< Rom 11 >

1 To tih nahaeloe, Sithaw mah angmah ih kaminawk to pahnawt sut boeh maw? Pahnawt sut ai, tiah ka thuih. Kai doeh Israel acaeng maeto ah ka oh, Abraham ih atii ah ka oh moe, Benzamin acaeng ah ni ka oh toeng.
I say, then, Did God cast away His people? let it not be! for I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin:
2 Sithaw loe angmah panoek coek ih angmah ih kaminawk to pahnawt sut ai. Elijah mah, Cabu thungah Israel kaminawk koeh ai amtuengsak hanah Sithaw khaeah khawbangmaw lawk a thuih, tito na panoek o ai maw?
God did not cast away His people whom He knew before; have ye not known — in Elijah — what the Writing saith? how he doth plead with God concerning Israel, saying,
3 Anih mah, Angraeng, nang ih tahmaanawk to a hum o, nang bokhaih imnawk doeh a phraek o; kaimah bueng ni anghmat boeh, kai doeh hum han ang pakrong o, tiah thuih.
'Lord, Thy prophets they did kill, and Thy altars they dug down, and I was left alone, and they seek my life;'
4 Toe Sithaw mah anih khaeah kawbangmaw lok pathim pae? Sakcop ih krang Baal hmaa ah khokkhu cangkrawn ai kaimah hanah pahoe ih kami sang sarihto oh o vop, tiah a naa.
but what saith the divine answer to him? 'I left to Myself seven thousand men, who did not bow a knee to Baal.'
5 To baktih toengah vaihi doeh a tahmenhaih rang hoiah qoih ih anghmat kami maeto oh vop.
So then also in the present time a remnant according to the choice of grace there hath been;
6 Tahmenhaih rang hoiah om nahaeloe, toksakhaih rang hoiah om mak ai boeh: to tih ai nahaeloe tahmenhaih loe tahmenhaih ah om mak ai. Toe toksakhaih rang hoiah ni om nahaeloe, tahmenhaih hoiah om mak ai boeh: to tih ai nahaeloe toksakhaih loe toksakhaih ah om mak ai.
and if by grace, no more of works, otherwise the grace becometh no more grace; and if of works, it is no more grace, otherwise the work is no more work.
7 To tih nahaeloe kawbangmaw oh boeh? Pakrong ih hmuen to Israel mah hnu ai: qoih ih kami mah ni hnuk, kalah kaminawk loe mikmaeng o,
What then? What Israel doth seek after, this it did not obtain, and the chosen did obtain, and the rest were hardened,
8 (Sithaw mah iih angmuethaih muithla, hnuk han ai ih mik, thaih han ai ih naa to nihcae khaeah paek; ) tiah tarik ih Cabu loe vaihni ah akoep boeh.
according as it hath been written, 'God gave to them a spirit of deep sleep, eyes not to see, and ears not to hear,' — unto this very day,
9 David mah doeh, Nihcae ih caboi loe nihcae hanah, dongh, thaang, amthaekhaih hoi a sak o ih baktiah pathok let ih hmuen ah om nasoe:
and David saith, 'Let their table become for a snare, and for a trap, and for a stumbling-block, and for a recompense to them;
10 nihcae mah hnuk o thaih han ai ah, mik amtueng pae hmah nasoe loe, kaengkuu o poe nasoe, tiah thuih.
let their eyes be darkened — not to behold, and their back do Thou always bow down.'
11 To tih nahaeloe, nihcae loe angthawk thai ai khoek to amthaek o boeh maw? tiah ka thuih, To tiah om ai: nihcae utsak hanah, nihcae amtimh o pongah ni Gentelnawk khaeah pahlonghaih to phak.
I say, then, Did they stumble that they might fall? let it not be! but by their fall the salvation [is] to the nations, to arouse them to jealousy;
12 Vaihi nihcae amtimhaih loe long angraenghaih ah oh lat boeh, nihcae mah pathlong ih hmuen to Gentelnawk angraenghaih ah om nahaeloe, nihcae akoephaih mah cae loe nazetto maw angraenghaih omsak aep tih?
and if the fall of them [is] the riches of a world, and the diminution of them the riches of nations, how much more the fulness of them?
13 Kai loe Gentelnawk hanah patoeh ih kami ah ka oh baktih toengah, nangcae Gentelnawk khaeah lok kang thuih o:
For to you I speak — to the nations — inasmuch as I am indeed an apostle of nations, my ministration I do glorify;
14 kawbangah doeh taksa ah kaimah ih kaminawk to utsak moe, nihcae thung ih thoemto kaminawk ka pahlong thai hanah, ka sak ih tok to kam oek haih.
if by any means I shall arouse to jealousy mine own flesh, and shall save some of them,
15 Nihcae pahnawt suthaih to long angdaeh lethaih ah om nahaeloe, nihcae talawkhaih mah cae loe, duekhaih thung hoi kahing baktiah na ai maw om tih?
for if the casting away of them [is] a reconciliation of the world, what the reception — if not life out of the dead?
16 Naep hmaloe ih takaw to ciim nahaeloe, takaw loe ciim boih; tangzun to ciim nahaeloe, tanghangnawk doeh ciim o.
and if the first-fruit [is] holy, the lump also; and if the root [is] holy, the branches also.
17 Nangcae loe, taw ih Olive thing ah na oh o, thoemto tanghangnawk loe angkhaeh o ving boeh pongah, nangcae to Olive thing nuiah pacong ah oh, to tiah Olive thing ih tangzun hoi athawk nawnto caak angbom kami ah na oh o nahaeloe,
And if certain of the branches were broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wast graffed in among them, and a fellow-partaker of the root and of the fatness of the olive tree didst become —
18 angkhaek tanghangnawk to amoek o thuih hmah. Nam oek o thuih nahaeloe, nangcae mah tangzun to tha na paek o ai, tangzun mah ni nangcae han tha ang paek o, tito panoek oh.
do not boast against the branches; and if thou dost boast, thou dost not bear the root, but the root thee!
19 Kai pacong hanah ni, to tanghangnawk to khaeh ving, tiah na poek doeh om tih.
Thou wilt say, then, 'The branches were broken off, that I might be graffed in;' right!
20 Na poekhaih loe hoih; tang ai pongah nihcae loe angkhaeh o, nangcae loe tanghaih hoiah nang doet o. Toe poeksang o hmah, zithaih palungthin to tawn oh:
by unbelief they were broken off, and thou hast stood by faith; be not high-minded, but be fearing;
21 tanghang tangtangnawk mataeng doeh Sithaw mah paquem ai nahaeloe, nangcae doeh paquem mak ai.
for if God the natural branches did not spare — lest perhaps He also shall not spare thee.
22 To pongah Sithaw hoihhaih hoi kanung parai danpaekhaih to poek oh: amtimh kaminawk nuiah, kanung parai danpaekhaih to oh; toe nangcae khaeah loe hoihaih to oh, anih hoihhaih thungah na oh o poe nahaeloe, nangcae khaeah hoihhaih to om poe tih, to tih ai nahaeloe nangcae doeh pakhruh ving tih.
Lo, then, goodness and severity of God — upon those indeed who fell, severity; and upon thee, goodness, if thou mayest remain in the goodness, otherwise, thou also shalt be cut off.
23 Nihcae doeh tanghaih tawn o nahaeloe, to akung ah pacong toeng tih: Sithaw mah nihcae to akung ah pacong let thaih.
And those also, if they may not remain in unbelief, shall be graffed in, for God is able again to graff them in;
24 Nangcae loe taw ih olive thing to pakhruk moe, tling ih kahoih olive thing pongah pacong ih tanghang ah na oh o nahaeloe, angmacae ih Olive thing tangtang nuiah cae loe hae tanghang tangtangnawk hae, kawkruk maw pacong thai aep tih?
for if thou, out of the olive tree, wild by nature, wast cut out, and, contrary to nature, wast graffed into a good olive tree, how much rather shall they, who [are] according to nature, be graffed into their own olive tree?
25 Nawkamyanawk, Gentelnawk akoephaih ni pha ai karoek to thoemto Israelnawk loe palung maeng o, tiah thuih ih hae lok tamqu hae panoek ai ah ohsak han kang koeh o haih ai, to tih ai nahaeloe nangmacae aling hanah nangmacae mikhnuk ah palungha kami ah na om o moeng tih.
For I do not wish you to be ignorant, brethren, of this secret — that ye may not be wise in your own conceits — that hardness in part to Israel hath happened till the fulness of the nations may come in;
26 Israelnawk boih pahlong ah om o tih: loisakkung loe Zion hoiah angzo ueloe, Jakob acaeng Sithaw panoek ai ah khosakhaih to anghmasak tih;
and so all Israel shall be saved, according as it hath been written, 'There shall come forth out of Sion he who is delivering, and he shall turn away impiety from Jacob,
27 nihcae zaehaihnawk to ka takhoe pae han, hae loe nihcae khaeah ka sak ih lokmaihaih ah oh, tiah tarik ih oh.
and this to them [is] the covenant from Me, when I may take away their sins.'
28 Nangcae khaeah tamthanglok hoih phak thai hanah, Israelnawk loe Sithaw ih misa ah oh o: toe qoihhaih bangah loe, ampanawk rang hoiah nihcae loe Sithaw mah palung ih kami ah oh o.
As regards, indeed, the good tidings, [they are] enemies on your account; and as regards the choice — beloved on account of the fathers;
29 Sithaw loe a paek ih tangqum hoi a kawk ih kaminawk nuiah poek amkhraihaih tawn ai.
for unrepented of [are] the gifts and the calling of God;
30 Nangcae doeh canghniah loe Sithaw ih lok na tahngai o ai, toe nihcae mah lok tahngai o ai pongah ni nangcae mah vaihi palungnathaih to na hnuk o:
for as ye also once did not believe in God, and now did find kindness by the unbelief of these:
31 nangcae khaeah amtuengsak ih palungnathaih rang hoiah nihcae mah palungnathaih hnuk o toeng hanah, nihcae loe vaihi lok tahngai o ai boeh.
so also these now did not believe, that in your kindness they also may find kindness;
32 Sithaw mah kami boih nuiah palungnathaih tawnh thai hanah, kami boih lok tahngai ai ah ohsak. (eleēsē g1653)
for God did shut up together the whole to unbelief, that to the whole He might do kindness. (eleēsē g1653)
33 Aw, Sithaw palunghahaih hoi panoekhaih loe kawkruk maw kawk moe len! A lokcaekhaih loe mi mah doeh panoek thai ai, a caehhaih loklamnawk to pakrong khing caedoeh hnu thai ai!
O depth of riches, and wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable His judgments, and untraceable His ways!
34 Angraeng poekhaih panoek mi maw kaom? To tih ai boeh loe mi maw Anih han poekhaih kahoih paekkung ah kaom?
for who did know the mind of the Lord? or who did become His counsellor?
35 To tih ai boeh loe Anih mah pathok let hanah mi mah maw Anih hanah hmuen paek vaih?
or who did first give to Him, and it shall be given back to him again?
36 Hmuennawk boih loe Anih ih ni, Anih rang hoiah a oh o moe, Anih han ih ni a oh o; lensawkhaih loe Angmah khaeah dungzan ah om poe nasoe! Amen. (aiōn g165)
because of Him, and through Him, and to Him [are] the all things; to Him [is] the glory — to the ages. Amen. (aiōn g165)
