1 Samuel 19

Saul spoke to Jonathan his son and to all his servants, that they should kill David. But Jonathan, Saul’s son, greatly delighted in David.
2 Te dongah Jonathan te David taengaha puen tih, “A pa Saul loh nang he duek sak hamla m'mae coeng, te dongah mincang duela ngaithuen uh, yinhnuk ah khosa lamtah thuh uh,
Jonathan told David, saying, “Saul my father seeks to kill you. Now therefore, please take care of yourself in the morning, live in a secret place, and hide yourself.
3 Kai khaw ka cet vetih na om nah lohma kah a pa kut dongah kana pai bitni. Te vaengah nang kawng te kamah loh a pa taengah ka thui pah vetih mebang ka hmuh akhaw nang taengah ka puen bitni,” a ti nah.
I will go out and stand beside my father in the field where you are, and I will talk with my father about you; and if I see anything, I will tell you.”
4 David kawng te Jonathan loh a napa Saul taengaha then la a thui pah tih, “A sal taeng neh David taengah manghai nang loh lai khueh boeh, anih loh nang taengah lai a khueh van moenih, a khoboe khaw nang taengah bahoeng then.
Jonathan spoke good of David to Saul his father, and said to him, “Don’t let the king sin against his servant, against David; because he has not sinned against you, and because his works have been very good toward you;

for he put his life in his hand and struck the Philistine, and the LORD worked a great victory for all Israel. You saw it and rejoiced. Why then will you sin against innocent blood, to kill David without a cause?”
6 Saul loh Jonathan ol tea yaak vaengah, “BOEIPA kah hingnah rhang neh ka ngawn mahpawh,” tila Saul loh a caeng.
Saul listened to the voice of Jonathan; and Saul swore, “As the LORD lives, he shall not be put to death.”
7 Te dongah Jonathan loh David tea khue tih olka he khaw anih taengah Jonathan loh boeiha thui pah. Te phoeiah David te Jonathan loh Saul taenglaa khuen tih hlaem hlavai kah bangla a mikhmuh aha om pah.
Jonathan called David, and Jonathan showed him all those things. Then Jonathan brought David to Saul, and he was in his presence as before.
8 Caemtloek loh a koei tih a om vaengah David te hlah uh tih Philisti te a vathoh thil. Te vaengah amih te hmasoe len neh a ngawn tih Philisti khaw David mikhmuh lamkah rhaelrham uh.
There was war again. David went out and fought with the Philistines, and killed them with a great slaughter; and they fled before him.
9 Tedae BOEIPA kah mueihla thae loh Saul soaha om vaengah tah a kut dongkah caai neh a im khuiah ngol. Te vaengah David loh kuta luem nah.
An evil spirit from the LORD was on Saul as he sat in his house with his spear in his hand; and David was playing music with his hand.
10 Saul loh David neh pangbueng te caai neh daeng rhenten hamlaa moeh coeng dae Saul kah mikhmuh aha phaelhael tak dongah caai te pangbueng dongah tlaeh. David khaw tekah khoyin ah rhaelrham tih a poeng a hal.
Saul sought to pin David to the wall with the spear, but he slipped away out of Saul’s presence; and he stuck the spear into the wall. David fled and escaped that night.
11 Te dongah anih te dawn tih mincang ah ngawn hamla Saul loh David im la puencawna hlah. Tedae a yuu Mikhal te David taengla puen tih, “Na hinglu ham khoyin ah na loeih pawt koinih thangvuen ah na duek pawn ni,” a ti nah.
Saul sent messengers to David’s house to watch him and to kill him in the morning. Michal, David’s wife, told him, saying, “If you don’t save your life tonight, tomorrow you will be killed.”
12 Te dongah Mikhal loh David te bangbuet longaha suntlak sak tiha caeh sak daengah yong pueng tih a poeng a hal pueng.
So Michal let David down through the window. He went away, fled, and escaped.
13 Te phoeiah Mikhal loh sithui tea loh tih baiphaih dongaha soei. A lu ah maae mula khueh pah tih himbai neha khuk.
Michal took the teraphim and laid it in the bed, and put a pillow of goats’ hair at its head and covered it with clothes.
14 David te tuuk hamla Saul loh puencawn rhoek a tueih vaengah tah, “David a sa tlo,” a ti nah.
When Saul sent messengers to take David, she said, “He is sick.”
15 Tedae David te sawt hamla Saul loh puencawn rhoek tea tueih tih, “Anih te ngawn hamla baiphaih neh kamah taengla hang khuen uh,” a ti nah.
Saul sent the messengers to see David, saying, “Bring him up to me in the bed, that I may kill him.”
16 Tedae baiphaih dongkah sithui vik te a lu dongah maae mul hoeng la puencawn rhoek loh kaka thoeng thiluh.
When the messengers came in, behold, the teraphim was in the bed, with the pillow of goats’ hair at its head.
17 Te dongah Saul loh Mikhal te, “Balae tih he tluk la kai nam phok, ka thunkha te na tueih tiha loeih,” a ti nah. Te vaengah Mikhal loh Saul te, “Amah loh kai taengah, 'Kai he n'tueih mai,’ a ti balae tih nan duek sak eh,” a ti nah.
Saul said to Michal, “Why have you deceived me like this and let my enemy go, so that he has escaped?” Michal answered Saul, “He said to me, ‘Let me go! Why should I kill you?’”
18 David te yong tiha loeih phoeiah Ramah kah Samuel tea paan. Te vaengah Saul loh anih taengaha saii te a taengah boeiha thui pah. Te phoeiah Samuel neh cet rhoi tih Naioth ah om rhoi.
Now David fled and escaped, and came to Samuel at Ramah, and told him all that Saul had done to him. He and Samuel went and lived in Naioth.
19 Tedae Saul taenglaa puen pa uh tih, “Ramah Naioth ah David om ke,” a ti nah.
Saul was told, saying, “Behold, David is at Naioth in Ramah.”
20 Te dongah David tuuk hamla Saul loh puencawn rhoek te a tueih. Te vaengah tonghma tarhoi te tonghma uh tih amih taengah Samuel cawkdawk la a pai te a hmuh uh. Saul kah puencawn rhoek khaw Pathen Mueihla loh a om thil dongah amih khaw boeih tonghma uh.
Saul sent messengers to seize David; and when they saw the company of the prophets prophesying, and Samuel standing as head over them, God’s Spirit came on Saul’s messengers, and they also prophesied.
21 Saul taenglaa puen uh dongah puencawna tloe rhoek a tueih hatah amih khaw nunan tonghma uh. Te dongah Saul loh a pathum duela a rhaep tih puencawn rhoek te a tueih hatah amih khaw tonghma uh sumsoek.
When Saul was told, he sent other messengers, and they also prophesied. Saul sent messengers again the third time, and they also prophesied.
22 Te dongah amah khaw Ramah la cet tih Seku kah tangrhom puei la pawk. Te vaengaha dawt tih, “Samuel neh David ta?,” a ti nah hatah, “Ramah Naioth ah om ke,” a ti na uh.
Then he also went to Ramah, and came to the great well that is in Secu: and he asked, “Where are Samuel and David?” One said, “Behold, they are at Naioth in Ramah.”
23 Te dongah Ramah Naioth la pahoi cet. Tedae anih khaw Pathen Mueihla loh a om thil dongah cet cet tih Ramah Naioth a pha duela voek tonghma bal.
He went there to Naioth in Ramah. Then God’s Spirit came on him also, and he went on, and prophesied, until he came to Naioth in Ramah.
24 Amah khaw a himbaia pit tih Samuel mikhmuh ah amah tonghma bal. Te khothaih puet khoyin puet pumtling la yalh. Te dongah, “Saul khaw tonghma khuikah ni nama?” a ti uh.
He also stripped off his clothes. He also prophesied before Samuel and lay down naked all that day and all that night. Therefore they say, “Is Saul also among the prophets?”
