< Ruth 4 >
1 Boaz loe khongkha taengah caeh tahang moe, to ah anghnut. Khenah, anih mah thuih ih canawk maeto loe anih taengah angzoh, to naah Boaz mah, Aw ampui nang, angzoh loe, hae ah anghnu ah, tiah a naa. To pongah anih loe caeh moe, anghnut.
Then went Boaz up to the gate, and sat him down there: and, behold, the kinsman of whom Boaz spoke came by; unto whom he said, Ho, such a one! turn aside, sit down here. And he turned aside, and sat down.
2 Boaz mah vangpui thung ih kacoehtanawk hato hoih moe, Hae ah anghnu o raeh, tiah a naa. A thuih ih baktih toengah nihcae doeh anghnut o.
And he took ten men of the elders of the city, and said, Sit all of you down here. And they sat down.
3 To naah a canawk khaeah, Moab prae hoiah amlaem let, Naomi mah aicae amya Elimalek ih lawk hmuen to a zawh;
And he said unto the kinsman, Naomi, that has come again out of the country of Moab, sells a parcel of land, which was our brother Elimelech's:
4 nang kang thaisak hanah angaih, tiah ka poek; hae ah anghnu kaminawk hoi kai ih kacoehtanawk hmaa ah na qan han oh. Akrang han na koeh nahaeloe akrang ah; toe na krang han koeh ai nahaeloe, na panoeksak ah; nang khue ai ah loe mi doeh hae ahmuen hae akrang mak ai; kai loe nang pacoengah ni ka oh vop, tiah a naa. Anih mah, Ka krang han hmang, tiah a naa.
And I thought to advertise you, saying, Buy it before the inhabitants, and before the elders of my people. If you will redeem it, redeem it: but if you will not redeem it, then tell me, that I may know: for there is none to redeem it beside you; and I am after you. And he said, I will redeem it.
5 To naah Boaz mah, Naomi khae ih lawk hmuen na qan na niah, kadueh kami ih hmuen hoi anih ih ahmin panoek poe thai hanah, anih ih zu Moab nongpata Ruth to doeh na qan han oh, tiah a naa.
Then said Boaz, What day you buy the field of the hand of Naomi, you must buy it also of Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of the dead, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance.
6 To naah angmah ih canawk mah, Kaimah hanah long ka krang thai mak ai; ka krang nahaeloe kaimah ih qawk to kam rosak moeng tih; to pongah nangmah taham ah nang mah akrang halat ah, tiah a naa.
And the kinsman said, I cannot redeem it for myself, lest I ruin mine own inheritance: redeem you my right to yourself; for I cannot redeem it.
7 Canghniah Israel kaminawk mah, hmuen akranghaih hoi anglaihaih kawng pongah, hmuen boih caksak hanah, kami maeto mah angmah ih khokpanai to angkhring moe, kalah maeto khaeah paek: hae tiah Israel kaminawk salakah a sak o.
Now this was the manner in former time in Israel concerning redeeming and concerning changing, in order to confirm all things; a man plucked off his shoe, and gave it to his neighbour: and this was a testimony in Israel.
8 To pongah a canawk ah kaom kami mah Boaz khaeah, Nangmah hanah qan ah, tiah a naa. To naah anih mah angmah ih khokpanai to angkhring.
Therefore the kinsman said unto Boaz, Buy it for you. So he drew off his shoe.
9 To naah Boaz mah kacoehtanawk hoi kaminawk boih hmaa ah, Kai mah, vaihniah Naomi ih ban khae hoiah, Elimelek, Kilion hoi Mahlon ih lawk hmuen hae ka qan boeh, tiah nangcae loe panoekkung ah na oh o.
And Boaz said unto the elders, and unto all the people, All of you are witnesses this day, that I have bought all that was Elimelech's, and all that was Chilion's and Mahlon's, of the hand of Naomi.
10 Mahlon ih zu, Moab tanuh Ruth doeh ka zu ah oh hanah ka qan boeh; kadueh kami ih hmuen loe angmah ih ahmin hoiah om poe ueloe, anih ih nawkamya thung hoiah maw, a ohhaih khongkha thung hoiah maw ahmin to anghmasak mak ai: vaihniah nangcae loe hnukung ah na oh o boeh, tiah a naa.
Moreover Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of Mahlon, have I purchased to be my wife, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance, that the name of the dead be not cut off from among his brethren, and from the gate of his place: all of you are witnesses this day.
11 To naah khongkha ah kaom kacoehtanawk hoi kaminawk boih mah, Kaicae loe hnukung ah ka oh o, tiah a thuih o. Angraeng mah na im ah angzo nongpata to Israel imthung takoh padoekung, Rachel hoi Leah baktiah omsak nasoe; nang loe Ephrathah ah khet kamcuk ah omh loe, Bethlehem ah ahmin amthang nasoe.
And all the people that were in the gate, and the elders, said, We are witnesses. The LORD make the woman that has come into your house like Rachel and like Leah, which two did build the house of Israel: and do you worthily in Ephratah, and be famous in Bethlehem:
12 Hae saning kanawk nongpata khaeah, Angraeng mah ang paek han ih atii hoiah na caanawk loe, Judah kami Tamar mah tapen ih, Perez acaeng baktiah na imthung takoh ah om nasoe, tiah a naa o.
And let your house be like the house of Pharez, whom Tamar bare unto Judah, of the seed which the LORD shall give you of this young woman.
13 Boaz mah Ruth to lak moe, anih ih zu ah oh; anih loe a zu khaeah caeh moe, Angraeng mah a zu to zokpomsak pongah, ca nongpa maeto a sak.
So Boaz took Ruth, and she was his wife: and when he went in unto her, the LORD gave her conception, and she bare a son.
14 Nongpatanawk mah Naomi khaeah, Nang akrangkung canawk apet ai ah omsakkung, Angraeng ahmin pakoehhaih om nasoe; nawkta ih ahmin loe Israel kaminawk thungah ahmin amthang nasoe.
And the women said unto Naomi, Blessed be the LORD, which has not left you this day without a kinsman, that his name may be famous in Israel.
15 Anih loe na hinghaih angthasak let kami, na mitong naah nang khenzawnkung ah om nasoe; capa sarihtonawk pongah doeh, na langah mah nang to ang palung kue, anih mah capa maeto tapen boeh, tiah a naa o.
And he shall be unto you a restorer of your life, and a nourisher of your old age: for your daughter in law, which loves you, which is better to you than seven sons, has born him.
16 To naah Naomi mah nawkta to tapom moe, a khetzawn.
And Naomi took the child, and laid it in her bosom, and became nurse unto it.
17 To ah kaom a imtaeng ih nongpatanawk mah, Naomi mah capa maeto sak, tiah a thuih o pongah, nawkta ih ahmin to Obed, tiah phui o; anih loe Jesse ampa ah oh; Jesse loe David ampa ah oh.
And the women her neighbours gave it a name, saying, There is a son born to Naomi; and they called his name Obed: he is the father of Jesse, the father of David.
18 Hae loe Perez ih caanawk ah oh, Perez mah Hezron to sak,
Now these are the generations of Pharez: Pharez brings forth Hezron,
19 Hezron mah Ram to sak moe, Ram mah Amminadab to sak,
And Hezron brings forth Ram, and Ram brings forth Amminadab,
20 Amminadab mah Nahshon to sak moe, Nashon mah Salmon to sak,
And Amminadab brings forth Nahshon, and Nahshon brings forth Salmon,
21 Salmon mah Boaz to sak moe, Boaz mah Obed to sak,
And Salmon brings forth Boaz, and Boaz brings forth Obed,
22 Obed mah Jesse to sak moe, Jesse mah David to sak.
And Obed brings forth Jesse, and Jesse brings forth David.
