1 Khohnin muep a koe phoeikah a kum thum dongah BOEIPA ol te Elijah taengla pawk tih, “Cet lamtah Ahab taengah phoe pah, diklai hman ah khotlan kan paek bitni,” a ti nah.
And it came to pass [after] many days, that the word of the LORD came to Elijah in the third year, saying, Go, show thyself to Ahab; and I will send rain upon the earth.
2 Te dongah Elijah te Ahab taengah phoe hamla cet. Te vaengah Samaria ah khokha tlung.
And Elijah went to show himself to Ahab. And [there was] a grievous famine in Samaria.
And Ahab called Obadiah who [was] the governor of [his] house. (Now Obadiah feared the LORD greatly:
4 BOEIPA kah tonghma rhoek te Jezebel loh a thup ham a om vaengah khaw Obadiah loh tonghma yakhat te a khuen tih amih te lungko pakhat ah hlang sawmnga rhip a thuh. Te phoeiah amih te buh neh tui neh a cangbam.
For it was [so], when Jezebel cut off the prophets of the LORD, that Obadiah took a hundred prophets, and hid them by fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water.)
5 Ahab loh Obadiah te, “Khohmuen kah tuisih tui boeih neh soklong boeih te paan lamtah sulrham khaw m'hmuh khaming. Te daengah ni marhang neh muli-marhang n'hing sak vetih rhamsa khaw n'hlong pawt eh?,” a ti nah.
And Ahab said to Obadiah, Go into the land, to all fountains of water, and to all brooks: it may be we may find grass to save the horses and mules alive, that we lose not all the beasts.
6 Khohmuen tom til hamla amamih tael uh thae. Ahab te amah bueng longpuei pakhat ah cet tih Obadiah khaw amah bueng longpuei pakhat ah cet.
So they divided the land between them to pass throughout it: Ahab went one way by himself, and Obadiah went another way by himself.
7 Obadiah te longpueng ah a om vaengah anih te Elijah loh tapkhoeh a doe. Anih te a hmat coeng dongah a maelhmai dongah buluk tih, “Ka boeipa Elijah nang a te?” a ti nah.
And as Obadiah was in the way, behold, Elijah met him: and he knew him, and fell on his face, and said, [Art] thou that my lord Elijah?
And he answered him, I [am]: go, tell thy lord, Behold, Elijah [is here].
And he said, What have I sinned, that thou wouldest deliver thy servant into the hand of Ahab to slay me?
10 Nang kah Pathen BOEIPA kah hingnah dongah, nang tlap pahoi ham ka boei loh n'tueih pawh, namtom neh ram om voel pawh. Nang m'hmuh pawt te, “Om pawh,” a ti uh vaengah ram neh namtom khaw a toemngam coeng.
[As] the LORD thy God liveth, there is no nation nor kingdom, whither my lord hath not sent to seek thee: and when they said, [He is] not [there]; he took an oath of the kingdom and nation, that they found thee not.
11 Tedae nang loh, 'Na boei taengah cet lamtah 'Elijah he,’ ti nah,’ na ti mai.
And now thou sayest, Go, tell thy lord, Behold, Elijah [is here].
And it will come to pass, [as soon as] I have gone from thee, that the Spirit of the LORD will carry thee whither I know not; and [so] when I come and tell Ahab, and he cannot find thee, he will slay me: but I thy servant fear the LORD from my youth.
13 Jezebel loh BOEIPA kah tonghma rhoek a ngawn vaengah ka saii te ka boeipa taengla ha puen pawt nim? BOEIPA tonghma hlang yakhat te lungko pakhat ah hlang sawmnga, sawmnga rhip ka thuh tih amih te buh neh tui neh ka cangbam coeng.
Was it not told my lord what I did when Jezebel slew the prophets of the LORD, how I hid a hundred men of the LORD'S prophets by fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water?
14 Tedae tahae ah, “Cet lamtah na boei rhoek taengah 'Elijah he 'ti nah na ti vaengah kai n'ngawn pawn ni,” a ti nah.
And now thou sayest, Go, tell thy lord, Behold, Elijah [is here]: and he will slay me.
15 Elijah loh, “Caempuei BOEIPA kah hingnah bangla amah mikhmuh ah ka pai coeng. Tihnin ah Ahab taengla ka phoe kuekluek ni,” a ti nah.
And Elijah said, [As] the LORD of hosts liveth, before whom I stand, I will surely show myself to him to-day.
16 Obadiah te Ahab doe hamla cet tih a taengah a puen pah. Te dongah Ahab khaw Elijah doe hamla cet.
So Obadiah went to meet Ahab, and told him; and Ahab went to meet Elijah.
17 Ahab loh Elijah te a hmuh vaengah Ahab loh anih te, “Israel aka lawn te nang nama?” a ti nah.
And it came to pass, when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said to him, [Art] thou he that troubleth Israel?
And he answered, I have not troubled Israel; but thou, and thy father's house, in that ye have forsaken the commandments of the LORD, and thou hast followed Baalim.
19 Karmel tlang la kamah taengah Israel pum neh Baal tonghma rhoek ya li sawmnga, Jezebel caboei aka vael Asherah tonghma ya li te khue lamtah coi laeh,” a ti nah.
Now therefore send, [and] gather to me all Israel to mount Carmel, and the prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the groves four hundred, who eat at Jezebel's table.
20 Ahab loh Israel ca boeih te a tah tih tonghma rhoek neh Karmel tlang ah a tingtun sak.
So Ahab sent to all the children of Israel, and gathered the prophets to mount Carmel.
Pathen Yahweh kah van atah a hnukah rhep pongpa uh. Tedae Baal kah van atah anih hnukah rhep pongpa uh,” a ti nah vaengah pilnam loh anih te ol doo pawh.
And Elijah came to all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD [is] God, follow him: but if Baal, [then] follow him. And the people answered him not a word.
Then said Elijah to the people, I [even] I only, remain a prophet of the LORD; but Baal's prophet's [are] four hundred and fifty men.
23 Kaimih ham vaito pumnit m'pae uh laeh.
Let them therefore give us two bullocks; and let them choose one bullock for themselves, and cut it in pieces, and lay [it] on wood, and put no fire [under]: and I will dress the other bullock, and lay [it] on wood, and put no fire [under]:
24 Na pathen rhoek kah ming te khue uh lamtah kai khaw Yahweh ming te ka khue eh. Tedae hmai neh aka doo Pathen te tah Pathen tang la om ni,” a ti nah. Te vaengah pilnam pum loh a doo tih, “Ol then ni,” a ti uh.
And call ye on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the LORD: and the God that answereth by fire, let him be God. And all the people answered and said, It is well spoken.
Tedae hmai tah toih uh boeh,” a ti nah.
And Elijah said to the prophets of Baal, Choose you one bullock for yourselves, and dress [it] first; for ye [are] many; and call on the name of your gods, but put no fire [under].
26 Te dongah vaito a khuen uh te amih taengah a paek uh tih a ngawn uh. Baal ming te mincang lamloh khothun hil a khue uh. “Baal, kaimih n'doo lah,” a ti uh. Tedae ol a om pawt tih a doo pawt dongah a saii hmueihtuk taengah ingang uh.
And they took the bullock which was given them, and they dressed [it], and called on the name of Baal from morning even until noon, saying, O Baal, hear us. But [there was] no voice, nor any that answered. And they leaped upon the altar which was made.
27 Khothun a pha vaengah Elijah tah amih taengah omsaa tih, “Ol a len la pang uh, na pathen te kohuetnah om khaming, anih te bitok khaming, anih te yiin mai khaming, anih te muelh ip mai khaming, haeng uh dae,” a ti nah.
And it came to pass at noon, that Elijah mocked them, and said, Cry aloud: for he [is] a god; either he is talking, or he is pursuing, or he is on a journey, [or] perhaps he sleepeth, and must be awaked.
28 Te dongah ol a len la pang uh. Amih kah khosing bangla a pum dongkah thii a long hil cunghang neh cai neh a hlap uh.
And they cried aloud, and cut themselves after their manner with knives and lancets, till the blood gushed out upon them.
29 Khothun a poeng tih khocang nawn hil khaw tonghma uh. Tedae ol om pawt tih a doo voel pawt dongah hnatungnah khaw om pawh.
And it came to pass, when mid-day was past, and they prophesied until the [time] of the offering of the [evening] sacrifice, that [there was] neither voice, nor any to answer, nor any that regarded.
30 Elijah loh pilnam boeih te, “Kai taengla ha thoeih uh,” a ti nah. Te dongah pilnam pum te anih taengla thoeih uh tih BOEIPA kah hmueihtuk a koengloeng tangtae te a tlaih uh.
And Elijah said to all the people, Come near to me. And all the people came near to him. And he repaired the altar of the LORD [that was] broken down.
31 A taengah BOEIPA ol pawk tih, “Na ming he Israel la om saeh,” a ti nah vanbangla Jakob ca rhoek kah koca tarhing ah Elijah loh lungto hlai nit a loh.
And Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, to whom the word of the LORD came, saying, Israel shall be thy name:
32 BOEIPA ming neh hmueihtuk lung te koep a khoeng tih hmueihtuk kaep ah cangti sum nit cet la tuilong a saii.
And with the stones he built an altar in the name of the LORD: and he made a trench about the altar, as great as would contain two measures of seed.
33 Thing te a hawn phoeiah vaito te a top tih thing soah a tloeng.
And he put the wood in order, and cut the bullock in pieces, and laid [him] on the wood, and said, Fill four barrels with water, and pour [it] on the burnt-sacrifice, and on the wood.
34 Te phoeiah amrhaeng pali dongah tui than uh lamtah hmueihhlutnah soah khaw, thing soah khaw, bueih uh,” a ti nah. Te phoeiah, “Talh dae,” a ti nah tih a talh uh. Te phoeiah, “Voei thum,” a ti nah tih voei thum a saiiuh.
And he said, Do [it] the second time. And they did [it] the second time. And he said, Do [it] the third time. And they did [it] the third time.
35 Tui te hmueihtuk kaepvai la long tih tuilong ah pataeng tui bae.
And the water ran around the altar; and he filled the trench also with water.
36 Khocang nawn tue a pha vaengah tonghma Elijah te thoeih tih, “Abraham, Isaak neh Israel Pathen Yahweh aw, tihnin ah namah te Pathen la Israel khuiah m'ming saeh. Na ol vanbangla kai he namah kah sal ni. Na ol bangla he hno cungkuem he ka saii.
And it came to pass at [the time of] the offering of the [evening] sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou [art] God in Israel, and [that] I [am] thy servant, and [that] I have done all these things at thy word.
37 Kai he n'doo lah, BOEIPA aw kai n'doo lah. Te daengah ni he pilnam loh nang Yahweh Pathen neh namah loh a hnuk la amih lungbuei na mael sak ham khaw a ming uh eh,” a ti nah.
Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that thou [art] the LORD God, and [that] thou hast turned their heart back again.
38 Te vaengah BOEIPA kah hmai suntla tih hmueihhlutnah neh thing khaw, lungto neh laipi khaw a hlawp tih tuilong kah tui te a laeh.
Then the fire of the LORD fell, and consumed the burnt-sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that [was] in the trench.
39 Pilnam cungkuem loh a hmuh vaengah a maelhmai dongla buluk uh tih, “Yahweh amah tah Pathen ni, Yahweh amah tah Pathen ni,” a ti uh.
And when all the people saw [it], they fell on their faces: and they said, The LORD, he [is] the God; the LORD, he [is] the God.
40 Elijah loh amih taengah, “Baal tonghma rhoek te tu uh, amih hlang te loeih boel saeh,” a ti nah. Amih te a tuuk uh phoeiah tah Elijah loh Kishon soklong la a suntlak puei tih pahoi a ngawn.
And Elijah said to them, Take the prophets of Baal; let not one of them escape. And they took them: and Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon, and slew them there.
41 Te phoeiah Elijah loh Ahab te, “Khonal tlanthim ol halo coeng. Te dongah cet laeh, ca lamtah o laeh,” a ti nah.
And Elijah said to Ahab, Go up, eat and drink; for [there is] a sound of abundance of rain.
42 Te dongah Ahab te caak ham neh ok hamla cet. Tedae Elijah tah Karmel som la luei. Te phoeiah diklai la kuisu uh tih a maelhmai te a khuklu neh a khuklu laklo ah a khueh.
So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees,
43 Te phoeiah amah kah a tueihyoeih te, “Cet laeh lamtah tuipuei longpuei ke paelki,” a ti nah. Cet tih a paelki phoeiah, “Pakhat khaw om pawh,” a ti nah dongah voei rhih hil, “Mael dae,” a ti nah.
And said to his servant, Go up now, look towards the sea. And he went up and looked, and said, [There is] nothing. And he said, Go again seven times.
44 A voei rhih dongla a pha vaengah tah, “Khomai ca, tuipuei lamloh hlang kut bangla ha luei ke,” a ti nah. Te dongah, “Cet lamtah Ahab te, 'Hlah uh lamtah suntla laeh. Te daengah ni nang te khonal loh n'khaih pawt eh?,” ti nah,’ a ti nah.
And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man's hand. And he said, Go up, say to Ahab, Prepare [thy chariot], and go down, that the rain may not hinder thee.
45 Rhaih, rhaih a om phoeiah tah vaan ah khomai hmuep tih khohli neh khonal tlanthim ha pawk. Ahab khaw a ngol neh Jezreel la cet.
And it came to pass in the mean while, that the heaven was black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. And Ahab rode, and went to Jezreel.

And the hand of the LORD was on Elijah; and he girded his loins, and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.
