< Palungha Lok 3 >

1 Ka capa, kang patukhaih lok hae pahnet hmah, kang paek ih lok hae palung thungah pakuem ah;
[My] son, forget not my laws; but let your heart keep my words:
2 nang hanah hing sawkhaih hoi monghaih na paek tih.
for length of existence, and years of life, and peace, shall they add to you.
3 Tahmenhaih hoi loktang to caeh taak hmah; nangmah ih tahnong ah a oih ah loe, na palung cabu pongah tarik ah:
Let not mercy and truth forsake you; but bind them about your neck:
4 to tih nahaeloe Sithaw hmaa hoi kami hmaa ah mikhmai hnu ueloe, ahmin hoihaih na hnu tih.
so shall you find favour: and do you provide things honest in the sight of the Lord, and of men.
5 Na palungthin boih hoi Angraeng oephaih to tawn ah; na panoekhaih pongah amha hmah.
Trust in God with all your heart; and be not exalted in your own wisdom.
6 Na caehhaih loklam kruekah anih to panoek ah, to tih nahaeloe na caehhaih loklam na hnusak tih.
In all your ways acquaint yourself with her, that she may rightly direct your paths.
7 Na mikhnuk ah palungha baktiah om hmah; Angraeng to zii ah loe, hmuensae to caeh taak ah.
Be not wise in your own conceit; but fear God, and depart from all evil.
8 To tih nahaeloe na thaquinawk ngantui o ueloe, na huhnawk doeh thacak o tih.
Then shall there be health to your body, and good keeping to your bones.
9 Na tawnh ih hmuen, thingthai tangsuek hoiah Angraeng to pakoeh ah:
Honour the Lord with your just labours, and give him the first of your fruits of righteousness:
10 to tiah na sak nahaeloe nang ih tapupnawk cang hoiah koi amthlai o ueloe, misurtui suekhaih muroihnawk doeh misurtui kangtha hoiah koi amthlai o tih.
that your storehouses may be completely filled with corn, and that your presses may burst forth with wine.
11 Ka capa, Angraeng thuitaekhaih to patoek hmah; ang zoehhaih lok pongah doeh palung naa hmah:
[My] son, despise not the chastening of the Lord; nor faint when you are rebuked of him:
12 palung ih capa loe ampa mah thuitaek baktih toengah, Angraeng mah palung ih kami loe thuitaek ah oh.
for whom the Lord loves, he rebukes, and scourges every son whom he receives.
13 Palunghahaih pakrong moe, panoekhaih tawn kami loe tahamhoih.
Blessed is the man who has found wisdom, and the mortal who knows prudence.
14 Palunghahaih loe sumkanglung pongah atho oh kue moe, sui pongah doeh hoih kue.
For it is better to traffic for her, than for treasures of gold and silver.
15 Atho kaom thlung kathim pongah doeh atho nat kue, na koeh ih hmuennawk boih hoiah doeh patah thai ai.
And she is more valuable than precious stones: no evil thing shall resist her: she is well known to all that approach her, and no precious thing is equal to her in value.
16 A bantang bangah hingsawkhaih to a suek, banqoi bangah loe angraenghaih hoi khingyahaih to a suek.
For length of existence and years of life are in her right hand; and in her left hand are wealth and glory: out of her mouth proceeds righteousness, and she carries law and mercy upon her tongue.
17 Palunghahaih loklam loe nawm moe, a caehhaih loklamnawk boih ah monghaih to oh.
Her ways are good ways, and all her paths are peaceful.
18 Palunghahaih loe palunghahaih patawn kami hanah hinghaih thingkung ah oh; palunghahaih tawn kami loe tahamhoih.
She is a tree of life to all that lay hold upon her; and she is [a] secure [help] to all that stay themselves on her, as on the Lord.
19 Angraeng mah long hae palunghahaih hoiah ni sak; vannawk doeh panoekhaih hoiah a suek.
God by wisdom founded the earth, and by prudence he prepared the heavens.
20 Kathuk parai tuipuinawk to a palunghahaih hoiah tapraek moe, tamai thung hoiah dantuinawk to a kraksak.
By understanding were the depths broken up, and the clouds dropped water.
21 Ka capa, palunghahaih hoi panoekhaih to na hmaa hoiah amkhraengsak ving hmah; pakuem poe ah.
[My] son, let [them] not pass from [you], but keep my counsel and understanding:
22 To tiah na sak nahaeloe na pakhra hinghaih ah om ueloe, na tahnong kranghoihaih bungmu ah om tih.
that your soul may live, and that there may be grace round your neck; and it shall be health to your flesh, and safety to your bones:
23 Kholong caeh naah raihaih na tawn mak ai; khok doeh na pathuih mak ai.
that you may go confidently in peace in all your ways, and that your foot may not stumble.
24 Na iih naah zithaih na tawn mak ai; ue, kahnaep ah na iip thai tih.
For if you rest, you shall be undismayed; and if you sleep, you shall slumber sweetly.
25 Tasoehhaih na tawn mak ai, kahoih ai kaminawk mah parohaih doeh na tong mak ai.
And you shall not be afraid of alarm coming upon you, neither of approaching attacks of ungodly men.
26 Angraeng loe nam haahaih ah om ueloe, dongh pongah amanh han ai ah na khoknawk to patawn tih.
For the Lord shall be over all your ways, and shall establish your foot that you be not moved.
27 Na ban ah sakthaihaih na tawnh naah, kahoih hmuen sak pae han krak, tiah na poek ih kami nuiah kahoih hmuen to sah ai ah om hmah.
Forbear not to do good to the poor, whenever your hand may have [power] to help [him].
28 Na imtaeng kami han paek koi hmuen na tawnh, toe anih khaeah vaihi loe amlaem raeh, khawnbang nang zoh let naah kang paek han hmang, tiah thui hmah.
Say not, Come back another time, to-morrow I will give; while you are able to do [him] good: for you know not what the next day will bring forth.
29 Nang oephaih hoiah khosah na imtaeng kami khaeah, kasae sak han atim hmah.
Devise not evil against your friend, living near you and trusting in you.
30 Na nuiah sethaih sah ai kami to, tidoeh na ai ah zoeh hmah.
Be not ready to quarrel with a man without a cause, lest he do you some harm.
31 Pacaekthlaek kami ih hmuen to ut hmah loe, a caehhaih loklam to awt hmah.
Procure not the reproaches of bad men, neither do you covet their ways.
32 Poek angkawnh kaminawk loe Angraeng mah panuet; toe poektoeng kaminawk loe angmah hoi nawnto angkomhaih to a sak.
For every transgressor is unclean before the Lord; neither does he sit amongst the righteous.
33 Angraeng tangoenghaih loe kahoih ai kaminawk imthung ah phak, toe katoeng kaminawk ohhaih ahmuen loe Angraeng mah tahamhoihaih paek.
The curse of God is in the houses of the ungodly; but the habitations of the just are blessed.
34 Minawk pahnui thuih kami to anih mah pahnui thuih toeng, toe kami tlim ah khosah kaminawk khaeah loe tahmenhaih to a paek.
The Lord resists the proud; but he gives grace to the humble.
35 Palungha kaminawk loe lensawkhaih to toepsak; toe amthu kaminawk loe azatsak.
The wise shall inherit glory; but the ungodly have exalted [their own] dishonour.
