< Saam 73 >
1 Asaph ih Saam laa. Sithaw loe poekciim kami hoi Israelnawk nuiah hoih tangtang.
“BOOK III. A psalm of Asaph.” Truly God is good to Israel, —To those who are pure in heart.
2 Toe ka khok loe amthaek tom boeh; kang doethaih ahmuen angthuih tom boeh.
Yet my feet almost gave way; My steps had well nigh slipped:
3 Poeksae kaminawk mah hnuk o ih tahamhoihaih to ka hnuk naah, amthu kaminawk to ka khit moeng boeh.
For I was envious of the proud, When I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
4 Nihcae loe duek naah patangkhang o ai; ngantui o moe, thacak o.
For they have no pains even to their death; Their bodies are in full health.
5 Nihcae loe minawk kalah baktiah raihaih panoek o ai; minawk baktiah patang o ai.
They have not the woes of other men, Neither are they smitten like other men.
6 To pongah amoekhaih to bungmu baktiah a oih o; pacaekthlaekhaih to khukbuen baktiah angkhuk o.
Therefore pride encircleth their neck as a collar; Violence covereth them as a garment.
7 Hmuenmae hoi angraeng o pongah, nihcae ih mik loe tasa bangah tacawt dok; nihcae loe palung thung hoi poek ih hmuen pongah kamthlai ah koeh o.
From their bosom issueth their iniquity; The designs of their hearts burst forth.
8 Nihcae mah kahoih ai pacaekthlaekhaih to pahnuih o thuih; amoekhaih lok apaeh o.
They mock, and speak of malicious oppression; Their words are haughty;
9 Nihcae loe pakha hoiah vannawk to kasae thuih o moe, palai to long pum ah amkaeh o sak.
They stretch forth their mouth to the heavens, And their tongue goeth through the earth;
10 To pongah Sithaw mah angmah ih kaminawk to amlaemsak let moe, a paek ih tui to kamhah ah naek o.
Therefore his people walk in their ways, And there drink from full fountains.
11 Nihcae mah, Kawbangmaw Sithaw mah panoek tih? Kasang koek ah kaom loe panoekhaih tawnh maw? tiah thuih o.
And they say, “How doth God know? How can there be knowledge with the Most High?”
12 Khenah, Sithaw panoek ai kaminawk loe hae tiah oh o; nihcae loe long nuiah khosak hoih o moe, angraeng o aep aep.
Behold these are the ungodly! Yet they are ever prosperous; they heap up riches.
Verily I have cleansed my heart in vain; In vain have I washed my hands in innocence.
For every day have I been smitten; Every morn have I been chastened.
If I should resolve to speak like them, Surely I should be treacherous to the family of thy children.
16 Hae hmuen hae kawbangmaw ka panoek thaih han, tiah ka poek naah, kai hanah loe panoek han rai parai hmuen ah oh;
So, when I studied to know this, It was painful to my eyes;
17 hnukkhuem ah loe Sithaw ih hmuenciim thungah ka phak, to naah ni to hmuennawk boenghaih to ka panoek thai vop.
Until I went into the sanctuaries of God, And considered what was their end.
18 Tangtang thuih nahaeloe nang mah ni nihcae to kamnae ahmuen ah na suek moe, nihcae to amrohaih thungah na vah.
Behold! thou hast set them on slippery places; Thou castest them down into unseen pits.
19 Nihcae loe kawbangmaw, nawnetta thungah amro o halat! Hnukkhuem ah loe zitthok hmuen mah nihcae to paduek boih boeh.
How are they brought to desolation in a moment, And utterly consumed with sudden destruction!
20 Kami mah angthawk naah amang to poek baktih toengah, Aw Angraeng, nang thawk tahang naah, nihcae poekhaih to tiah doeh sah pae hmah.
As a dream when one awaketh, Thou, O Lord! when thou awakest, wilt make their vain show a derision.
21 To tiah palung ka nat moe, ka poekhaih anghmang sut.
When my heart was vexed And I was pierced in my reins,
Then was I stupid and without understanding; I was like one of the brutes before thee.
Yet am I ever under thy care; By my right hand thou dost hold me up.
Thou wilt guide me with thy counsel, And at last receive me in glory.
25 Nang ai ah loe van ah ka tawnh ih mi maw oh vop? Nang pacoengah loe long nuiah ka koeh ih mi doeh om ai.
Whom have I in heaven but thee, And whom on earth do I love in comparison with thee?
Though my flesh and my heart fail, God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.
27 Khenah, nang hoi angthla kaminawk loe amro o boih tih; nang khae hoi amkhraeng moe, oep om ai ah khosah kaminawk loe nam rosak boih tih.
For, lo! they who are far from thee perish; Thou destroyest all who estrange themselves from thee.
But it is good for me to draw near to God; I put my trust in the Lord Jehovah, That I may declare all thy works.
