< Palungha Lok 26 >

1 Nipui tue ih dantui baktih, cang aah tue ah angzo khotui baktiah, kamthu to pakoeh han hoih ai.
As snow in summer, and as rain in harvest, So honor [is] not fitting for a fool.
2 Takung om ai ah kasae thuihaih loe ahmuen kruekah kamhet parit caa hoi anghak ai ah azawk pungpae baktiah ni oh.
As a bird by wandering, as a swallow by flying, So reviling without cause does not come.
3 Quiboeng hoiah hrang to boh moe, sum hoiah laa hrang ih tahmawh moem pae baktih toengah, kamthu to cung hoiah bop ah.
A whip is for a horse, a bridle for a donkey, And a rod for the back of fools.
4 Kamthu to amthuhaih baktiah pathok hmah; na pathok nahaeloe nang doeh kamthu baktiah ni na om tih.
Do not answer a fool according to his folly, Lest you are like to him—even you.
5 Kamthu ih lok to na pathim nahaeloe, a mik hnukah palungha kami ah poek moeng tih.
Answer a fool according to his folly, Lest he is wise in his own eyes.
6 Kamthu khaeah pat ih lok loe a khok to takroek pat moe, amrohaih tui naek baktiah ni oh.
He is cutting off feet, he is drinking injury, Who is sending things by the hand of a fool.
7 Kamthu pakha pong ih palunghahaih lok loe, adue ai khokkhaem kami ih khok baktiah oh.
The two legs of the lame have been weak, And an allegory in the mouth of fools.
8 Kamthu pakoeh kami loe, ngazai pongah lawkthluem moep sut baktiah ni oh.
As one who is binding a stone in a sling, So [is] he who is giving honor to a fool.
9 Kamthu pakha pong ih palunghahaih lok loe soekhring mah thun ih mu paqui ban baktiah ni oh.
A thorn has gone up into the hand of a drunkard, And an allegory in the mouth of fools.
10 Kalen Sithaw mah hmuen boih to sak; kamthu hoi zaehaih sah kami hanah doeh toksakhaih atho to paek boih.
The Former of all [is] great, And He is rewarding a fool, And is rewarding transgressors.
11 Ui mah angmah ih tamlok to caak let baktiah, kamthu loe angmah amthuhaih thungah amlaem let.
As a dog has returned to its vomit, A fool is repeating his folly.
12 Angmah hoi angmah palungha kami ah poek kami to na hnuk maw? To kami pongah loe kamthu to oepthoh kue.
You have seen a man wise in his own eyes, More hope of a fool than of him!
13 Thasae kami mah loe loklam ah kaipui oh; loklam ah hmawsaeng kaipui oh, tiah thuih.
The slothful has said, “A lion [is] in the way, A lion [is] in the broad places.”
14 Thok loe takhing ih sum nuiah angbang baktih toengah, thasae kami doeh angmah ih iihkhun nuiah angbet caeng.
The door turns around on its hinge, And the slothful on his bed.
15 Thasae kami loe laom thungah ban to tapawh boeh, toe pakha ah buh abah hanah paqak.
The slothful has hid his hand in a dish, He is weary of bringing it back to his mouth.
16 Thasae kami loe khopoek thaih kami sarihto pongah, angmah hoi angmah to palungha kue ah poek.
Wiser [is] the slothful in his own eyes, Than seven [men] returning a reason.
17 Lamcaeh naah angmah hoi asaenghaih om ai angzoehhaih pongah kathum kami loe, ui naa patawn caeng kami hoiah anghmong.
Laying hold on the ears of a dog, [Is] a passer-by making himself wrath for strife [that is] not his own.
18 Tamhnuilok ni ka thuih, tiah thuih moe, a imtaeng kami aling kami loe kangqong hmai vah ih baktih, duekhaih phasak kalii kaat kamthu hoiah anghmong.
As [one] pretending to be feeble, Who is casting sparks, arrows, and death,
So has a man deceived his neighbor, And has said, “Am I not playing?”
20 Thing om ai pongah hmai to duek; pronghaih lok kaom ai ahmuen ah loe, angzoehhaih to om ai.
Fire is going out without wood, And contention ceases without a tale-bearer,
21 Hmaisaae to amngaeh moe, thing angqong baktih toengah, angzoeh koeh kami mah lok pungsak thaih.
Coal to burning coals, and wood to fire, And a man of contentions to kindle strife.
22 Pronghaih lok loe kahoih caaknaek baktiah, kami ih takpum thungah akun.
The words of a tale-bearer [are] as self-inflicted wounds, And they have gone down [to] the inner parts of the heart.
23 Lok loe hoih, toe poeksae palungthin loe anui ah rong nok dui ih long laom baktiah oh.
Silver of dross spread over potsherd, [Are] burning lips and an evil heart.
24 Minawk hnuma kami loe pahni hoiah kahoih hmuen to thuih, toe a palung thungah loe alinghaih hoiah koi.
A hater pretends by his lips, And he places deceit in his heart,
25 Anih mah thuih ih lok loe hoih, toe tang hmah; anih ih palung thungah panuet thok hmuen sarihto oh.
When his voice is gracious do not trust in him, For seven abominations [are] in his heart.
26 Anih mah hnukmahaih to alinghaih hoiah kraeng khoep, toe anih sethaih to minawk hmaa ah angphong let tih.
Hatred is covered by deceit, Its wickedness is revealed in an assembly.
27 Qumqai kami loe angmah qumqaih ih tangqom thungah krah tih; thlung palet kami doeh a palet ih thlung to angmah nuiah amlet let tih.
Whoever is digging a pit falls into it, And the roller of a stone, it turns to him.
28 Amsawnlok thui palai loe angmah pacaekthlaek ih kami to hnukma; lokcaep thaih pakha mah kami to amrosak.
A lying tongue hates its bruised ones, And a flattering mouth works an overthrow!
