< 1 Samuel 6 >

1 BOEIPA kah thingkawng tah Philisti kho ah hla rhih om.
And it came to pass, that the ark of Yahweh was in the country of the Philistines, seven months.
2 Te vaengah Philisti rhoek loh khosoih neh hlang aka bi te a khue tih, “BOEIPA thingkawng te metlam n'saii eh?, amah hmuen la metla n'thak ham khaw mamih loh thui uh sih?” a ti uh.
Then called the Philistines for the priests and for the diviners, saying, What shall we do with the ark of Yahweh? Let us know, wherewith we shall send it to its own place.
3 Te vaengah, “Israel Pathen kah thingkawng te na thak atah kuttling la thak boeh. Tedae a taengah hmaithennah te mael rhoe mael. Te vaengah na hoeih uh vetih nangmih taengla ha phoe bitni. Balae tih nangmih taeng lamloh a kut a yueh pawt eh?,” a ti uh.
And they said—If ye are going to send away the ark of the God of Israel, do not send it away, empty, but ye must, surely return, to him, a guilt-offering, —then, shall ye be healed, and it shall be known to you, wherefore his hand would not turn away from you.
4 Te dongah, “A taengah n'thuung ham te mebang hmaithennah nim?,” a ti uh. Te vaengah, “Philisti boei tarhing la sui rhilcolh panga neh sui su panga tah amih boeih neh na boei rhoek kah lucik dongah pakhat la pae saeh.
And they said—What shall be the guilt-offering, that we shall return to him? And they said—By the number of the lords of the Philistines, five tumours of gold, and five mice of gold, —for, one plague, was on you all, and on your lords.
Wherefore ye shall make likenesses of your turnouts, and likenesses of your mice that are laying waste the land, and shall, give unto the, God of Israel, glory, —Peradventure he will lighten his hand from off you, and from off your god, and from off your land.
6 Balae tih Egypt rhoek neh Pharaoh kah a lungbuei a thangpom bangla na thinko na thangpom uh. Amih te a poelyoe daengah Israel te a tueih tih a caeh sak uh moenih a?
Wherefore, then, should ye make your heart dull, as the Egyptians and Pharaoh made their heart dull! When he had done his great doings upon them, did they not let them go, and they departed?
7 Lo uh lamtah leng a thai pakhat ah saii uh laeh. Tedae vaito rhoi tahhnamkun aka mawt pawh vaito cacun la om saeh lamtah vaito rhoi te leng dongah khit uh. Tedae a ca rhoi te a manu rhoi taeng lamloh im la bal puei uh.
Now, therefore, take and get ready, one new waggon, and two milch kine, whereon hath never come yoke, —then shall ye fasten the kine in the waggon, and withdraw their calves from them, into the shed;
8 BOEIPA thingkawng te lo uh lamtah leng dongla tloeng uh. Sui hnopai te khaw a kaep kah thakvoh dongah khueh uh lamtah hmaithennah la khuen sak. Te phoeiah mah thingkawng te tueih uh lamtah cet saeh.
and ye shall take the ark of Yahweh, and place it in the waggon, also, the jewels of gold which ye send back to him as a guilt-offering, shall ye put into a coffer, at the side thereof, —so shall ye let it go, and it shall depart.
9 Tedae amah khorhi kah Bethshemesh longpuei a pha duela so uh lah, mamih ham boethae muep han saii venim, te a om pawt bal atah mamih taengah a kut hlah voel pawh tite m'ming uh vetih a hmatoeng te mamih ham om bitni,” a ti uh.
Then shall ye look—if, by the way of its own boundary, it goeth up to Beth-shemesh, he, it was who caused us this great affliction, —but, if not, then shall we know that it was not, his hand, that smote us, a chance, it was, that befell us.
10 Hlang rhoek long khaw te tlam te a saii uh. Te dongah vaito cacun pumnit te a loh uh tih leng dongla a khih uh. Tedae a ca rhoi te tah im ah a pael uh.
The men, therefore, did so, and took two milch kine, and fastened them in the waggon, —but, their calves, shut they up in the shed.
11 Te phoeiah BOEIPA kah thingkawng khaw, thakvoh khaw, sui su neh rhilcolh muei te khaw, leng dongla a khueh uh.
And they put the ark of Yahweh, into the waggon, —also the coffer, with the mice of gold, and the likenesses of their tumours.
12 Te vaengah vaito khaw Bethshemesh longpuei dongkah longpuei pakhat ah tluek tluek cet. Long pakhat dongah cet uh tih a rhung doela cet uh. Banvoei bantang ah taengphael kolla Philisti boei rhoek khaw Bethshemesh khorhi duela amih hnukah cet uh.
And the kine went straight along the road, on the way to Beth-shemesh, yea, along the main highway, they went, lowing as they went, turning not aside, to the right hand or to the left. And, the lords of the Philistines, went along after them, as far as the bounds of Beth-shemesh.
13 Te vaengah Bethshemesh kol ah cang aka at rhoek loh a mik a huel uh tih thingkawng te a sawt uh vaengah hmuh hamla a kohoe uh.
Now, they of Beth-shemesh, were reaping their wheat-harvest in the vale, —so they lifted up their eyes, and saw the ark, and rejoiced to meet it.
14 Tedae leng loh Bethshemesh kah Joshua lo la a pawk vaengah pahoi pai. Teah te lungnu a om hatah leng dongkah thing te a top uh tih vaito rhoi te BOEIPA taengah hmueihhlutnah la a nawn uh.
And, the waggon, entered into the field of Joshua, a man of Beth-shemesh, and stood still, there, where also, was a great stone, —so they clave into pieces the planks of the waggon, and, the kine, offered they up as an ascending-sacrifice, unto Yahweh.
15 Te phoeiah BOEIPA thingkawng neh thakvoh khaw, thakvoh khuikah sui hnopai te khaw Levi rhoek loh a pom uh tih lungnu soah a tloeng uh. Tekah khohnin ah Bethshemesh hlang rhoek loh BOEIPA ham hmueihhlutnah a khueh uh tih hmueih a ngawn uh.
And, the Levites, took down the ark of Yahweh, and the coffer that was with it, wherein were the jewels of gold, and put them upon the great stone, —and, the men of Beth-shemesh, caused to go up ascending-offerings and offered sacrifices, that day, unto Yahweh.
16 Philisti boei panga long khaw a sawt uh tih amah khohnin dongah Ekron la balang uh.
And, the five lords of the Philistines, saw it, —and returned unto Ekron, the same day.
17 Philisti rhoek loh BOEIPA taengah hmaithennah la a mael sui rhilcolh rhoek te, Ashdod ham pakhat, Gaza ham pakhat, Ashkelon ham pakhat, Gath ham pakhat, Ekron ham pakhat a nawn pah.
Now, these, are the golden boils which, the Philistines returned as a guilt-offering unto Yahweh, —For Ashdod, one, for Gaza, one, for Ashkelon, one, for Gath, one, for Ekron, one;
18 Sui su te tah Philisti khopuei boeih tarhing ah, khopuei hmuencak lamkah boei panga ham khaw, vangcahlang tlansum ham khaw a om pah. BOEIPA thingkawng neh a tloeng thil uh Lungnu te tihnin duela Bethshemesh kah Joshua lo ah om pueng.
And the golden mice, by the number of all the cities of the Philistines, pertaining to the five lords, both fortified cities, and country villages, —yea, even the great meadow whereon they rested the ark of Yahweh, until this day, is in the field-land of Joshua, the man of Beth-shemesh.
19 Tedae BOEIPA thingkawng khuila aka so Bethshemesh hlang rhoek te a ngawn bal tih pilnam khuikah hlang tongpa thawng sawmnga phoeiah sawmrhih te a ngawn. Pilnam te BOEIPA loh hmasoe len neh a ngawn dongah pilnam khaw nguekcoi.
And, when he smote the men of Beth-shemesh, because they looked into the ark of Yahweh, yea smote of the people seventy men [and] fifty thousand men, the people mourned, for that Yahweh had smitten the people with a great smiting.
20 Te dongah Bethshemesh hlang rhoek loh, “Pathen Cim BOEIPA mikhmuh ah pai ham he ulae aka coeng thai pai eh? Mamih taeng lamkah khaw ulae aka cet eh?,” a ti uh.
Then said the men of Beth-shemesh, Who is able to stand before Yahweh, this holy God? and, unto whom, shall he go up from us?
21 Te dongah Kiriathjearim kah khosa rhoek taengla puencawn a tueih uh tih, “BOEIPA thingkawng te Philisti loh ham bal coeng dongah ha suntla uh lamtah namamih taengla khuen uh laeh,” a ti nah.
And they sent messengers unto the inhabitants of Kiriath-jearim, saying, —The Philistines have returned the ark of Yahweh, come down, fetch it up unto you.
