< Palungha Lok 29 >
1 Thuitaek pacoengah doeh angmah ih tahnong amtaksak kami loe, hoih thai ai, amrohaih to tong roep tih.
He that being often reproved hardeneth his neck shall suddenly be broken, and that without remedy.
2 Katoeng kami ukhaih kaa tawnh naah, kaminawk anghoe o; toe kahoih ai kami mah uk naah loe kaminawk palungset o.
When the righteous are increased, the people rejoice: but when a wicked man beareth rule, the people sigh.
3 Palunghahaih koeh kami loe ampa to anghoesak; toe tangzat zaw nongpata hoi angkom kami loe a tawnh ih hmuen to pasaeng boih.
Whoso loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father: but he that keepeth company with harlots wasteth [his] substance.
4 Toenghaih hoiah prae uk siangpahrang loe prae to caksak; toe bokhaih tangqum paekhaih koeh kami loe a prae to amtimsak.
The king by judgment establisheth the land: but he that exacteth gifts overthroweth it.

A man that flattereth his neighbour spreadeth a net for his steps.
6 Kasae kami loe a zaehaih pongah amanh; toe katoeng kami loe anghoehaih hoiah laa to sak.
In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare: but the righteous doth sing and rejoice.
7 Katoeng kami loe kamtangnawk hanah khopoek pae; toe kahoih ai kami loe tidoeh dawncang ai.
The righteous taketh knowledge of the cause of the poor: the wicked hath not understanding to know [it].
8 Minawk khet patoek kami loe vangpui to hmai angqongsak; toe palungha kami loe palungphuihaih to dipsak.
Scornful men set a city in a flame: but wise men turn away wrath.

If a wise man hath a controversy with a foolish man, whether he be angry or laugh, there will be no rest.
10 Minawk athii palong koeh kami loe katoeng kami to hnukma; toe katoeng kami loe minawk hinghaih to khet pae.
The bloodthirsty hate him that is perfect: and as for the upright, they seek his life.
11 Kamthu loe a poekhaih to taphong boih; toe palungha kami loe atue pha ai karoek to angphat.
A fool uttereth all his anger: but a wise man keepeth it back and stilleth it.
12 Ukkung mah amsawnlok to tahngai nahaeloe, a toksah tamnanawk boih loe kasae kami ah ni oh o.
If a ruler hearkeneth to falsehood, all his servants are wicked.
13 Kamtang hoi aling thaih kami anghmonghaih loe hae tiah oh; Angraeng mah ni nihnik hanah mik aanghaih to paek hmaek.
The poor man and the oppressor meet together: the LORD lighteneth the eyes of them both.
14 Siangpahrang mah kamtang to toenghaih hoiah lokcaek nahaeloe, angmah ih angraeng tangkhang to cak poe tih.
The king that faithfully judgeth the poor, his throne shall be established for ever.
15 Thuitaekhaih cung mah palunghahaih to paek; toe prawt sut ih caa mah loe amno to ahmin setsak.
The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself causeth shame to his mother.
16 Kasae kami pung naah, zaehaih doeh pung; toe katoeng kami mah loe nihcae amtimhaih to hnuk.
When the wicked are increased, transgression increaseth: but the righteous shall look upon their fall.
17 Na caa to thuitaek ah, to tih nahaeloe anih mah poek monghaih to na paek tih; ue, anih mah poeknawmhaih to na paek tih.
Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul.
18 Angzo han koi hmuen hnukhaih om ai ah loe kaminawk amro o; toe patuk ih lok pazui kami loe tahamhoih.
Where there is no vision, the people cast off restraint: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
19 Tamna loe kahoih lok khue hoi thuitaek han om ai; anih loe lok to thaih, toe thai ai baktiah om tih.
A servant will not be corrected by words: for though he understand he will not give heed.
20 Poek het ai ah karangah lok apae kami to na hnuk maw? To kami pongah loe kamthu to oepthoh kue.
Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? there is more hope of a fool than of him.
21 Tamna to nawkta nathuem hoiah kahoih ah khetzawn nahaeloe, hnukkhuem ah angmah ih caa ah angcoeng tih.
He that delicately bringeth up his servant from a child shall have him become a son at the last.
22 Palungphui thaih kami mah angzoehhaih to tacawtsak, poek amthueng kami loe zaehaih sak pop.
An angry man stirreth up strife, and a wrathful man aboundeth in transgression.
23 Amoekhaih mah kami to krahsak tathuk tih; toe kami tlim ah khosakhaih loe pakoehhaih ah oh.
A man’s pride shall bring him low: but he that is of a lowly spirit shall obtain honour.
24 Kamqu hoi amyok kami loe a hinghaih to hnukma; anih mah kasae thuihaih lok to thaih, toe taphong han zit.
Whoso is partner with a thief hateth his own soul: he heareth the adjuration and uttereth nothing.
25 Kami zithaih loe kami hanah patung ih dongh ah oh; toe Angraeng oep kami loe ngancuem tih.
The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.
26 Kami paroeai mah ukkung koehhaih to pakrong o; toe kami loe Angraeng khae hoiah ni toenghaih to hnuk.
Many seek the ruler’s favour: but a man’s judgment [cometh] from the LORD.
27 Katoeng kami mah toeng ai kami to panuet; katoeng ai kami mah toenghaih hoi khosah kami to panuet toengh.
An unjust man is an abomination to the righteous: and he that is upright in the way is an abomination to the wicked.
