1 Israel pum te Hebron kah David taengla tingtun uh tih, “Kaimih he na rhuh neh na saa ni he.

Then did all Israel gather themselves together to David, unto Hebron, saying, —Lo! thy bone and thy flesh, are we.

2 Hlaem hlavai kah na manghai Saul a om vaengah pataeng Israel te na vuenva puei tih na kunael puei. Te dongah ni na Pathen BOEIPA loh namah taengah, “Nang tah ka pilnam Israel na luem puei vetih nang he ka pilnam Israel soah rhaengsang la na om ni, ' a ti,” a ti na uh.

Moreover also, in time past even when Saul was king, thou, wast he that led out and brought in Israel, —and Yahweh thy God said unto thee, Thou, shalt shepherd my people Israel, Yea, thou, shalt be chief ruler, over my people Israel.

3 Israel kah a ham boeih khaw Hebron kah manghai taengla pawk uh tih David loh amih neh Hebron kah BOEIPA mikhmuh ah paipi a saii. Te phoeiah Samuel kut dongkah BOEIPA ol vanbangla David te Israel sokah manghai la a koelh uh.

Thus came all the elders of Israel unto the king, to Hebron, and David solemnised to them a covenant in Hebron, before Yahweh, —and they anointed David to be king over Israel, according to the word of Yahweh, through Samuel.

4 Te vaengah David neh Israel boeih tah Jebus Jerusalem la cet uh. Te khohmuen kah khosa rhoek tah Jebusi rhoek ni.

Then went David and all Israel to Jerusalem, the same, was Jebus, —where were the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land.

5 Te vaengah Jebus kah khosa rhoek loh David te, “Hela ha kun boeh,” a ti nah. Tedae David loh David khopuei kah Zion rhalvong te a rhawt pah.

And the inhabitants of Jebus said unto David, Thou shalt not come in hither, —But David captured the citadel of Zion, the same, is the city of David.

6 Te phoeiah David loh, “Lamhma la Jebusi aka ngawn boeih tah boeilu la, mangpa la om saeh,” a ti nah. Te dongah Zeruiah capa Joab te lamhma la cet tih boeilu la pahoi om van.

And David said, Whosoever smiteth the Jebusites, first, shall become a chief, and a ruler, —So then Joab son of Zeruiah, went up first, and became a chief.

7 David loh te kah rhalmahim ah kho a sak dongah ni David khopuei la a khue uh.

And David dwelt in the citadel, —for this cause, did they call it, The City of David.

8 Khopuei te a kaepvai kah vaikhap lamloh khotaeng khovai hil a thoh tih a caknoi khopuei te Joab loh a hing sak.

And he built the city round about, from Millo even as far as the circuit, —but, Joab, suffered the remainder of the city to live.

9 David te pongpa, pongpa tih a pantai vanbangla caempuei BOEIPA khaw anih taengah om.

Thus did David wax greater and yet greater, —and, Yahweh of Hosts, was with him.

10 He tah a ram khuiah anih aka duel David kah boeilu hlangrhalh rhoek neh Israel sokah BOEIPA ol bangla anih aka manghai sak Israel cungkuem rhoek coeng ni.

Now, these, are the chiefs of the heroes, that pertained to David, who held strongly with him in his kingdom, with all Israel, to make him king, —according to the word of Yahweh, concerning Israel.

11 David kah hlangrhalh hlangmi he tah sawmthum kah boeilu, rhalboei Hakhomi capa Jashobeam. Anih loh a caai te a haeng tih ya thum te voei khat la a rhokpam sak.

And, this, is the number of the heroes who pertained to David, —Jashobeam son of a Hachmonite, chief of the thirty, the same, brandished his spear over three hundred—slain at one time.

12 Anih hmatoeng ah Akhohi Dodo capa Eleazar. Anih khaw hlangrhalh pathum khuikah ni.

And, after him, was Eleazar son of Dodai, the Ahohite, —he, was among the three heroes;

13 Anih te Pasdammin ah khaw David taengah ni a. om. Te vaengah Philisti rhoek tah caemtloek la pahoi tingtun uh. Lohma kah khamyai te cangtun khawk om pueng dae pilnam tah Philisti mikhmuh lamloh rhaelrham uh.

he, was with David in Pas-dammim, where, the Philistines, were gathered together to battle, and there was a field-plot full of barley, —and, the people, fled, from before the Philistines;

14 Lohma li ah pai uh tih khohmuen te a huul uh. Te dongah Philisti te a ngawn uh vaengah khaw BOEIPA loh loeihnah a len neh a khang.

so they took their stand in the midst of the plot and rescued it, and smote the Philistines, —and Yahweh wrought a great victory.

15 Boeilu sawmthum lamkah pathum te Adullam lungko lungpang kah David taengla a suntlak uh vaengah Philisti caem tah Rephaim kol ah rhaeh uh.

And three of the thirty chiefs went down upon the rock, unto David, into the cave of Adullam, —a host of Philistines, being encamped in the vale of Rephaim.

16 David te rhalvong ah a om kuelhuelh vaengah Philisti khohung te Bethlehem ah om van.

Now, David, then was in the stronghold, —and, a garrison of Philistines, then was in Bethlehem.

17 David loh Bethlehem vongka kah tuito lamkah tui te a ngaidam, a ngaidam vaengah tah, “Kai he u long nim n'tul lah ve?” a ti.

And David longed, and said—Who will give me to drink of the water, out of the well of Bethlehem, that is within the gate?

18 Pathum long te Philisti rhaehhmuen te a va uh tih vongka taengkah Bethlehem tuito lamkah tui te a than uh. Te phoeiah a khuen uh tih David taengla pawk uh. Tedae David loh te te a ok ham huem pawt tih BOEIPA ham a suep.

And the three brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that was within the gate, and bare it, and brought it in unto David, —yet would not David drink it, but poured it out unto Yahweh;

19 Te phoeiah, “He saii ham he kamah lamkah khaw, ka Pathen taeng lamkah khaw savisava saeh. A hinglu te a kun puei uh coeng dongah hinglu dongkah hlang thii he a ka ok eh?” a ti. Te dongah hlangrhalh pathum loh a saii pah te ok hamla huem pawh.

and said—Far be it from me, of my God, that I should do this! The blood of these men, shall I drink, with their lives? For, with their lives, have they brought it! So he would not drink it. These things, did the three heroes.

20 Te vaengah Joab mana Abishai tah te rhoek pathum kah a lu la om. Anih loh a caai a haeng tih ya thum te a rhokpam sak. Te dongah pawt nim anih te pathum lakli ah ming a om.

And, Abishai brother of Joab—he, was the chief of three, he, having brandished his spear against three hundred—who were slain, —and so, he, had a name among three.

21 Pathum lakah khaw rhaep nit la a thangpom tih amih taengah mangpa la a om coeng dongah pathum lakli ah mop voel pawh.

Of the three in the second rank, was he honourable, therefore became he their captain, —though, unto the [first] three, did he not attain.

22 Kabzeel lamkah bisai aka ping, tatthai hlang capa, Jehoiada koca Benaiah loh Moab kah sathueng hlang rhoi te a tloek. Te phoeiah anih te vuelsong khohnin ah khaw suntla tih tangrhom khui kah sathueng te a ngawn bal.

Benaiah, son of Jehoiada, son of a man of valour, hero of many a deed, from Kabziel—he, smote the two [sons] of Ariel of Moab, he, also went down and smote a lion in the midst of a pit, in time of snow;

23 Anih loh Egypt hlang te khaw a ngawn. Tekah hlang te cungnueh ah dong nga lo. Egypt kut dongkah caai te hni tak kah tampai bangla om. Tedae anih te conghol neh a suntlak thil mai tih Egypt kut lamkah caai te a rhawth pah. Te phoeiah amah caai neh amah te a ngawn.

he, also smote an Egyptian, a man of [great] stature, five cubits, and, in the hand of the Egyptian, was a spear like a weaver’s beam, so he went down unto him with a staff, —and wrested the spear out of the hand of the Egyptian, and slew him with his spear.

24 He tlam he Jehoiada capa Benaiah loh a saii dongah ni anih te a ming khaw hlangrhalh pathum lakah a om.

These things, did Benaiah son of Jehoiada, so, he, had a name among three heroes.

25 Sawmthum lakah khaw anih te amah la thangpom coeng ne. Tedae pathum taengla a mop thai voel pawt dongah anih te David loh a taengom la a khueh.

Among the thirty, lo! honourable, was he, but, unto the [first] three, did he not attain, —howbeit David set him over his council.

26 Te vaengkah tatthai hlangrhalh rhoek tah Joab mana Asahel, Bethlehem lamkah Dodo capa Elhanan.

Now, the heroes of the forces, were, —Asahel, brother of Joab, Elhanan, son of Dodo, of Bethlehem;

27 Haroree Shammoth, Pelonee Helez.

Shammoth, the Harorite, Helez the Paltite;

28 Tekoa Ikkesh capa Ira, Anatoth Abiezer.

Ira, son of Ikkesh, the Tekoite, Abiezer, the Anathothite;

29 Khushathi Sibbekhai neh Akhohi Ilai.

Sibbecai, the Hushathite, Ilai, the Ahohite;

30 Netophah Maharai neh Netophah Baanah capa Heled.

Maharai, the Netophathite, Heled, son of Baanah, the Netophathite;

31 Benjamin koca Gibeah lamkah Ribai capa Ithai. Pirathon kah Benaiah.

Ithai, son of Ribai, of Gibeah, of the sons of Benjamin, —Benaiah, the Pirathonite;

32 Gaash soklong lamkah Hurai neh Arbahi Abiel.

Hurai, of the torrents of Gaash, Abiel the Arbathite;

33 Baharumi Azmaveth neh Shaalbin Eliaba.

Azmaveth, the Baharumite, Eliahba, the Shaalbonite;

34 Gizoni Hashem koca rhoek ah Harari Shagee capa Jonathan.

the sons of Hashem, the Gizonite, Jonathan, son of Shageh, the Hararite;

35 Harari Sakar capa Ahiam, Ur capa Eliphal.

Ahiam, son of Sacar, the Hararite, Eliphal, son of Ur;

36 Mekerathi Hepher neh Pelonee Ahijah.

Hepher, the Mecherathite, Ahijah the Pelonite;

37 Karmel Hezro neh Ezbai capa Naari.

Hezro, the Carmelite, Naarai, son of Ezbai;

38 Nathan mana Joel neh Hagri capa Mibhar.

Joel, brother of Nathan, Mibhar son of Hagri;

39 Ammoni Zelek neh Zeruiah capa Joab kah hno phuei Beroth Naharai.

Zelek, the Ammonite, —Naharai, the Berothite, the armour-bearer of Joab son of Zeruiah;

40 Yitha Ira neh Yitha Gareb.

Ira, the Ithrite, Gareb, the Ithrite;

41 Khitti Uriah neh Ahlai capa Zabad.

Uriah, the Hittite, Zabad son of Ahlai;

42 Reuben boeilu Reuben Shiza capa Adina neh a taengkah sawmthum.

Adina, son of Shiza, the Reubenite, a chief of the Reubenites and over the thirty;

43 Maakah capa Hanan neh Mithini Joshaphat.

Hanan, son of Maacah, and Joshaphat, the Mithnite;

44 Ashtrarity Uzzia, Shamma, Jeuel neh Jeiel. Arori Hotham koca rhoek.

Uzzia, the Ashterathite, —Shama, and Jeiel, sons of Hotham, the Aroerite;

45 Shimri capa Jediael neh a mana Tizi Joha.

Jediael, son of Shimri, and Joha, his brother, the Tizite;

46 Makhavim Eliel, Jeribai, Elnaam koca Joshavi, Moab Ithmah.

Eliel, the Mahavite, and Jeribai and Joshaviah, sons of Elnaam, —and Ithmah the Moabite;

47 Eliel, Obed neh Mezobah Jaasiel.

Eliel, and Obed, and Jaasiel, of Zobah.
