1 Angraeng loe hoih pongah, angmah khaeah kawnhaih lok to thui oh; a palungnathaih loe dungzan khoek to cak.
'Give ye thanks to Jehovah, For good, for to the age [is] His kindness:'
2 Angraeng mah akrang ih kaminawk mah, anih mah ni misa ban thung hoiah ang krang,
Let the redeemed of Jehovah say, Whom He redeemed from the hand of an adversary.
3 Anih mah ni, ni angyae, niduem, aluek, aloih, prae congca hoiah nihcae to nawnto pakhueng, tiah thui o nasoe.
And from the lands hath gathered them, From east and from west, From north, and from the sea.
4 Nihcae loe praezaek ah bomkung om ai ah amhet o; khosak hanah vangpui doeh hnu o ai.
They wandered in a wilderness, in a desert by the way, A city of habitation they have not found.
5 Zok amthlam hoi tui anghae ah a oh o moe, a hinghaih thazai o sut.
Hungry — yea — thirsty, Their soul in them becometh feeble,
6 Raihaih tong naah Angraeng khaeah a qah o, to naah anih mah patangkhanghaih thung hoiah nihcae to pahlong.
And they cry unto Jehovah in their adversity, From their distress He delivereth them,
7 Anih mah a oh o haih vangpui thungah phak o thai hanah, katoeng loklam hoiah caeh haih.
And causeth them to tread in a right way, To go unto a city of habitation.
8 A hoihhaih hoi kaminawk khaeah sak ih dawnrai hmuennawk pongah, Angraeng khaeah kawnhaih lawk thui o nasoe!
They confess to Jehovah His kindness, And His wonders to the sons of men.
9 Hinghaih tui anghae kami to anih mah dipsak moe, hinghaih zok amthlam kami doeh caak hanah kahoih hmuen hoiah a koisak.
For He hath satisfied a longing soul, And a hungry soul hath filled [with] goodness.
10 To baktih kami loe vinghaih hoi duekhaih tahlip thungah anghnut o, patangkhang o moe, sumqui hoiah pathlet o,
Inhabitants of dark places and death-shade, Prisoners of affliction and of iron,
11 nihcae loe Sithaw ih loknawk to aek o moe, Kasang koek mah thuih ih lok to tidoeh sah o ai pongah, to tiah oh o.
Because they changed the saying of God, And the counsel of the Most High despised.
12 To pongah nihcae mah palungthin pahnaem o thai hanah, karai tok to a saksak; nihcae loe amthaek o, kalawnkung mi doeh om ai.
And He humbleth with labour their heart, They have been feeble, and there is no helper.
13 Raihaih tong o naah Angraeng khaeah a hang o, nihcae patangkhanghaih thung hoiah anih mah pahlong.
And they cry unto Jehovah in their adversity, From their distresses He saveth them.
14 Anih mah vinghaih, duekhaih tahlip thung hoiah zaeh moe, sumquinawk to a khramh pae.
He bringeth them out from the dark place, And death-shade, And their bands He draweth away.
15 A hoihhaih hoiah kaminawk khaeah sak ih dawnrai hmuennawk pongah, Angraeng khaeah kawnhaih lawkthui o nasoe!
They confess to Jehovah His kindness, And His wonders to the sons of men.
16 Tipongah tih nahaeloe anih mah sumkamling hoi sak ih khongkha to khaeh moe, ataehhaih sumboeng doeh adaem pae boih boeh.
For He hath broken doors of brass, And bars of iron He hath cut.
17 Thoemto kaminawk loe lokaekhaih pongah amthu o moe, a sakpazae o haih pongah, patangkhang o.
Fools, by means of their transgression, And by their iniquities, afflict themselves.
18 Buh aannawk to panuet o moe, duekhaih khongkha taengah a phak o.
All food doth their soul abominate, And they come nigh unto the gates of death,
19 Raihaih tong o naah Angraeng khaeah a hang o, nihcae patanghaih thung hoiah anih mah pahlong.
And cry unto Jehovah in their adversity, From their distresses He saveth them,
20 Anih mah lok to thuih moe, nihcae to ngantuisak; amrohaih thung hoiah nihcae to pahlong.
He sendeth His word and healeth them, And delivereth from their destructions.
21 A hoihhaih hoiah kaminawk khaeah sak ih dawnrai hmuennawk pongah, Angraeng khaeah kawnhaih lawk thui o nasoe!
They confess to Jehovah His kindness, And His wonders to the sons of men,
22 Anghoehaih hoiah hmuenpaekhaih to tathlang o nasoe loe, a sak ih hmuennawk to anghoehaih hoiah taphong o nasoe.
And they sacrifice sacrifices of thanksgiving, And recount His works with singing.
23 Palongpuinawk hoiah tuipui thungah kacaeh, tuipui nuiah toksah kaminawk loe,
Those going down [to] the sea in ships, Doing business in many waters,
24 Angraeng ih hmuenmaenawk hoi a sak ih tui thungah kaom dawnrai hmuennawk to hnuk o.
They have seen the works of Jehovah, And His wonders in the deep.
25 Anih mah lokpaek naah takhi song moe, tuiphunawk to angthawksak.
And He saith, and appointeth a tempest, And it lifteth up its billows,
26 Tuiphunawk loe van khoek to angthawk o tahang moe, tui thungah krak o tathuk let; zitthoh parai pongah, palungboeng o.
They go up [to] the heavens, they go down [to] the depths, Their soul in evil is melted.
27 Nihcae loe ahnuk ahma angthuih o, mu paqui kami baktiah a caeh o moe, poekhaih palung boeng o sut.
They reel to and fro, and move as a drunkard, And all their wisdom is swallowed up.
28 Raihaih tong o naah Angraeng khaeah a hang o, palungboenghaih thung hoiah nihcae to a zaeh.
And they cry to Jehovah in their adversity, And from their distresses He bringeth them out.
29 Anih mah takhi sae to dipsak moe, tuiphunawk to anghaksak.
He establisheth a whirlwind to a calm, And hushed are their billows.
30 Tui anghak naah nihcae anghoe o; to naah a caeh koeh o haih ahmuen ah nihcae to a zaeh.
And they rejoice because they are quiet, And He leadeth them to the haven of their desire.
31 A hoihhaih hoiah kaminawk khaeah sak ih dawnrai hmuennawk pongah, Angraeng khaeah kawnhaih lawk thui o nasoe!
They confess to Jehovah His kindness, And His wonders to the sons of men,
32 Kaminawk angpophaih ahmuen ah anih to pakoeh oh loe, kacoehtanawk amkhuenghaih ahmuen ah anih to saphaw oh.
And they exalt Him in the assembly of the people, And in the seat of the elders praise Him.
33 Anih loe vapuinawk to praezaek ah angcoengsak moe, tuibap ahmuen doeh long karoem ah angcoengsak,
He maketh rivers become a wilderness, And fountains of waters become dry land.
34 to ahmuen ah kaom kaminawk ih sethaih pongah, long kahoih prae to thingthai qumpo tacawt thai ai ahmuen ah angcoengsak.
A fruitful land becometh a barren place, For the wickedness of its inhabitants.
35 Praezaek to tuili ah angcoengsak moe, long karoem to tuibap ah angcoengsak.
He maketh a wilderness become a pool of water, And a dry land become fountains of waters.
36 To ah zok amthlam kaminawk to ohsak moe, angmacae oh haih hanah vangpui to sak o.
And He causeth the hungry to dwell there, And they prepare a city of habitation.
37 Lawknawk a tawnh o, misur takha a sak o moe, kating ai athaihnawk to tacawt.
And they sow fields, and plant vineyards, And they make fruits of increase.
38 Nihcae to tahamhoihaih a paek moe, pop parai ah angpung o; nihcae ih maitaw hoi tuunawk doeh tamsisak ai.
And He blesseth them, and they multiply exceedingly, And their cattle He doth not diminish.
39 Nihcae loe pacaekthlaekhaih, patangkhanghaih hoi palungsethaih pongah, kami to tamsi o moe, khosak ahnaem o tathuk let.
And they are diminished, and bow down, By restraint, evil, and sorrow.
40 Anih mah Angraeng ih capanawk to azathaih tongsak moe, loklam kaom ai praezaek ah amhetsak.
He is pouring contempt upon nobles, And causeth them to wander in vacancy — no way.
41 Toe amtang kaminawk to patanghaih thung hoiah tapom tahang moe, tuunawk baktiah imthong ah angcoengsak.
And setteth on high the needy from affliction, And placeth families as a flock.
42 Katoeng kaminawk mah to hmuen to hnuk o naah anghoe o tih; kahoih ai kaminawk boih loe angmacae ih pakha to tamuep o tih.
The upright do see and rejoice, And all perversity hath shut her mouth.
43 Palungha kami loe, hae hmuennawk hae poek ueloe, Angraeng amlunghaih to panoek o tih.
Who [is] wise, and observeth these? They understand the kind acts of Jehovah!
