< Saam 55 >
1 Katoeng kruek zaehoikung hanah. Neginoth ah sak han koi, David ih masakil. Aw Sithaw, lawk ka thuihaih hae tahngai ah; tahmen kang hnikhaih hoi angqoi taak hmah.
God, listen to my prayer, and do not turn away from me while I am pleading with you.
2 Na tahngai pae ah loe pathim ah: poek anghmang sut moe,
Listen to me, and answer me, because I am overwhelmed by [all] my troubles.
3 ka misa ih lok hoi kasae kaminawk ih pacaekthlaekhaih pongah, ka hang khing boeh; nihcae loe a sakpazae o haih to ka nuiah amtik o, kai palung ang phui o thuih moe, ang hnukma o.
My enemies cause me to be terrified; wicked people oppress me. They cause me to have great troubles; they are angry with me, and they hate me.
4 Ka palung loe athung ah patangkhang; duek zithaih mah ang kraeng khoep boeh.
I am terrified, and I am very much afraid that I will die.
5 Ka nuiah zithaih hoi tasoehhaih to phak moe, kai loe zithaih mah muek khoep boeh.
I am very fearful and I tremble/shake, and I am completely terrified.
6 To naah, Aw pahuu baktiah pakhraeh ka tawnh soe nahaeloe, kangthla ah ka zawk moe, amding rue ah ka oh han boeh!
I said, “I wish that I had wings like a dove! If I had wings, I would fly away and find a place to rest.
7 Khenah, kangthla ah kam het moe, praezaek ah ka oh ving han. (Selah)
I would fly far away and live in the desert.
8 Takhi pui hoi takhi sae to loih hanah, karangah ka cawnh han, tiah ka thuih.
I would quickly find a shelter from [my enemies] [who are like] [MET] a strong wind and rainstorm.”
9 Aw Angraeng, nihcae amrosak hanah, lok to anghmangsak ah; vangpui thungah lokpunghaih hoi angzoehhaih to ka hnuk boeh.
Lord, confuse my enemies, and cause their plans to fail, because I see them acting violently and causing strife in the city [of Jerusalem].
10 Nihcae loe aqum athun sipae taengah caeh o; athung ah loe kahoih ai hmuen sakhaih hoi qahhaih to oh.
During [each] day and night they march around on top of its walls, committing crimes and causing trouble.
11 Kasae sakhaih vangpui thungah oh o, lampuinawk ah kaom pacaekthlaekhaih hoi alinghaih loe boeng thai ai boeh.
They destroy [things] everywhere. They oppress and defraud [people] in the (marketplaces/public squares).
12 Kai pahnui thuih kami loe kai ih misa na ai ni, kai ih misa ah om cadoeh ka pauep thai tih; angmah hoi angmah amkoeh moe, kai hnuma kami doeh kai ih misa na ai ni, kai ih misa ah om nahaeloe, anih to ka yae ving han:
If it were an enemy who was making fun of me, I could endure it. If it were someone who hates me, who despises me, I could hide from him.
13 to kami loe, kai hoi kanghmong, kam pui, ampui kangzong ah kaom, nang ni.
But it is someone who is just like me, my companion, someone who was my friend [who is doing this to me].
14 Kaicae loe kahoih lok to ka thuih o moe, kaminawk hoi nawnto Sithaw im ah ka caeh o.
We previously had many good talks together; we walked around together in God’s temple.
15 Sethaih loe nihcae ohhaih ahmuen, nihcae salakah oh pongah, nihcae to duekhaih mah naeh nasoe loe, hell thungah kahingah caeh o nasoe. (Sheol )
I desire/hope that my enemies will die suddenly; while they are still young, cause them to go down to the place where the dead people are. They they think evil things. (Sheol )
16 Toe kai loe, Sithaw to ka kawk han; Angraeng mah na pahlong tih.
But I [will] ask Yahweh, [my] God, to help me, and he will save me.
17 Duembang, akhawnbang hoi athun ah, lawkthuihaih hoiah ka hangh; to naah anih mah ka lok na thaih pae tih.
[Each] morning and [each] noontime and [each] evening I tell him what I am concerned about, and I moan, and he hears my voice.
18 Kai tuh kami loe pop o parai pognah, kai ang tuk o naah, anih mah monghaih hoiah ka hinghaih ang pahlong.
I have [very] many enemies, but he will rescue me and bring me back safely from the battles that I fight.
19 Canghnii hoiah kaom poe Sithaw mah thaih naah, nihcae to pacaekthlaek tih. (Selah) Nihcae loe amkhraihaih om ai pongah, Sithaw zii o ai.
God is the one who has ruled everything forever, and he will listen to me. He will cause my enemies to be [defeated and] disgraced, because they do not change their evil behavior and they do not revere God.
20 To baktih kami loe a thuih ih lok baktiah om ai, angmah hoi angdaeh ampui to misa ah suek.
My companion, [whom I mentioned previously], betrayed his friends and broke the agreement that he made with them.
21 Pakha hoi tacawt a thuih ih loknawk loe samdai baktiah amnae, toe palung thungah loe misatuk han ih khue ni a poek; a lok loe moithawk pongah naem kue, toe nihcae loe sumsen hoi kami hum hanah oh o coek.
What he said was [easy to listen to, like] butter [is easy to swallow] [MET], but in his inner being he hated people; his words were [soothing] like [olive] oil, [but they hurt people like] sharp swords do [MET].
22 Nangmah ih hmuenzit to Angraeng khaeah amtii ah, anih mah na bomh tih; katoeng kami loe natuek naah doeh amtimsak mak ai.
Put your troubles in Yahweh’s hands, and he will take care of you; he will never allow righteous [people] to experience disasters.
23 Toe Aw Sithaw, nang mah nihcae to tangqom thungah pakhrah tih; athii anghae kami hoi aling thaih kaminawk loe, a hing o haih ahap mataeng doeh hing o mak ai; toe kai loe, nang khaeah ni ka buep han.
God, you will cause murderers [MTY] and liars to die before they have lived half as long as they expect to live; but [as for me], I will trust in you.
