1 Solomon ih kasang laa. Angraeng mah im sah ai nahaeloe, imsahkungnawk loe azom pui ah ni toksak o; Angraeng mah vangpui to toep ai nahaeloe, toepkungnawk loe azom pui ah ni toep o.

“A psalm of the steps, or the goings up. By Solomon.” Except the LORD build the house, The builders labor in vain; Except the LORD guard the city, The watchman waketh in vain.

2 Angsatui hoi buhcaak hanah, khawnthaw ah nang thawk, khoving khoek to anghnut moe, toksakhaih loe azom pui ah ni oh; a palung ih kami khaeah kahnaep ah iihhaih to paek.

In vain ye rise up early, and go to rest late, And eat the bread of care! The same giveth he his beloved one in sleep.

3 Khenah, caa nawktanawk loe Angraeng ih qawk ah oh o moe, zok ih thingthai loe anih mah paek ih tangqum ah ni oh.

Behold! sons are an inheritance from the LORD, And the fruit of the womb is his gift.

4 Tha oh li naah sak ih caanawk loe, thacak kami ih ban ah kaom palaanawk baktiah oh o.

As arrows in the hand of the warrior, So are the sons of young men:

5 Palaa hoi kakoi kalii tabu tawn kami loe tahamhoih; nihcae loe azathaih tongh o mak ai, khongkha ah misanawk to pakaa o thai tih.

Happy the man that hath his quiver full of them! They shall not be put to shame, When they speak with adversaries in the gate.
