< Palungha Lok 28 >
1 Kahoih ai kami loe mi mah doeh patom ai to mah a cawnh; toe katoeng kaminawk loe kaipui baktiah misahoih o.
The ungodly [man] flees when no one pursues: but the righteous is confident as a lion.
2 Prae thungah zaehaih pung pongah, ukkung doeh pop; toe khopoek thaih kami hoi palungha kami hoiah ni prae to cak.
By reason of the sins of ungodly men quarrels arise; but a wise man will quell them.
3 Kamtang pacaekthlaek kami loe thingthai athaisak ai khotui baktiah oh.
A bold man oppresses the poor by ungodly deeds. As an impetuous and profitable rain,
4 Patukhaih lok pahnawt kami loe kahoih ai kami to thapaek, toe patukhaih lok baktiah khosah kami loe nihcae ih lok to aek.
so they that forsake the law praise ungodliness; but they that love the law fortify themselves with a wall.
5 Kasae kami loe toenghaih to panoek ai; toe Angraeng pakrong kami loe hmuen to panoek boih.
Evil men will not understand judgement: but they that seek the Lord will understand everything.
6 Kahoih ai hmuen sah angraeng pongah loe toenghaih hoi khosah mithoe to hoih kue.
A poor man walking in truth is better than a rich liar.
7 Patukhaih lok pazui kami loe palungha kami ah oh; toe angzoeh koeh kami hoi ampui sah kami loe ampa to mikhmai setsak.
A wise son keeps the law: but he that keeps up debauchery dishonours his father.
8 Katoeng ai loklam hoiah hak ih phoisa hoi hmuenmae patung mangh kami loe, kamtang tahmen thaih kami hanah ni patung pae.
He that increases his wealth by usuries and [unjust] gains, gathers it for him that pities the poor.
9 Patukhaih lok pazui ai kami loe, anih ih lawkthuihaih doeh panuet thoh.
He that turns away his ear from hearing the law, even he has made his prayer abominable.
10 Katoeng kami loklam amkhraengsak kami loe, angmah ih tangqom thungah krah tih; toe katoeng kami loe kahoih hmuen to toep tih.
He that causes upright men to err in an evil way, himself shall fall into destruction: transgressor also shall pass by prosperity, but shall not enter into it.
11 Long angraeng loe angmah hoi angmah to palungha kami ah poek; toe poek thaihaih katawn mithoe loe anih pongah panoek kue.
A rich man is wise in his own conceit; but an intelligent poor man will condemn him.
12 Katoeng kami palung anghoe naah, kating ai lensawkhaih to oh; kasae kami thacak naah loe kaminawk anghawk o king.
By reason of the help of righteous men great glory arises: but in the places of the ungodly men are caught.
13 Angmah ih zaehaih angphat kami loe khosak hoih mak ai; toe a zaehaih taphong moe, caehtaak kami loe, Sithaw palungnathaih to hnu tih.
He that covers his own ungodliness shall not prosper: but he that blames [himself] shall be loved.
14 Angraeng zithaih tawn poe kami loe tahamhoih; toe palungthah kami loe raihaih thungah amtim tih.
Blessed is the man who religiously fears always: but the hard of heart shall fall into mischiefs.
15 Ukkung kahoih ai loe hmawhsaeng kaipui, to tih ai boeh loe taqom baktiah oh.
A hungry lion and a thirsty wolf [is he], who, being poor, rules over a poor nation.
16 Panoekthaihaih tawn ai ukkung loe pacaekthlaek kami ah oh; toe uthaih hnuma kami loe hinglung sawk tih.
A king in need of revenues is a great oppressor: but he that hates injustice shall live a long time.
17 Athii palong kami loe tangqom thungah caeh tih; anih to mi mah doeh angdoe haih hmah nasoe.
He that becomes surety for a man charged with murder shall be an exile, and not in safety. Chasten your son, and he shall love you, and give honour to your soul: he shall not obey a sinful nation.
18 Katoeng loklam ah caeh kami loe ngancuem tih; toe lam amkhraeng kami loe amtim roep tih.
He that walks justly is assisted: but he that walks in crooked ways shall be entangled [therein].
19 Lawk toksah kami loe caaknaek tawn mang tih; toe tidoeh avang ai kami hnukbang kami loe amtang tih.
He that tills his own land shall be satisfied with bread: but he that follows idleness shall have plenty of poverty.
20 Oepthok kami loe tahamhoihaih hnu tih; toe karangah angraeng koeh kami loe toenghaih hoiah toksah mak ai.
A man worthy of credit shall be much blessed: but the wicked shall not be unpunished.
21 Minawk mikhmai khet han hoih ai; kami loe takaw kae maeto hak hanah kasae hmuen to sak thaih.
He that reverences not the persons of the just is not good: such a one will sell a man for a morsel of bread.
22 Karangah angraeng koeh kami loe kahoih ai mik to tawnh; anih mah a nuiah amtanghaih pha tih, tito panoek ai.
An envious man makes haste to be rich, and knows not that the merciful man will have the mastery over him.
23 Pakha hoi pakoeh kami pongah loe, minawk thuitaek kami to hnukkhuem ah pakoehhaih hak tih.
He that reproves a man's ways shall have more favour than he that flatters with the tongue.
24 Ampa hoi amno ih hmuenmae to lomh ah, zaehaih ah om ai, tiah thui kami loe, amrosak kami ih ampui ah ni oh.
He that casts off father or mother, and thinks he sins not; the same is partaker with an ungodly man.
25 Amoekhaih palungthin tawn kami mah angzoehhaih to ohsak; toe Angraeng oep kami loe zok amhah tih.
An unbelieving man judges rashly: but he that trusts in the Lord will act carefully.
26 A poekhaih angoep kami loe kamthu ni; toe palunghahaih hoiah caeh kami loe loihaih to hnu tih.
He that trusts to a bold heart, such an one is a fool: but he that walks in wisdom shall be safe.
27 Kamtang abomh kami loe amtang mak ai; toe kamtang to hnu ai kami baktiah angsah kami loe, kasaethuihaih to hnu tih.
He that gives to the poor shall not be in lack: but he that turns away his eye [from him] shall be in great distress.
28 Katoeng ai kami angraeng naah minawk mah anghawk taak; toe nihcae duek naah, katoeng kaminawk to qoeng o tahang tih.
In the places of ungodly [men] the righteous mourn: but in their destruction the righteous shall be multiplied.
