1 Philisti loh Israel te a vathoh thil dongah Israel hlang tah Philisti mikhmuh lamloh rhaelrham tih Gilboa tlang ah a rhok la cungku uh.
Now the Philistines fought against Israel; and the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and fell down slain on Mount Gilboa.
2 Philisti te Saul hnuk neh anih koca rhoek hnukah balak uh. Te dongah Philisti loh Saul koca rhoek Jonathan, Abinadab neh Malkhishua te a ngawn uh.
The Philistines followed hard after Saul and after his sons; and the Philistines killed Jonathan, Abinadab, and Malchishua, the sons of Saul.
3 Caemtloek rhoek khaw Saul kaepvai ah tah a saeng pah. Te dongah anih aka hmu rhoek loh lii neh a kah tih a kah bangla a pawlh pah.
The battle went hard against Saul, and the archers overtook him; and he was distressed by reason of the archers.
4 Te dongah Saul loh a hnopai aka phuei te, “Na cunghang te bong lamtah te nen te kai n'thun laeh. Pumdul rhoek he ha pawk uh vetih kai m'poelyoe uh ve,” a ti nah. Tedae a hno phuei long khaw bahoeng a rhih dongah ngaih pa pawh. Te dongah Saul loh cunghang te a loh tih a soah amah cungku uh.
Then Saul said to his armor bearer, “Draw your sword, and thrust me through with it, lest these uncircumcised come and abuse me.” But his armor bearer would not, for he was terrified. Therefore Saul took his sword and fell on it.
5 A hno phuei loh Saul a duek te a hmuh vaengah tah amah khaw cunghang dongah kaeh tih duek.
When his armor bearer saw that Saul was dead, he likewise fell on his sword and died.
6 Saul a duek phoeiah tah a ca rhoek pathum neh a imkhui pum khaw rhenten duek uh.
So Saul died with his three sons; and all his house died together.
7 Saul neh anih koca rhoek a duek te tuikol kah Israel hlang cungkuem loh a hmuh vaengah tah rhaelrham uh. Te vaengah amah khopuei te a hnoo uh tih rhaelrham uh. Te dongah Philisti rhoek ha pawk uh tih a khuiah kho a sak uh.
When all the men of Israel who were in the valley saw that they fled, and that Saul and his sons were dead, they abandoned their cities, and fled; and the Philistines came and lived in them.
8 A vuen ah rhok te lim hamla Philisti rhoek pawk uh. Te vaengah Gilboa tlang ah aka cungku Saul neh a ca rhoek te a hmuh uh.
On the next day, when the Philistines came to strip the slain, they found Saul and his sons fallen on Mount Gilboa.
9 Anih te a lim uh phoeiah a lu khaw, a hnopai te khaw a phueih pauh. Te phoeiah a muei neh pilnam te phong sak hamla Philisti kaepvai kah khohmuen tom la a tueih uh.
They stripped him and took his head and his armor, then sent into the land of the Philistines all around to carry the news to their idols and to the people.
10 A hnopai te amamih kah pathen im ah a khueh uh tih a luhong te Dagon im ah a ling uh.
They put his armor in the house of their gods, and fastened his head in the house of Dagon.
11 Philisti loh Saul taengah a saii boeih te Jabesh Gilead pum loh a yaak uh.
When all Jabesh Gilead heard all that the Philistines had done to Saul,
12 Te dongah tatthai hlang boeih tah thoo uh tih Saul rhok neh a ca rhoek kah rhok te a loh uh. Te rhoek te Jabesh la a pawk puei uh tih a rhuh te Jabesh kah rhokael hmuiah a up uh. Te vaengah hnin rhih a yaeh uh.
all the valiant men arose and took away the body of Saul and the bodies of his sons, and brought them to Jabesh, and buried their bones under the oak in Jabesh, and fasted seven days.
13 Saul he amah kah boekoeknah dongah ni a. duek. BOEIPA taengah boe a koek tih BOEIPA ol te a ngaithuen pawt dongah rhaitonghma te dawt ham a toem.
So Saul died for his trespass which he committed against the LORD, because of the LORD’s word, which he didn’t keep, and also because he asked counsel of one who had a familiar spirit, to inquire,
14 BOEIPA te a toem pawt dongah ni anih te a duek sak tih ram te Jesse capa David taengla a paek pah.
and didn’t inquire of the LORD. Therefore he killed him, and turned the kingdom over to David the son of Jesse.
