And Joram the son of Achaab began to reign in Israel in the eighteenth year of Josaphat king of Juda, and he reigned twelve years.
2 Tedae a manu a napa bang lamtah BOEIPA mikhmuh ah boethae a saii moenih. A napa loh a saii Baal kah kaam te khaw a khoe pah.
And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, only not as his father, nor as his mother: and he removed the pillars of Baal which his father had made.
3 Israel aka tholh sak Nebat capa Jeroboam kah tholhnah dongah balak tih te lamloh nong pawh.
Only he adhered to the sin of Jeroboam the son of Nabat, who made Israel to sin; he departed not from it.
4 Te vaengah Moab manghai Mesha tah saelhung boei la om tih Israel manghai te tuca thawng yakhat, tutal thawng yakhat mul neh a thuung.
And Mosa king of Moab was a sheep-master, and he rendered to the king of Israel in the beginning [of the year], a hundred thousand lambs, and a hundred thousand rams, with the wool.
5 Tedae Ahab a duek van neh Moab manghai loh Israel manghai taengah boe a koek.
And it came to pass, after the death of Achaab, that the king of Moab rebelled against the king of Israel.
6 Manghai Jehoram tah amah khohnin ah Samaria lamloh cet tih Israel pum te a soep.
And king Joram went forth in that day out of Samaria, and numbered Israel.
7 Cet tih Judah manghai Jehoshaphat taengla ol a pat vaengah, “Moab manghai loh kai taengah boe a koek coeng dongah Moab te caemtloek thil ham kai taengla na lo aya?” a ti nah. Te vaengah, “Ka lo ni, kai khaw nang banghui, ka pilnam khaw na pilnam banghui, ka marhang khaw na marhang banghui ni,” a ti nah.
And he went and sent to Josaphat king of Juda, saying, The king of Moab has rebelled against me: will you go with me against Moab to war? And he said, I will go up: you are as I, I am as you; as my people, so [is] your people, as my horses, so [are] your horses.
8 Te phoeiah, “Longpuei he me long nim n'caeh eh?” a ti nah vaengah, “Edom khosoek longpuei ah,” a ti nah.
And he said, What way shall I go up? and he said, The way of the wilderness of Edom.
9 Te dongah Israel manghai neh Judah manghai khaw, Edom manghai khaw cet uh tih hnin rhih longcaeh hil a hil uh vaengah tah lambong ham neh a kho kung kah rhamsa ham khaw tui om pawh.
And the king of Israel went, and the king of Juda, and the king of Edom: and they fetched a compass of seven days' journey; and there was no water for the army, and for the cattle that went with them.
10 Israel manghai loh, “Ya-oe Manghai pathum he Moab kut ah tloeng ham nim BOEIPA loh n'khue dae,” a ti.
And the king of Israel said, Alas! that the Lord should have called the three kings on their way, to give them into the hand of Moab.
11 Tedae Jehoshaphat loh, “Heah he BOEIPA kah tonghma a om moenih a? Anih lamloh BOEIPA te n'dawt lah mako,” a ti nah. Israel manghai kah sal pakhat loh a doo tih, “Shaphat capa Elisha, Elijah kut dongah tui a bueih te heah om,” a ti nah.
And Josaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the Lord, that we may enquire of the Lord by him? And one of the servants of the king of Israel answered and said, [There is] here Elisaie son of Saphat, who poured water on the hands of Eliu.
12 Te vaengah Jehoshaphat loh, “Anih taengah BOEIPA ol om,” a ti. Te dongah a taengla Israel manghai neh Jehoshaphat khaw, Edom manghai khaw suntla uh.
And Josaphat said, He has the word of the Lord. And the king of Israel, and Josaphat king of Juda, and the king of Edom, went down to him.
13 Elisha loh Israel manghai taengah, “Kai taeng neh nang taengah balae aka om? Na pa kah tonghma rhoek neh na nu kah tonghma rhoek taengah cet,” a ti nah. Tedae anih te Israel manghai loh, “Pawh, Moab kut ah tloeng hamla he manghai pathum he BOEIPA loh a khue,” a ti nah.
And Elisaie said to the king of Israel, What have I to do with you? go to the prophets of your father, and the prophets of your mother. And the king of Israel said to him, Has the Lord called the three kings to deliver them into the hands of Moab?
14 Elisha loh, “Caempuei BOEIPA kah hingnah bangla amah mikhmuh ah ni ka pai. Judah manghai Jehoshaphat kah maelhmai pawt koinih kai loh nang kan hinyah venim. Nang te kan paelki pawt vetih nang te kan hmu pawt mako.
And Elisaie said, [As] the Lord of hosts before whom I stand lives, unless I regarded the presence of Josaphat the king of Juda, I would not have looked on you, nor seen you.
15 Tedae rhotoeng aka tum mah kai taengla hang khuen uh laeh,” a ti nah. Rhotoeng aka tum loh a tum van neh BOEIPA kut te anih sola cet coeng.
And now fetch me a harper. And it came to pass, as the harper harped, that the hand of the Lord came upon him.
16 Te dongah, “BOEIPA loh he ni a thui. Soklong he tuito, tuito kak la om saeh.
And he said, Thus says the Lord, Make this valley full of trenches.
17 He he BOEIPA loh a thui coeng dongah, khohli na hmu uh pawt tih khonal na hmuh uh pawt cakhaw, soklong he tui bae vetih namamih neh na boiva neh na rhamsa neh na ok uh bitni.
For thus says the Lord, You shall not see wind, neither shall you see rain, yet this valley shall be filled with water, and you, and your flocks, and your cattle shall drink.
18 He he BOEIPA mik ah yoeikoek mai, Moab te na kut dongah m'paek ni.
And this [is] a light [thing] in the eyes of the Lord: I will also deliver Moab into your hand.
19 Khopuei hmuencak boeih neh khopuei tung boeih te na tloek uh vetih thing then boeih te na hum uh ni. Tuisih tui boeih te na mak uh vetih lo then boeih te lungto neh thak na khoeih sak uh bitni,” a ti.
And you shall strike every strong city, and you shall cut down every good tree, and you shall stop all wells of water, and spoil every good piece [of land] with stones.
20 Mincang a pha tih khocang a nawn ham vaengah tah Edom longpuei lamloh tui tarha long tih khohmuen ah tui bae.
And it came to pass in the morning, when the sacrifice was offered, that, behold! waters came from the way of Edom, and the land was filled with water.
21 Amih taengah vathoh ham manghai rhoek a caeh te Moab pum loh a yaak vaengah cihin aka yen thai neh a so hang boeih te a khue tih khorhi ah pai uh.
And all Moab heard that the three kings were come up to fight against them; and they cried out on every [side, even] all that were girded with a girdle, and they said, Ho! and stood upon the border.
22 Mincang a thoh uh vaengah tah khomik loh tui soah a thoeng pah tih Moab loh tui te thii bangla a ling la a hmuh phai.
And they rose early in the morning, and the sun rose upon the waters, and Moab saw the waters on the opposite side red as blood.
23 Te dongah, “Manghai rhoek a khah la khah uh thae kah thii ni he, hlang loh a hui khaw a ngawn coeng tih Moab kah kutbuem la om coeng,” a ti uh.
And they said, This [is] the blood of the sword; and the kings have fought, and each man has struck his neighbor; now then to the spoils, Moab.
24 Israel caem te a paan uh dongah Israel te thoo tih Moab te a ngawn. Te dongah amih mikhmuh lamloh rhaelrham uh coeng dae a pawk nah kungah khaw Moab te a ngawn la a ngawn uh.
And they entered into the camp of Israel; and Israel arose and struck Moab, and they fled from before them; and they went on and struck Moab as they went.
25 Khopuei rhoek te a koengloeng uh tih lo then boeih khaw hlang loh lungto a voeih tih a kuk thil uh. Tuisih tui boeih te a mak uh. Kirhareseth ah lungto bueng a sueng hil thing then te boeih a hum uh. Tedae payai aka pom rhoek loh a vael uh tih a ngawn uh.
And they razed the cities, and cast every man his stone on every good piece [of land] and filled it; and they stopped every well, and cut down every good tree, until they left [only] the stones of the wall cast down; and the slingers compassed [the land], and struck it.
26 Caemtloek loh amah a et te Moab manghai loh a hmuh vaengah amah taengkah cunghang aka pom hlang ya rhih te a khuen tih Edom manghai te a va dae coeng thai pawh.
And the king of Moab saw that the battle prevailed against him; and he took with him seven hundred men that drew sword, to cut through to the king of Edom: and they could not.
27 Te dongah amah yueng aka manghai ham a capa caming te a loh tih vongtung dongah hmueihhlutnah la a khuen. Israel soah a thinhul bat doela a taeng lamloh nong uh tih amah kho la mael uh.
And he took his oldest son whom he had designed to reign in his stead, and offered him up for a whole burnt offering on the walls. And there was a great indignation against Israel; and they departed from him, and returned to their land.
