< 2 Khokhuen 32 >
1 He oltak olka hnukah tah Assyria manghai Sennacherib tah cet tih Judah la pawk. Te vaengah khopuei vong cak rhoek te a rhaeh thil tih amah hut la ka muk eh a ti.
After these things, and the establishment thereof, Sennacherib king of Assyria came, and entered into Judah, and encamped against the fenced cities, and thought to win them for himself.
2 A mikhmuh ah caemtloek ham Jerusalem la Sennacherib a pawk te Hezekiah loh a hmuh.
And when Hezekiah saw that Sennacherib was come, and that he was purposed to fight against Jerusalem,
3 Te dongah a mangpa rhoek neh a hlangrhalh rhoek taengah khopuei rhamvoel kah tuiphuet tui te mak hamla a uen tih a bom uh.
He took counsel with his princes and his mighty men to stop the waters of the fountains which were without the city: and they did help him.
4 Te dongah pilnam te muep tingtun tih tuisih boeih neh khohmuen khui la aka long soklong khaw a mak uh. Te vaengah, “Balae tih Assyria manghai rhoek ha pawk uh vetih tui muep a hmuh uh mai eh?” a ti uh.
So there was gathered much people together, who stopped all the fountains, and the brook that ran through the midst of the land, saying, Why should the kings of Assyria come, and find much water?
5 Te phoeiah thaa a huel uh tih vongtung aka puut boeih te a biing uh. Rhaltoengim so neh a tloe vongtung rhamvoel hil a hil tih David khopuei kah vaikhap te a moem. Pumcumnah neh photling khaw a cungkuem la a saii.
Also he strengthened himself, and built up all the wall that was broken, and raised it up to the towers, and another wall without, and repaired Millo in the city of David, and made darts and shields in abundance.
6 Pilnam soah caemtloek mangpa rhoek a khueh tih amih te khopuei vongka toltung ah amah taengla a coi. Te vaengah amih thinko ah a thui pah tih,
And he set captains of war over the people, and gathered them together to him in the street of the gate of the city, and spake comfortably to them, saying,
7 Thaahuel uh lamtah namning uh, Assyria manghai mikhmuh ah rhih uh boeh, rhihyawp uh boeh. Te lamloh anih taengah hlangping loh cungkuem mai cakhaw anih taengkah lakah mamih taengkah he ping ngai.
Be strong and courageous, be not afraid nor dismayed for the king of Assyria, nor for all the multitude that is with him: for there be more with us than with him:
8 Anih taengah pumsa kah bantha ni a om. Mamih taengah tah mamih kah Pathen BOEIPA he mamih aka bom ham neh mamih kah caemtloeknah te aka vathoh puei la om coeng,” a ti nah. Te dongah Judah manghai Hezekiah ol lamloh pilnam khaw duel uh thae.
With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is Yhwh our God to help us, and to fight our battles. And the people rested themselves upon the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.
9 A hnukah tah Assyria manghai Sennacherib loh a sal rhoek te Jerusalem la a tueih. Te vaengah anih te amah taengkah a khohung boeih neh Lakhish imdan ah Judah manghai Hezekiah neh Jerusalem kah Judah boeih te a pai thil.
After this did Sennacherib king of Assyria send his servants to Jerusalem, (but he himself laid siege against Lachish, and all his power with him, ) unto Hezekiah king of Judah, and unto all Judah that were at Jerusalem, saying,
10 Te vaengah, “Assyria manghai Sennacherib loh he ni a thui. Me dongah nim na pangtung uh tih Jerusalem kah vongup ah kho na sak uh?
Thus saith Sennacherib king of Assyria, Whereon do ye trust, that ye abide in the siege in Jerusalem?
11 Hezekiah loh nangmih te m'vueh moenih a? Khokha neh tuihalh ah duek sak hamla nangmih m'voeih tih, 'Mamih kah Pathen BOEIPA loh, mamih he Assyria manghai kut lamkah n'huul bitni,’ a ti.
Doth not Hezekiah persuade you to give over yourselves to die by famine and by thirst, saying, Yhwh our God shall deliver us out of the hand of the king of Assyria?
12 A hmuensang neh a hmueihtuk aka khoe khaw Hezekiah amah moenih a? Te vaengah Judah taeng neh Jerusalem taengah a uen tih, 'Hmueihtuk pakhat hmai bueng ah ni na bakop uh vetih te soah ni na phum eh?,’ a ti.
Hath not the same Hezekiah taken away his high places and his altars, and commanded Judah and Jerusalem, saying, Ye shall worship before one altar, and burn incense upon it?
13 Kai neh a pa loh khohmuen pilnam boeih taengah ka saii te na ming pawt nim? Khohmuen namtom pathen rhoek loh, a khohmuen te kai kut lamloh a huul ham coeng rhoe coeng ve nim?
Know ye not what I and my fathers have done unto all the people of other lands? were the gods of the nations of those lands any ways able to deliver their lands out of mine hand?
14 Kai napa rhoek loh a thup namtom pathen rhoek boeih soah unim aka om? A pilnam te ka kut lamloh huul hamla unim aka coeng thai eh? Kai kut lamloh nangmih huul hamla nangmih kah Pathen te coeng thai aya?
Who was there among all the gods of those nations that my fathers utterly destroyed, that could deliver his people out of mine hand, that your God should be able to deliver you out of mine hand?
15 Tahae ah nangmih te Hezekiah loh n'rhaithi boel saeh lamtah he tlam he nangmih te m'vuet boel saeh. Anih te tangnah uh boeh. Namtom neh ram boeih pathen boeih long pataeng ka kut lamkah neh a pa rhoek kut lamloh a pilnam a huul ham a noeng moenih. Nangmih kah Pathen loh nangmih te ka kut lamloh n'huul mahpawh,” a ti nah.
Now therefore let not Hezekiah deceive you, nor persuade you on this manner, neither yet believe him: for no god of any nation or kingdom was able to deliver his people out of mine hand, and out of the hand of my fathers: how much less shall your God deliver you out of mine hand?
16 A sal rhoek khaw Pathen BOEIPA taeng neh BOEIPA kah sal Hezekiah taengah cal uh pueng.
And his servants spake yet more against Yhwh God, and against his servant Hezekiah.
17 Israel Pathen BOEIPA te veet hamla cabu a daek uh tih a taengah cal uh. Diklai namtom kah pathen rhoek loh ka kut lamkah a pilnam a huul pawt bangla, Hezekiah kah Pathen loh a pilnam te ka kut lamkah huul mahpawh,” a ti uh.
He wrote also letters to rail on Yhwh God of Israel, and to speak against him, saying, As the gods of the nations of other lands have not delivered their people out of mine hand, so shall not the God of Hezekiah deliver his people out of mine hand.
18 Amih hih ham neh amih te let sak ham, khopuei te duep hamla vongtung sokah Jerusalem pilnam te Judah ol neh a len la a doek uh.
Then they cried with a loud voice in the Jews’ speech unto the people of Jerusalem that were on the wall, to affright them, and to trouble them; that they might take the city.
19 Jerusalem kah Pathen te hlang kut dongkah bisai, diklai pilnam kah pathen kawng bangla a thui uh.
And they spake against the God of Jerusalem, as against the gods of the people of the earth, which were the work of the hands of man.
20 He kongah manghai Hezekiah neh tonghma Amoz capa Isaiah tah thangthui tih vaan a khue rhoi.
And for this cause Hezekiah the king, and the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz, prayed and cried to heaven.
21 Te dongah BOEIPA loh puencawn a tueih tih Assyria manghai rhaehhmuen kah tatthai hlangrhalh boeih neh mangpa rhaengsang rhoek te a thup pah. Te dongah amah khohmuen la maelhmai yahpohnah neh mael tih amah pathen im la pawk. Te vaengah a cakhueh neh a ko khui lamkah a cakhueh loh anih te cunghang dongah hnap cungku uh.
And Yhwh sent an angel, which cut off all the mighty men of valour, and the leaders and captains in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned with shame of face to his own land. And when he was come into the house of his god, they that came forth of his own bowels slew him there with the sword.
22 BOEIPA loh Hezekiah neh Jerusalem khosa rhoek te Assyria manghai Sennacherib kut lamkah khaw, a cungkuem kut lamkah khaw a khang tangloeng tih a kaepvai ah amih te a khool.
Thus Yhwh saved Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib the king of Assyria, and from the hand of all other, and guided them on every side.
23 Te dongah BOEIPA ham khocang neh Judah manghai Hezekiah ham kawnthen khaw Jerusalem la muep a pawk pah. Te dongah a hnuk lamloh namtom cungkuem kah mikhmuh ah a phueih.
And many brought gifts unto Yhwh to Jerusalem, and presents to Hezekiah king of Judah: so that he was magnified in the sight of all nations from thenceforth.
24 Te vaeng tue ah Hezekiah te a duek ham duela tlo. Te dongah BOEIPA taengah a thangthui hatah anih te a doo tih a taengah kopoekrhai pakhat a paek.
In those days Hezekiah was sick to the death, and prayed unto Yhwh: and he spake unto him, and he gave him a sign.
25 Tedae a sokah a tiing la Hezekiah loh a thuung pawt dongah a lungbuei a sang sak. Te dongah anih so neh Judah, Jerusalem soah thinhulnah om.
But Hezekiah rendered not again according to the benefit done unto him; for his heart was lifted up: therefore there was wrath upon him, and upon Judah and Jerusalem.
26 Te phoeiah tah a lungbuei a sang khui lamloh Hezekiah amah neh Jerusalem khosa rhoek khaw kunyun tih Hezekiah tue vaengah tah BOEIPA kah thinhulnah loh amih thoeng thil pawh.
Notwithstanding Hezekiah humbled himself for the pride of his heart, both he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the wrath of Yhwh came not upon them in the days of Hezekiah.
27 Hezekiah taengah khuehtawn khaw om tih thangpomnah neh muep rhoeng. Te dongah amah loh cak ham neh sui ham khaw, lung vang ham neh botui ham khaw, photling ham neh sahnaih hnopai cungkuem ham khaw thakvoh a saii.
And Hezekiah had exceeding much riches and honour: and he made himself treasuries for silver, and for gold, and for precious stones, and for spices, and for shields, and for all manner of pleasant jewels;
28 Canghum cangpai, misur thai neh situi ham rhuengim khaw, rhamsa saelhung boeih neh tuvong khuikah tuping ham khaw im a sak.
Storehouses also for the increase of grain, and wine, and oil; and stalls for all manner of beasts, and cotes for flocks.
29 Pathen loh anih te khuehtawn muep a paek khungdaeng dongah amah ham khopuei a saii tih saelrhoi boiva neh saelhung khaw a cungkuem la a det.
Moreover he provided him cities, and possessions of flocks and herds in abundance: for God had given him substance very much.
30 Hezekiah amah loh Gihon tui hnun te a soah a ueng tih David khopuei kah khotlak hil a dang la a hlawn. Hezekiah tah a cungkuem dongah a bibi khaw a thaihtak pah.
This same Hezekiah also stopped the upper watercourse of Gihon, and brought it straight down to the west side of the city of David. And Hezekiah prospered in all his works.
31 Tedae khohmuen ah aka thoeng kopoekrhai kawng dawt ham te Babylon mangpa rhoek loh a taengla hmuiyoi a tueih vaengah tah anih te noemcai ham neh, a thinko khuikah boeih te ming hamla Pathen loh anih te a hnoo.
Howbeit in the business of the ambassadors of the princes of Babylon, who sent unto him to enquire of the wonder that was done in the land, God left him, to try him, that he might know all that was in his heart.
32 Hezekiah kah ol noi neh a sitlohnah te tonghma Amoz capa Isaiah kah mangthui khuiah khaw, Judah neh Israel manghai rhoek kah cabu khuiah khaw a daek uh.
Now the rest of the acts of Hezekiah, and his goodness, behold, they are written in the vision of Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, and in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.
33 Hezekiah te a napa rhoek taengla a khoem uh vaengah tah anih te David koca rhoek kah phuel tangkham ah a up uh. A dueknah hnin ah anih te Judah pum neh Jerusalem khosa rhoek loh thangpomnah a saii uh. Te phoeiah tah a capa Manasseh te anih yueng la manghai.
And Hezekiah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the chiefest of the sepulchres of the sons of David: and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem did him honour at his death. And Manasseh his son reigned in his stead.
