< Palungha Lok 30 >
1 Jakeh capa Agur mah thuih ih, palunghahaih loknawk loe hae tiah oh; kami maeto mah, Ithiel, Ithiel hoi Ukal khaeah, taphong pae;
Words of a Gatherer, son of an obedient one, the declaration, an affirmation of the man: — I have wearied myself [for] God, I have wearied myself [for] God, and am consumed.
2 kai loe minawk boih pongah poek ka ham kue, kami poekhaih to ka tawn ai.
For I am more brutish than any one, And have not the understanding of a man.
3 Palunghahaih to kam tuk ai moe, ciimhaih kawng doeh ka panoek ai.
Nor have I learned wisdom, Yet the knowledge of Holy Ones I know.
4 Mi maw van ah daw tahang moe, long ah anghum tathuk? Azom pui ah takhi naeh kami loe mi maw? Mi maw kahni pongah tui tapawk vai? Long boenghaih ahmuennawk boih caksakkung loe mi maw? To tiah sahkung ih ahmin hoi a caa ih ahmin loe mi maw? Na thui thai tih maw?
Who went up to heaven, and cometh down? Who hath gathered the wind in his fists? Who hath bound waters in a garment? Who established all ends of the earth? What [is] His name? and what His son's name? Surely thou knowest!
5 Sithaw ih lok loe ciim boih; anih loe angmah khae amha kaminawk boih hanah abuephaih ah oh.
Every saying of God [is] tried, A shield He [is] to those trusting in Him.
6 Angraeng ih lok to patomh hmah, to tih ai nahaeloe anih mah na zoeh ueloe, na thuih ih amsawnlok to amtueng moeng tih.
Add not to His words, lest He reason with thee, And thou hast been found false.
7 Aw Angraeng, ka dueh ai naah nang sak pae hanah, hnik ih hmuen hnetto oh;
Two things I have asked from Thee, Withhold not from me before I die.
8 amsoem ai lok hoi amsawn lok hae kai khae hoiah na takhoe pae ving ah; amtanghaih hoi angraenghaih doeh na paek hmah; ni thokkruek caak khawt caaknaek to na paek ah:
Vanity and a lying word put far from me, Poverty or wealth give not to me, Cause me to eat the bread of my portion,
9 to tih ai ah pop hmoek ah ka tawnh nahaeloe, nang kang pahnet ving ueloe, Angraeng loe mi aa? tiah ka thui moeng tih; kam tang hmoek nahaeloe, ka paqu moeng ueloe, ka Sithaw ih ahmin to ka saesak moeng tih.
Lest I become satiated, and have denied, And have said, 'Who [is] Jehovah?' And lest I be poor, and have stolen, And have laid hold of the name of my God.
10 Angmah ih angraeng khaeah tamna sethaih kawng to thui hmah, kasae na thuih nahaeloe nang to na pasoih ueloe, na nuiah zaehaih om moeng tih.
Accuse not a servant unto his lord, Lest he disesteem thee, and thou be found guilty.
11 Ampa to kasae thui kami, amno tahamhoihaih paek ai kami to oh.
A generation [is], that lightly esteemeth their father, And their mother doth not bless.
12 Angmacae amhnonghaih to pasae ai ah, angmah mik ah kai loe ciim, tiah poekhaih tawn kami to oh.
A generation — pure in their own eyes, But from their own filth not washed.
13 Amoekhaih hoiah mikpadai kami, patoekhaih hoi minawk khen kami to oh.
A generation — how high are their eyes, Yea, their eyelids are lifted up.
14 Haa loe sumsen baktiah oh moe, long ah kaom kamtang hoi mithoenawk to paaeh hanah, toektaboe ahuh haita baktih kaom kami doeh oh.
A generation — swords [are] their teeth, And knives — their jaw-teeth, To consume the poor from earth, And the needy from [among] men.
15 Taqawt loe canu hnetto tawnh; nihnik loe na paek ah, na paek ah, tiah hangh hoi. Amhah thai ai hmuen thumto oh, ue, khawt boeh, tiah thui vai ai hmuen palitonawk loe,
To the leech [are] two daughters, 'Give, give, Lo, three things are not satisfied, Four have not said 'Sufficiency;'
16 taprong, caa kak nongpata ih zok, tui amhah thai ai long karoem; zetto mah tiah thui vai ai hmai. (Sheol )
Sheol, and a restrained womb, Earth — it [is] not satisfied [with] water, And fire — it hath not said, 'Sufficiency,' (Sheol )
17 Ampa pahnui thuih moe, amno patoek kami loe, azawn ih pangaahnawk mah anih ih mik to taprok pae ueloe, tahmunawk mah a ngan to caa o tih.
An eye that mocketh at a father, And despiseth to obey a mother, Dig it out do ravens of the valley, And eat it do young eagles.
18 Ka dawnrai ih hmuen thumto khue ai ah, ka panoek thai ai ih hmuen palitonawk loe,
Three things have been too wonderful for me, Yea, four that I have not known:
19 van ih tahmu azawkhaih loklam, cathaeng nui ih pahui caehhaih loklam, tuipui thung ih palongpui caehhaih loklam, thendoeng mah tangla paqaihaih loklam hae ni.
The way of the eagle in the heavens, The way of a serpent on a rock, The way of a ship in the heart of the sea, And the way of a man in youth.
20 Sava nuiah oep om ai nongpata caehhaih loklam doeh to tiah oh; to nongpata loe buh to caak moe, pakha a huk pacoengah, kai loe hmuen sakpazaehaih ka tawn ai, tiah thuih.
So — the way of an adulterous woman, She hath eaten and hath wiped her mouth, And hath said, 'I have not done iniquity.'
21 Long tasoehsak hmuen thumto khue ai ah, pauep thai ai ih hmuen palitonawk loe,
For three things hath earth been troubled, And for four — it is not able to bear:
22 siangpahrang ah kangcoeng tamna, caaknaek tawn mangh kamthu;
For a servant when he reigneth, And a fool when he is satisfied with bread,
23 amram aak nongpata sava sakhaih hoi tamna nongpata mah angraeng ih qawktoephaih hae ni.
For a hated one when she ruleth, And a maid-servant when she succeedeth her mistress.
24 Long nuiah tetta ah ni oh, toe paroeai palungha hmuen palitonawk loe,
Four [are] little ones of earth, And they are made wiser than the wise:
25 thacak ai, toe nipui tueah caaknaek patung thaih, cahmatnawk;
The ants [are] a people not strong, And they prepare in summer their food,
26 thacak ai, toe lungsong thungah tabu sah savehnawk;
Conies [are] a people not strong, And they place in a rock their house,
27 siangpahrang tawn ai, toe nawnto hmabangah kacaeh pakhunawk;
A king there is not to the locust, And it goeth out — each one shouting,
28 angmah ih ban hoiah angdoet, toe siangpahrang im ah ohhaih ahmuen katawn caneknawk cae hae ni.
A spider with two hands taketh hold, And is in the palaces of a king.
29 Kahoih ah kacaeh thaih hmuen thumto khue ai, ue, kahoih ah kacaeh thaih hmuen palitonawk loe,
Three there are going well, Yea, four are good in going:
30 kasan moinawk thungah thacak koek, kawbaktih hmuen om cadoeh hnuk angnawk taak ai kaipui;
An old lion — mighty among beasts, That turneth not back from the face of any,
31 misatukhaih hrang, maeh tae hoi misa tawn ai siangpahrang cae hae ni.
A girt one of the loins, or a he-goat, And a king — no rising up with him.
32 Kamthu ah nang coeng moe, nangmah hoi nangmah nam koeh naah maw, to tih ai boeh loe kahoih ai hmuen na poek naah maw, na pakha to tamuep khoep ah!
If thou hast been foolish in lifting up thyself, And if thou hast devised evil — hand to mouth!
33 Maitaw tahnutui loe ahaeh khing nahaeloe, amkhawk tih, hnah doeh na hnoih khing nahaeloe, athii long tih; to baktih toengah palungphui hanah pahrue khing nahaeloe, angzoehhaih to om tih.
For the churning of milk bringeth out butter, And the wringing of the nose bringeth out blood, And the forcing of anger bringeth out strife!
