< Saam 115 >
1 Kaicae khaeah na ai, Aw Angraeng, kaicae khaeah na ai, na palungnathaih hoi na loktang lok pongah, na hmin lensawkhaih to om nasoe.
Yahweh, people should praise [only] you [MTY]; they must praise you, not us, because you faithfully love us and always do what you have promised to do.
2 Tipongah Sithaw panoek ai kaminawk mah, Nihcae ih Sithaw loe naa ah maw oh tiah thuih o loe?
It is not right that [RHQ] [other] people-groups should say about us, “[They claim that] their God [is very powerful], but [if that is true], why does he not [help them]?”
3 Aicae ih Sithaw loe van ah oh; anih loe a koeh baktiah hmuennawk to sak.
Our God is in heaven, and he does whatever he wants to!
4 Nihcae ih krang loe kami ban hoiah sak ih sumkanglung hoi sui ah ni oh.
[But] their idols are only [statues made of] silver and gold, things that humans have made.
5 Nihcae loe pakha tawnh o, toe lok apae o thai ai; mik a tawnh o, toe hnu o thai ai;
Their idols have mouths, but they cannot say [anything]; they have eyes, but they cannot see [anything].
6 naa a tawnh o, toe thaih o thai ai, hnah doeh a tawnh o, toe ahmui thaih o thai ai;
They have ears, but they cannot hear [anything]; they have noses, but they cannot smell [anything].
7 ban a tawnh o, toe sui o thai ai; khok a tawnh o, toe caeh o thai ai; taaw hoiah lokthui o thai ai.
They have hands, but they cannot feel [anything]; they have feet, but they cannot walk, and they have throats but cannot [even] make any sounds!
8 Krang sah kaminawk loe krang hoiah anghmong o, krang oephaih tawn kaminawk doeh krang baktiah ni oh o.
The people who make those idols are [as powerless] as those idols, and those who trust in those idols [can accomplish nothing], just like their idols!
9 Aw Israel imthung takoh, Angraeng to oep ah; anih loe nangcae bomkung hoi angvaenghaih ah oh.
You, [my fellow] Israeli people, trust in Yahweh! He is the one who helps you and [protects you like] [MET] a shield.
10 Aaron imthung takoh, Angraeng to oep oh, anih loe nihcae bomkung hoi abuephaih ah oh.
You priests [MTY], trust in Yahweh! He is the one who helps you and [protects you like] [MET] a shield.
11 Anih zii kaminawk, Angraeng to oep oh; anih loe nihcae bomkung hoi abuephaih ah oh.
[All] you who revere Yahweh, trust in him! He is the one who helps you and [protects you like] [MET] a shield.
12 Angraeng mah aicae pahnet mak ai; aicae hanah angmah ih tahamhoihaih to paek tih: Israel imthung takoh to tahamhoihaih paek ueloe, Aaron imthung takoh doeh tahamhoihhaih paek tih.
Yahweh has not forgotten us; he will bless us Israeli people [MTY]! He will bless the priests,
13 Kathoeng doeh kalen doeh, Angraeng zii kaminawk loe anih mah tahamhoihaih to paek tih.
and he will bless [all] those who revere him; he will bless important [people] and people [who are considered to be] unimportant, [everyone!]
14 Angraeng mah nangmah hoi na caanawk to pungsak aep nasoe.
I desire that Yahweh will give many children to you [my fellow-Israeli people], and to your descendants.
15 Van hoi long sahkung Angraeng mah tahamhoihhaih paek nasoe.
I desire that Yahweh, the one who made heaven and the earth, will bless [all of] you!
16 Van hoi vannawk loe Angraeng ih ni; toe long loe kaminawk khaeah a paek boeh.
The [highest] heavens belong to Yahweh, but he gave [everything that is on] the earth to [us] people.
17 Angqai krang ahmuen ah caeh tathuk, kadueh kaminawk loe Angraeng to saphaw o vai ai.
Dead [people] are not [able to] praise Yahweh; when they descend into the place where dead people are, they are unable to speak and cannot praise him.
18 Toe kaicae loe vaihi hoi dungzan khoek to Angraeng tahamhoihaih ka paek o han. Angraeng to saphaw oh.
But we [who are alive] will thank/praise him, now and forever. Praise Yahweh!
