< Zephaniah 2 >
1 Aw koeh koi kaom ai acaeng, nawnto amkhueng oh, ue,
Bend yourselves, indeed, bend, O nation not desired,
2 nangcae loe lok takroekhaih atue pha ai, tavai baktiah takhoekhaih ni to pha ai, nangcae nuiah zit kaom Angraeng palungphuihaih pha ai vop moe, nangcae nuiah Angraeng palungphuihaih ni pha ai naah, nawnto amkhueng oh.
Before the bringing forth of a statute, The day has passed on as chaff, While the heat of the anger of YHWH has not yet come in on you, While [the] Day of the anger of YHWH has not yet come in on you,
3 Long ah kaom tuinom kahoih katawn kaminawk, anih toenghaih pazui kaminawk boih, Angraeng to pakrong oh; toenghaih to pakrong oh loe, tuinom hoihaih to pakrong oh, to tiah nahaeloe Angraeng palungphuihaih niah nangcae anghawkhaih ahmuen to na hnu o khoe doeh om tih.
Seek YHWH, all you humble of the land, Who have done His judgment, Seek righteousness, seek humility, It may be you are hidden in the Day of the anger of YHWH.
4 Gaza to pahnawt sut ueloe, Ashkelon to tahmat ving tih: athun naah Ashdod to pathok ueloe, Ekron to tangzun hoi nawnto aphong ving tih.
For Gaza is forsaken, And Ashkelon [is] for a desolation, Ashdod! At noon they cast her forth, And Ekron is rooted up.
5 Tuipui taengah kaom, Aw Kereth acaengnawk khosak na bing o! Nang loe Angraeng ih lok mah misa ah ang suek boeh: Aw Kanaan, Philistinnawk ih prae, nang to kang phraek han, to naah anghmat kami maeto doeh om mak ai.
Behold! O inhabitants of the seacoast, Nation of the Cherethites, A word of YHWH [is] against you, Canaan, land of the Philistines, “And I have destroyed you without an inhabitant.”
6 Tuipui taeng ih ahmuen loe, tuutoep kaminawk ohhaih ahmuen hoi tuunawk paunghaih ahmuen ah om tih.
And the seacoast has been habitations, Cottages [for] shepherds, and folds [for] a flock.
7 To ahmuen loe anghmat kami Judah imthung takoh mah toep o ueloe, to ah tuunawk to pacah o tih: Ashketon ih imthung takohnawk loe duembang ah angsong o tih: angmacae ih Angraeng Sithaw mah nihcae to khenzawn ueloe, nihcae misong ah ohhaih hoiah amlaem o let tih.
And the coast has been for the remnant of the house of Judah, By them they have pleasure, In houses of Ashkelon they lie down at evening, For their God YHWH inspects them, And He has turned back [to] their captivity.
8 Moab kaminawk kasae thuihaih hoi Ammon kaminawk pacaekthlaekhaih lok to ka thaih boeh, nihcae loe kai ih kaminawk to kasae thuih o moe, nihcae hoi prae angzit kaminawk hanah pazih o.
“I have heard the reproach of Moab, And the revilings of the sons of Ammon, With which they reproached My people, And magnify [themselves] against their border.
9 Kai ka hing pongah, Moab loe Sodom baktih, Ammon kaminawk loe Gomorrah baktiah om tih; nihcae loe soekhring kaom ahmuen, paloi takaehhaih ahmuen hoi taw thungah om o poe tih: kanghmat kai ih kaminawk mah nihcae to tuh o ueloe, kanghmat kai ih kaminawk mah nihcae ih prae to toep o tih, tiah misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng, Israel Sithaw mah thuih.
Therefore, [as] I live,” A declaration of YHWH of Hosts, God of Israel, “Surely Moab is as Sodom, And the sons of Ammon as Gomorrah, An overrunning of nettles and salt-pits, And a desolation for all time. A remnant of My people seizes them, And a remnant of My nation inherits them.”
10 Nihcae loe misatuh Angraeng ih kaminawk to kasae thuih o, zit kathok misa ah suek o pongah, nihcae amoekhaih atho ah hae hae hnu o tih.
This [is] to them for their arrogancy, Because they have reproached, And they magnify [themselves] against the people of YHWH of Hosts.
11 Anih mah long ah kaom sithawnawk boih to tidoeh na ai ah omsak ueloe, Angraeng loe nihcae han zit thok tih: kaminawk boih mah angmacae ohhaih ahmuen hoiah anih to pakoeh o tih.
Fearful [is] YHWH against them, For He made all gods of the land bare, And all islanders of the nations bow themselves to Him, Each from his place.
12 Nangcae Ethiopia kaminawk, nangcae doeh ka sumsen hoiah hum o tih.
“Also you, O Cushim, they [are] pierced of My sword.”
13 Anih ih ban loe aluek bangah phok tahang ueloe, Assyria to amrosak tih, Nineveh vangpui to pongsak sut ueloe, praezaek baktiah omsak tih.
And He stretches His hand against the north, And destroys Asshur, And He sets Nineveh for a desolation, A dry land like a wilderness.
14 Tuunawk loe a um ah tabok o ueloe, to ah moi congca om o tih: praezaek ih tui tavaa hoi bukbuhnawk loe vangpui ih tung nuiah acuk o tih, nihcae hanghaih lok loe thokbuem hoiah angthai tih; sidar thing hoi sak ih hmuen to khongkha taengah caeh o taak sut tih.
And droves have crouched in her midst, Every beast of the nation, Both pelican and hedgehog lodge in her knobs, A voice sings at the window, “Destruction [is] at the threshold, For the cedar-work is exposed.”
15 Hae loe kanawm acaeng vangpui ah oh, anih loe a palung thung hoiah, Kaimah boeh ni, kai pacoengah mi doeh om ai boeh, tiah thuih. Anih loe vaihi pongsut boeh moe, moinawk tabokhaih ahmuen ah oh ving boeh! Anih taeng ah caeh kaminawk boih mah pahnui o thuih ueloe, ban takhoek o thui tih.
This [is] the exulting city that is dwelling confidently, That is saying in her heart, “I [am], and there is none beside me,” How she has been for a desolation, A crouching-place for beasts, Everyone passing by her hisses, He shakes his hand!
