1 David ih Saam laa. Angraeng loe ka hmaithaw hoi ka pahlonghaih ah oh; mi maw ka zit han vop? Angraeng loe ka hinghaih tha ah oh, mi maw ka zit bae han vop?
A psalm of David. The Lord is my light and my saviour; whom then should I fear? The Lord protects my life; whom then should I dread?
2 Ka ngan caak hanah, kasae kaminawk kai khaeah angzoh o naah, amthaek o moe, amtimh o.
When the wicked drew near to assail me and eat up my flesh, it was those who distressed and opposed me who stumbled and fell.
3 Misatuh kaminawk mah na takui o khoep cadoeh, ka palung mah zithaih tawn mak ai: misatuk han angzo o cadoeh, angoephaih palungthin to ka tawnh.
Though against me a host should encamp, yet my heart would be fearless: though battle should rise up against me, still would I be trustful.
4 Angraeng kranghoihaih to ka hnuk moe, anih ih tempul thungah ka oh pacoengah, ka hing thung Angraeng imthung ah ka oh thai hanah, ka koeh ih hmuen maeto Angraeng khaeah ka hnik boeh.
One thing have I asked of the Lord, and that do I long for – To live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the grace of the Lord and inquire in his temple.
5 Raihaih phak naah anih mah angmah ih im ah kai na buepsak tih: angmah ih kahni imthung ah na hawk ueloe, lungsong nuiah anghnusak tih.
For he will hide me in his shelter in the day of misfortune. In his sheltering tent he hides me: he lifts me up on a rock.
6 Vaihi kai takui khoep ka misanawk nuiah ka lu hae atoeng tahang tih: to pongah angmah ih kahni imthung ah anghoe angbawnhaih to ka sak han: laa ka sak han, ue, Angraeng khaeah pakoehhaih laa to ka sak han.
And now that my head he has lifted above my encircling foes, I will march round the altar and sacrifice, shouting with joy, in his tent, making music and song to the Lord.
7 Aw Angraeng, kang kawkhaih lok hae na pathim paeh: na tahmen ah loe na pathim pae raeh.
Hear, O Lord, my loud cry, and graciously answer me.
8 Ka krang hae pakrong oh, tiah na thuih naah, ka palung mah nang khaeah, Angraeng, na krang ni ka pakrong han, tiah thuih.
My heart has said to you, ‘Your face, O Lord, I seek.’
Hide not your face from me, reject not your servant in anger: for you have been my help. Abandon me not, nor forsake me, O God of my help:
10 Kam pa hoi kam no mah kai pahnawt sut naah, Angraeng mah kai na talawk tih.
for father and mother have left me; but the Lord will take me up.
11 Aw Angraeng, na loklam to patuek ah; ka misanawk pongah katoeng loklam ah na caeh haih ah.
Teach me your way, O Lord: lead me in an even path, because of my enemies.
12 Amsawnlok thui kaminawk hoi tahmenhaih tawn ai poeksae kaminawk loe, kai han misa angthawk o thuih pongah, ka misanawk koehhaih baktiah kai hae nihcae khaeah paek hmah.
Give me not up, O Lord, unto the rage of my foes; for against me have risen false witnesses, breathing out cruelty.
13 Kahing kaminawk ih prae ah, Angraeng hoihhaih to ka hnu tih, tiah tanghaih ka tawn ai nahaeloe, ka palung thazok tih boeh.
Firm is the faith I cherish, that I, in the land of the living, will yet see the goodness of God.
14 Angraeng to zing ah: thazok hmah, to tiah nahaeloe anih mah na poekhaih palungthin to thacaksak tih. Angraeng to mah zing ah.
Let your heart be courageous and strong, and wait on the Lord.
