< Nehemiah 6 >

1 Tapang loe ka sak pacoeng boeh, toe to nathuem ah khongkha hoi thoknawk to ka sah ai vop pongah, tapang loe khongkha sak hanah akhaw paawh ai vop, tiah Saballat, Tobiah, Arab kami Geshem hoi kalah kaicae ih misanawk mah thaih o naah;
And it came to pass when Sanballat, and Tobijah, and Geshem the Arabian, and the rest of our enemies, heard that I had built the wall, and that there was no breach left in it (though at that time I had not set up the doors in the gates),
that Sanballat and Geshem sent to me, saying, Come, let us meet together in the villages in the plain of Ono. But they thought to do me mischief.
3 To pongah nihnik khaeah laicaeh ka patoeh moe, Kalen parai tok ka sak pongah, kang zo tathuk thai mak ai. Tih sak han ih maw tok to ka caeh taak moe, nanghnik khaeah kang zoh han? tiah ka thuisak.
And I sent messengers to them, saying, I am doing a great work, and I cannot come down. Why should the work cease, whilst I leave it and come down to you?
4 To tiah vai palito ang kawk hoi; kaimah doeh hmaloe ih lok baktih toengah ka pathim pae.
And they sent to me four times after this sort; and I answered them in the same manner.
5 Vai pangato haih naah loe, Sanballat mah a tamna to ang patoeh, tacik daeng ai ih ca to ang sinsak moe, hmaloe ih baktiah lok ang thuih;
Then sent Sanballat his servant to me in this manner the fifth time, with an open letter in his hand,
6 to ih ca pongah, Nang hoi Judahnawk loe misa angthawk hanah nam sak o, tiah Sithaw panoek ai kaminawk salakah amthang, Gashmu mah doeh thuih; Judahnawk ih siangpahrang ah oh han na koeh pongah ni, tapang hae na sak let.
in which was written: It is reported among the nations, and Gashmu says [it, that] thou and the Jews think to rebel, for which cause thou buildest the wall, and according to these words thou wilt become their king.
7 Judah prae thungah siangpahrang maeto oh boeh, tiah nang ih kawng to thuih hanah, tahmaa doeh na suek; hae lok hae siangpahrang khaeah phak han oh. To pongah angzoh loe, lok nawnto aram o si, tiah oh.
And thou hast also appointed prophets to proclaim concerning thee at Jerusalem saying, There is a king in Judah! And now it will be reported to the king according to these words. Come now therefore, and let us take counsel together.
8 Kai mah anih khaeah, Na thuih ih lok baktiah sak ih hmuen tidoeh om ai; palung thung hoi na poek rumram ih lok ni na thuih, tiah ka pathim pae.
And I sent to him, saying, There are no such things done as thou sayest, but thou feignest them out of thine own heart.
9 Toksak thazoksak moe, toksak pacoeng han ai ah, kaicae to ang pazih o; toe kai mah, Aw Sithaw, ka ban hae thacaksak ah, tiah lawk ka thuih.
For they all would have made us afraid, saying, Their hands shall be slackened from the work, that it be not carried out. — Now therefore strengthen my hands!
10 To pacoeng loe Mehetabeel capa Delaiah, Delaiah capa Shemaiah im ah ka caeh, anih loe thok angkhah khoep; anih mah, im thung ih Sithaw imthung ah angqum hoi si, im thok kha khoep si; nang hum hanah angzo o tih, ue, nang hum hanah khoving ah angzo o tih, tiah ang naa.
And I came to the house of Shemaiah the son of Delaiah, the son of Mehetabeel, who had shut himself up. And he said, Let us meet together in the house of God, within the temple, and let us shut the doors of the temple; for they are coming to kill thee; even in the night are they coming to kill thee.
11 Toe kai mah, Kai baktih kami loe cawn tih, tiah na poek maw? Kai baktih kami loe a hinghaih loih hanah im thungah cawn ueloe, anghawk tih maw? Ka cawn mak ai, tiah ka naa.
And I said, Should such a man as I flee? and who is there, that, being as I am, could go into the temple, and live? I will not go in.
12 Khenah, to kami loe Sithaw mah patoeh ih kami na ai ni, kai aling hanah Tobiah hoi Sanballat mah tangka paek moe, tlai ih kami ni, tiah ka panoek;
And I perceived, and behold, God had not sent him; for he pronounced this prophecy against me; and Tobijah and Sanballat had hired him.
13 kai to pazih moe, kahoih ai hmuen saksak khue ai ah, kai ih ahmin kasae thuih han koeh pongah ni, to kami to a tlai.
Therefore was he hired, that I should be afraid, and do so, and sin, and that they might have wherewith to spread an evil report, that they might reproach me.
14 Aw ka Sithaw, angmah hnik ih loknawk baktih toengah, Tobiah hoi Sanballat to pahnet hmah loe, kai pazih hanah lokthui tahmaa nongpata, Noadiah hoi kalah tahmaanawk doeh pahnet hmah, tiah Sithaw khaeah ka hnik.
My God, remember Tobijah and Sanballat according to these their works, and also the prophetess Noadiah, and the rest of the prophets who would have put me in fear.
15 Ni quipangato akra pacoeng, Elul khrah, pumphae pangato niah, tapang to pacoeng o.
So the wall was finished on the twenty-fifth of Elul, in fifty-two days.
16 Misanawk mah to tamthang to thaih o moe, ataeng ih Sithaw panoek ai kaminawk mah tapang to hnuk o naah, hae tok loe kaicae ih Sithaw mah abomh pongah ni pacoeng o, tiah nihcae mah panoek o pongah, zithaih palungthin a tawnh o.
And it came to pass that when all our enemies heard [of it], all the nations that were about us were afraid and were much cast down in their own eyes, and they perceived that this work was wrought by our God.
17 To atue nathuem ah Judah angraengnawk mah Tobiah khaeah paroeai ca a pat pae o boeh; Tobiah mah palaem ih ca doeh nihcae khaeah phak.
Moreover in those days the nobles of Judah sent many letters to Tobijah, and those of Tobijah came to them.
18 Tobiah loe Arab kami Shekaniah canu ih sava ah oh moe, anih capa Johanan mah Berekiah capa Meshullam ih canu to zu haih pongah, paroeai Judah kaminawk loe anih khaeah lokkamhaih to sak o.
For there were many in Judah sworn to him; for he was a son-in-law of Shechaniah the son of Arah; and his son Johanan had taken the daughter of Meshullam the son of Berechiah.
19 Tobiah mah sak ih kahoih hmuennawk to nihcae mah kai khaeah ang thuih o, ka thuih ih lok doeh anih khaeah thuih pae o. To naah Tobiah mah kai pazihhaih ca to ang pat.
Also they spoke of his good deeds before me, and reported my words to him. [And] Tobijah sent letters to put me in fear.
