are servants to David; and Jehovah saveth David whithersoever he hath gone.

15 David loh Israel pum te a manghai thil coeng. David a om vaengah a pilnam boeih taengah duengnah neh a tiktam la a saii.

And David reigneth over all Israel, and David is doing judgment and righteousness to all his people,

16 Zeruiah capa Joab Te caempuei soah, Ahilud capa Jehoshaphat Te khocil aka khoem la,

and Joab son of Zeruiah [is] over the host, and Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud [is] remembrancer,

17 Ahitub capa Zadok neh Abiathar capa Ahimelek Te khosoih la, Seraiah Te cadaek la,

and Zadok son of Ahitub, and Ahimelech son of Abiathar, [are] priests, and Seraiah [is] scribe,

18 Jehoiada capa Benaiah, Kerethi, Phelethi neh David capa rhoek tah khosoih la om uh.

and Benaiah son of Jehoiada [is over] both the Cherethite and the Pelethite, and the sons of David have been ministers.
