< 1 Peter 2 >

1 Te dongah phayoenah boeih khaw, tuengkhuepnah neh thailatnah boeih khaw, uethnetnah neh olthaekaling boeih hnawt uh laeh.
Laying aside therefore all malice and all guile and hypocrisies and envyings and all evil speakings,
as newborn babes desire earnestly the pure mental milk of the word, that by it ye may grow up to salvation,
if indeed ye have tasted that the Lord [is] good.
4 hlang loh a hnawt coeng ngawn dae Pathen taengah a khoelh la a coelh aka hing lungnu te paan uh.
To whom coming, a living stone, cast away indeed as worthless by men, but with God chosen, precious,
5 Nangmih khaw aka hing lungto bangla a cim khosoih la om ham mueihla im te sa uh. Jesuh Khrih rhangneh Pathen taengah a uem la mueihla hmueih te khuen uh.
yourselves also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
6 Cacim khuiah a hulh coeng ta. Zion kah imkil lung te a khoelh la ka coelh tih ka tloeng ke. Te dongah anih soah aka pangtung tah yahpok loengloeng mahpawh.
Because it is contained in the scripture: Behold, I lay in Zion a corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believes on him shall not be put to shame.
To you therefore who believe [is] the preciousness; but to the disobedient, the stone which the builders cast away as worthless, this is become head of [the] corner,
8 U khaw olka aka aek long tah a tongtah ham ni tekah te khaw a khueh.
and a stone of stumbling and rock of offence; [who] stumble at the word, being disobedient to which also they have been appointed.
9 Tedae nangmih tah a coelh namtu, mangpa khosoih, namtu cim, dangnah dongkah pilnam ni.
But ye [are] a chosen race, a kingly priesthood, a holy nation, a people for a possession, that ye might set forth the excellencies of him who has called you out of darkness to his wonderful light;
10 Hnukbuet kah a pilnam pawt te Pathen kah a pilnam la na om uh coeng. A rhen mueh te n'rhen coeng.
who once [were] not a people, but now God's people; who were not enjoying mercy, but now have found mercy.
Beloved, I exhort [you], as strangers and sojourners, to abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
12 Nangmih kah omih te namtom taengah a then la khueh uh. Te daengah ni laihmu bangla nangmih n'yan vaengah khoboe then aka hmu rhoek loh hiphoelnah khohnin ah Pathen te a thangpom uh eh.
having your conversation honest among the Gentiles, that [as to that] in which they speak against you as evildoers, they may through [your] good works, [themselves] witnessing [them], glorify God in [the] day of visitation.
13 Boeipa kongah tah suentae hlanghing boeih, tanglue manghai taengah khaw boengai uh.
Be in subjection [therefore] to every human institution for the Lord's sake; whether to [the] king as supreme,
14 Laihmu te kutthungnah ham neh boethen te koehnah ham ni amah lamloh khoboei rhoek khaw a tueih.
or to rulers as sent by him, for vengeance on evildoers, and praise to them that do well.
15 Malkoelh-maldang hlang ang rhoek paa sak ham a thensai he Pathen kah kongaih tangloeng coeng ni.
Because so is the will of God, that by well-doing ye put to silence the ignorance of senseless men;
16 Te dongah poenghalnah he phayoenah kah muekdahnah la om boel saeh lamtah Pathen kah sal rhoek bangla aka loeih la omuh.
as free, and not as having liberty as a cloak of malice, but as God's bondmen.
17 Hlang boeih te hinyah lah. Manuca te lungnah. Pathen te rhih uh lamtah manghai te hinyah uh.
Shew honour to all, love the brotherhood, fear God, honour the king.
18 Imkhut rhoek, a cungkuem ah boengai uh lamtah boeikung te rhihnah khuehuh. Boethen neh kodo taeng bueng ah pawt tih vilvak rhoek taengah khaw birhih lah.
Servants, [be] subject with all fear to your masters, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the ill-tempered.
19 Pathen kah mingcimnah kongah khat khat loh kothaenah a yook tih a patang dahlawt atah te te lungvatnah la a om pah.
For this [is] acceptable, if one, for conscience sake towards God, endure griefs, suffering unjustly.
20 Na tholh tih m'phop vaengah na ueh uh koinih balae a uem eh? Tedae a then tih patang na ueh uh koinih ta, te ni Pathen taengah lungvatnah aka om.
For what glory [is it], if sinning and being buffeted ye shall bear [it]? but if, doing good and suffering, ye shall bear [it], this is acceptable with God.
21 Khrih khaw nangmih ham a patang dongah ni te ham te n'khue. A kholaeh te rhoih hamla nangmih kah awtkoi la a khueh coeng.
For to this have ye been called; for Christ also has suffered for you, leaving you a model that ye should follow in his steps:
22 Anih tah tholhnah khaw saii pawt tih a ka dongah tuengkhuepnah khaw phoe pawh.
who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth;
23 Ol aka bai te thuung pawh. A patang vaengah hihham pawh. Tedae laitloek aka tiktam vik te a voeih uh.
who, [when] reviled, reviled not again; [when] suffering, threatened not; but gave [himself] over into the hands of him who judges righteously;
24 Amah loh mamih kah tholhnah te thing dongkah amah pum dongah a khuen coeng. Te daengah ni tholhnah dongah aka duek loh duengnah dongah n'hing uh eh. Amah kah boengha lamloh na hoeih uh coeng.
who himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, in order that, being dead to sins, we may live to righteousness: by whose stripes ye have been healed.
For ye were going astray as sheep, but have now returned to the shepherd and overseer of your souls.
