< Zephaniah 3 >
1 Mi pacaekthlaek, panuet thok moe, kamhnong vangpui loe khosak bing!
What disaster is coming to corrupted, rebellious Jerusalem, you who oppress people!
2 Jerusalem loe lok tahngai ai, amkhraih han thuih ih lok doeh talawk ai; anih loe Angraeng oephaih tawn ai, angmah ih Sithaw khaeah doeh anghnai ai.
You don't listen to anybody, you don't accept correction, you don't trust in the Lord, you don't ask for God's help.
3 Vangpui thungah kaom angmah ih ukkung angraengnawk loe kaipui baktiah hangh o, anih ih lokcaek kaminawk loe akhawnbang caak hanah ahuh kasuem ai, duembang ih tasuinawk baktiah oh o.
Your leaders are as greedy as roaring lions; your judges are ravenous wolves that leave nothing behind by morning.
4 Anih ih tahmaanawk loe poek kasang, aling kop kami ah oh o; anih ih qaimanawk loe ahmuen ciim to panuet thok ah sak o moe, Sithaw mah patuk ih lok to amro o sak.
Your prophets are arrogant, deceitful men who defile what is sacred and who openly break the law.
5 Toenghaih Angraeng loe anih salakah oh, anih loe katoeng ai hmuen tidoeh sah ai: akhawnbang kruek a toenghaih to amtuengsak; anih loe natuek naah doeh thazok ai; toe katoeng ai kami loe azathaih roe panoek ai.
But the Lord who does right is still among you, he does no wrong. Every morning he gives his judgment, every day without fail. But those who act unjustly have no shame.
6 Prae kaminawk to kam rosak boih boeh; nihcae ih misa buephaih tapangnawk doeh ka paro pae boeh; nihcae ih lampuinawk doeh ka paro pae moe, kaminawk caeh o ai boeh; vangpuinawk to ka phraek pae boeh pongah, kami om ai, anghmat kami mi doeh om ai.
I have destroyed nations. Their fortresses are deserted; their streets are empty; their cities are destroyed—there are no survivors, not one.
7 Kai mah, Vangpui khaeah kai hae zii ah loe, thuitaekhaih lok to talawk ah, tiah ka naa. Anih to ka thuitaek, toe a thungah kaom kaminawk loe kam rosak mak ai; toe nihcae loe khawnthaw ah angthawk o moe, a sak o ih hmuen baktih toengah, zaehaih a sak o let.
I told myself, “Surely they will respect me now and accept my correction. Then their homes would not be destroyed to teach them a lesson.” But instead you're just as eager to go on doing evil.
8 To pongah amrosak hanah kang thawkhaih ni khoek to, na zing oh, tiah Angraeng mah thuih. Kanung parai palungphuihaih nihcae nuiah ka kraih hanah, prae kaminawk boih, siangpahrang mah uk ih praenawk boih nawnto ka pakhueng han, tiah lok takroekhaih ka sak boeh, tiah thuih: to naah pauep thai ai palung ka phuihaih hmai mah long to kang boih tih.
You just wait, declares the Lord. The day is coming when I will rise to give evidence. For I have decided to gather together all the nations and kingdoms and to pour out on them my anger, my fury and my rage. The whole earth will be burned up by the fire of my jealous anger.
9 To pacoengah kaminawk khaeah kaciim lok to ka suek han, poekhaih maeto hoiah anih ih tok nawnto sak o hanah, nihcae boih mah Angraeng ih ahmin to kawk o tih.
For then I will give the nations pure speech so they can all pray and worship the Lord together.
10 Ethiopia ih tuipui yaeh hoiah kai bok kaminawk, ampraek phang ka canunawk mah, kai khaeah hmuen tathlanghaih to sin o tih.
From beyond the rivers of Ethiopia my scattered people, my worshipers, will come to bring their offerings to me.
11 To na niah loe ka koeh ai ih hmuen na sakpazae o ih hmuennawk boih pongah azathaih na tongh o mak ai boeh, nangcae amoekhaih pongah anghoe kaminawk to nangcae salak hoiah ka lak ving han, to naah loe kaciim kai ih mae ah nam oek o mak ai boeh.
On that day you won't be ashamed because of what you did in rebelling against me, for I will remove from among you those who are proud and boastful. Never again will you be conceited on my holy mountain.
12 Pacaekthlaek ih kami, amtang kaminawk to ka hum mak ai, nangcae salakah ka caeh taak han, to naah nihcae mah Angraeng ih ahmin to tang o tih.
I will leave among you those who are meek and humble, those who trust in the name of the Lord.
13 Kanghmat Israel kaminawk loe zaehaih sah o mak ai, lok amlai o mak ai; nihcae pakha ah lok amlaihaih hnu o mak ai: nihcae to caa o ueloe, mi doeh zithaih om ai ah khosah o tih boeh.
The people of Israel who remain will not act wickedly nor will they tell lies. They will not deceive one another. They will be able to eat in peace and sleep in safety for there will be nothing to frighten them.
14 Aw Zion canu, laa to sah ah; Aw Israel, tha hoi hang ah; Aw Jerusalem canu, na palungthin boih hoi oep ah loe, palung anghoesak ah.
Sing out, Jerusalem! Shout aloud, Israel! Jerusalem, be happy and celebrate with all your heart!
15 Na lokcaekhaih loe Angraeng mah boengsak boeh, anih mah na misa to haek boih boeh; Angraeng, Israel siangpahrang loe nangcae salakah oh: nangcae mah sethaih na hnu o mak ai boeh.
For the Lord has turned aside from punishing you, and he has turned back your enemies. The Lord, the king of Israel, is with you, and you will never again have to fear disaster.
16 To na niah Jerusalem khaeah, Zii hmah, Zion khaeah, Na ban to thahnaem hmah nasoe.
On that day the message to the people of Jerusalem will be, “Don't be afraid; don't be discouraged!”
17 Nangcae salakah kaom, Angraeng na Sithaw loe thacak; anih mah pahlong tih, anih loe oephaih hoi na nuiah anghoe tih; angmah ih amlunghaih hoiah nang to kamong ah omsak tih; laasakhaih hoiah na nuiah paroeai anghoe tih, tiah thuihaih to om tih.
The Lord your God is among you as a mighty warrior who saves. He will be so happy with you. He will renew his love for you. He will celebrate over you with loud singing.
18 Palungset hoi na ohhaih, nangcae han hmuenzit ah kaom pahnui thuih ih hmuennawk to ka boengsak han boeh.
I will gather those of you who mourn for the religious festivals—you will no longer have to bear the disgrace.
19 Khenah, to nathuem ah nangcae pacaekthlaek kaminawk to ka thuitaek boih han; khokkhaem kaminawk to ka pahlong moe, pakak ih kaminawk to nawnto kam khuengsak han; azathaih prae ah kaom kaminawk boih pakoehhaih hoi ahmin hoihhaih to ka paek han.
Look at what I am going to do! At that time I am going to deal with all those who have oppressed you. I will save those who are helpless and bring back those who were scattered, and I will turn their shame into praise, and all the world will respect them.
20 To naah kang hoih o let han, nangcae to kang tacuu naah kang hoih o let han: nangmacae mikhnuk ah misong thung hoiah kam laemsak let han, to naah long kaminawk boih salakah kahoih ahmin hoi saphawhaih to kang paek o han, nangmacae hma roe ah nangcae taham kang hoih o sak let naah, long kaminawk boih thungah tahamhoihaih hoi khingyahaih kang paek o han, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
At that time I will bring you home, gathering you together. I will give you a good reputation, and you will be praised by all the peoples of the earth when I restore your status before your very eyes, says the Lord.
