< Palungha Lok 22 >

1 Angraenghaih pongah loe ahmin hoihhaih to qoih han hoih kue; sui hoi sumkanglung pongah doeh amlunghaih to koeh kue han oh.
A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.
2 Long angraeng hoi kamtang anghmonghaih loe hae tiah oh: nihnik loe Sithaw mah ni sak hmaek.
The rich and poor meet together: the LORD is the maker of them all.
3 Khopoek thaih kami loe raihaih to hnukcoek pongah ayae ving; toe poekhaih tidoeh tawn ai kami loe caeh moe, raihaih to tongh.
A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.
4 Minawk tlim ah khosakhaih hoi Angraeng zithaih mah angraenghaih, pakoehhaih hoi hinghaih to tacawtsak.
By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life.
5 Poek angkawn kami caehhaih loklam loe soekhring hoi thaang hoiah koi; toe a hinghaih angvaeng kami mah loe ahmuen kangthla ah amhoe taak ving.
Thorns and snares are in the way of the perverse: he that doth keep his soul shall be far from them.
6 Nawkta mah pazui han ih loklam to patuk ah; to naah ni a qoeng tahang naah, to loklam hoiah amkhraeng mak ai.
Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
7 Angraeng kami mah kamtang kami to uk, hmuenmae coi kami loe coisakkung ih tamna ah oh.
The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.
8 Sethaih amu haeh kami loe sethaih to aat tih; anih palungphuihaih quiboeng loe amro tih.
He that soweth iniquity shall reap vanity: and the rod of his anger shall fail.
9 Kami tahmenhaih mik to tawnh moe, amtang kami han paek koehhaih palungthin hoiah paek kami loe tahamhoih tih.
He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed; for he giveth of his bread to the poor.
10 Minawk khet patoek kami to haek oh, lok angaekhaih to amding tih; angzoehhaih hoi kasae thuihaih doeh boeng tih.
Cast out the scorner, and contention shall end; yea, strife and reproach shall cease.
11 Poektoeng kami loe, tahmenhaih hoiah lokthuih pongah, siangpahrang loe anih ih ampui ah om tih.
He that loveth pureness of heart, for the grace of his lips the king shall be his friend.
12 Angraeng ih mik mah loe palunghahaih lok to pakaa moe, zaehaih sak koeh kami ih loknawk loe tiah doeh sah pae ai.
The eyes of the LORD preserve knowledge, and he overthroweth the words of the transgressor.
13 Thasae kami loe tasa bangah kaipui oh! Minawk mah na hum tih, tiah thuih.
The slothful man saith, There is a lion outside, I shall be slain in the streets.
14 Sava laep ah zaehaih sah nongpata ih pakha loe kathuk tangqom ah oh; Angraeng mah panuet ih kami loe to tangqom thungah krah tih.
The mouth of an adulteress is a deep pit: he that is abhorred by the LORD shall fall in it.
15 Nawkta ih palung loe amthuhaih mah zaeng; toe thuitaekhaih cung mah to amthuhaih to kangthla ah haek ving tih.
Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.
16 Angraeng thai hanah amtang kaminawk to pacaekthlaek moe, angraeng kami hanah tamquta hoiah tangqum paek kami loe amtang tih.
He that oppresseth the poor to increase his riches, and he that giveth to the rich, shall surely come to want.
17 Naa to patueng ah loe palungha kami ih loknawk to tahngai ah; ka palunghahaih hae na palung thungah khrum ah.
Bow down thy ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply thy heart to my knowledge.
18 Palung thungah na khrum nahaeloe anghoehaih ah om tih; na pahni ah doeh suem ah.
For it is a pleasant thing if thou keepest them within thee; they shall all be ready on thy lips.
19 Angraeng ah nam ha thai hanah, vaihniah kang patuk boeh.
That thy trust may be in the LORD, I have made known to thee this day, even to thee.
20 Kahoih koek poekhaih hoi palunghahaih loknawk to kang tarik pae boeh,
Have not I written to thee excellent things in counsels and knowledge,
21 loktang lok to na panoek thaih moe, nang khae patoeh ih kaminawk khaeah, loktang lok na thuih pae let thai hanah, kang pat boeh na ai maw?
That I might make thee know the certainty of the words of truth; that thou mightest answer the words of truth to them that send to thee?
22 Amtang pongah kamtang ih hmuen to lomh pae o hmah; patangkhang kami to lokcaekhaih ahmuen ah pacaekthlaek o hmah.
Rob not the poor, because he is poor: neither oppress the afflicted in the gate:
23 Angraeng mah nihcae kawng to thui ueloe, nihcae hinghaih paro kami to amrosak toeng tih.
For the LORD will plead their cause, and spoil the soul of those that spoiled them.
24 Poek amthueng kami to ampui ah sah hmah; palungphui thaih kami hoi nawnto caeh hmah;
Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go:
25 anih ih kuu na la moeng ueloe, na hinghaih to thaang pongah aman moeng tih.
Lest thou learn his ways, and get a snare to thy soul.
26 Minawk ih laiba pathok pae hanah lokmaihaih sah hmah, to tih ai boeh loe lokkamhaih to sah hmah.
Be not thou one of them that strike hands, or of them that are sureties for debts.
27 Laiba pathok hanah phoisa na tawn ai nahaeloe, na iihkhun to na paek han maw?
If thou hast nothing to pay, why should he take away thy bed from under thee?
28 Nam panawk mah quenh tangcae ih prae angzithaih ramri to pathui hmah.
Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.
29 Kahoih ah toksah kami to na hnuk maw? To kami loe kami rumram ih toksah mak ai, siangpahrang ih tok ni sah tih.
Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before obscure men.
